Man, I used to throw tantrums and rip SNES and Gameboy games out of the socket and smash them against the wall. The only one I ever lost was Final Fantasy Legend 3.
They just don't make them like they used to.

Grab a disk by its edge with all 4 fingers and the thumb on top, and then pry backwards to pop the disk out. Also, imagine that you have a 4 year old's small hands and coordination, and having to do it the "proper" way with pushing down the middle button and gently prying from the edge. They don't get that intuitively.
