MORDENGLORY'S PROFILE

An avid lover of Role playing games, and a Dungeon master with 4 campaigns under my belt. I like adventure time, mario, and megaman. I'm always working on creating something, whether it's an RPG or some form of craft. I'm always happy to hear when my work is liked by people that have played them. Although I'm just as glad when I get to experience a truly moving game.

Mario's Mansion 3

So I've refined my level taking into account the issues of entering the windows, making the initial jump easier, and dealing with making the p-block more cohesive with the level as a whole. I'm not 100% sure how you got stuck though Kentona, however I don't see any further issues.

Hopefully you'll all agree with me there, but I'm always open to more criticism as it's what turns ok levels into excellent levels!

Whoops, you're right.

I updated the event so people can submit their refinements.

Since I decided to do a hub instead of a world map, I guess there will no longer be any secret exits, so I would suggest changing any instances of keys to something else. This is my fault and I am a bad event leader.

For Haunted hotel, I liked the idea that you have the player going in and out of windows but it's hard to convey visually. I don't want to say "change it to doors" since it defeats your creative idea, but we need to find a good way to convey visually that there's a door there. I think I'd suggest putting a gray stone on either side if the window, but if other people have ideas I'd like to hear those too.

I think you're on to something there. I'll try to put a background object that looks like a small set of stepping stones or something in order to better portray which windows are meant to be entrances.

Also don't beat yourself up on being a bad event leader or whatever. You're putting forth a lot of work to get this thing together and that's all that matters.

Haunted Hotel - I got stuck inside of a set of blocks outside of the hotel and couldn't get out or kill myself. Also, taht first room has a duck-jump which I don't like - it is hard to jump across as big Mario. My first instinct was to carry the p-switch because there is zero indication that you are supposed to use it in that room. Hitting the red block makes the platform you want to land on disappear. I then fell through the floor to get to the basement finally. Decent level.

I gotta say, good criticism right there. I've been polishing the level so far but your comments helped immensely in looking for flaws. Just one question though, how are we supposed to submit our refined levels? This is my first compilation on this site so I'm a little slow on the topic.

Ugh, it seems like paint doesn't like me today. Can't seem to do anything about the how the coin turns out blurry. Although it looks a lot better after I took your advice and slowed it down though.

It's amazing! Although I feel it spins to fast, a framespeed of 5 or 6 should be ideal.

EDIT: And it's fuzzy, but that's due to MS Paint.

Hey thanks! I'm still sort of playing around with it, but I'll see if I can't get it to look a bit smoother.

Hey, Besides submitting a level I've also submitted a rar file with a new design for a dragon coin. It's got the image of a boo shifting in size on a large SMG2 coin.

I thought that if we are looking for a somewhat spooky that it could be a good candidate. Although I'm not great at paint, I figure it came out ok; Let me know what you guys think.

M&L: The Fallen Stars

You guys have some really good insight into SMBX. I really wish that I had asked advice from someone like you on this website...

Either way, nothing to do now but debug.
If you think of anything else, please let me know. Constructive criticism is always welcome. I really want to get this game on this site in a playable state!

M&L: The Fallen Stars

Thank you Ratty524, you're correct when you mention that the consistency of the game is like the RMN Mario game. It's the only SMBX game that I've played through as of yet, so I more or less had the concept that it wouldn't really matter so much if levels cycled through graphics, or went from one theme to another.

I'll take a look and see about levels that were all together unplayable. I thought that I took care of all the levels that blacked out when started, but it seems as though combing through is required.

Good feedback. I realize that it was a bit rushed; I wanted to get it finished before school started up, but I hope that I can get it to a point where it can be played without ragequiting.

How to open the game?
1) If you don't have SMBX installed, get it.

2) Extract the files of the game into SMBX's "world" folder.

3) Boot up SMBX, and in the game selection screen, select this game and you are ready to play!

Thanks Ratty524!
I always love it when a forum solves the problem for me!

A child's dream

Well, there are notes scattered through-out the sky castle which will give you 4 out of the 5 letters, and from there it's just a matter of looking at the possibilities of what letters will fit. Try exploring behind the outside of the castle, and the tower, and you should find a note in each chest giving you a hint.

Hope that helps!
