Yuffie? She shows up as soon as you have access to the world map. She will appear randomly in any forest on the world map.

I usually get Yuffie at the forest north of Fort Condor, myself.

I still have the PC copy of it that I borrowed from my friend back in 2001. I also bought it on Steam a couple years ago.
Maybe I'll buy it on the Switch and play through it then. It took me 17 years to finally finish FFIV. FFVII will get finished eventually.

So, anyway, Vincent Valentine is an optional character that you can get in Shinra Mansion in Nibelheim. He's locked in the basement off to the side in a coffin. You can get him by completing a series of minigames in the mansion. It's a good sidequest to complete because you also get the materia Odin.
