I'm getting ready to review Persistence of Memory. I'll just go ahead and tell you that I'm approving it. That giant Lakitu at the end scares me though. How do you do custom bosses so well?

MS Paint, IrfanView, and lots of time and practice.

I'm combating a tremendous lack of motivation. It's very depressing to watch.

We're so close to the end! You gotta keep up the fight! Eye of the tiger!

I'm trying to update my levels according to feedback and making a whopping 0% progress on the final level.

Do you have any ideas for it?

I'm bored. Is anything happening?

Judge Levels

Okay, I added a couple stopwatches to the level, as well as a new bonus room.

I haven't played the level yet, but not having clock power-ups in it is a crime. Sounds like the boss fight is pretty tricky, too...why not incorporate them into it? If the boss is high up and hard to hit, make an array of platforms you can jump up, but fall too quickly if time isn't stopped. So you grab your shell, grab a clock, jump up and kick the shell, then return back down before time starts again.

That sounds terribly complicated. And I don't want to make a boss fight where everything stands still for 10 seconds at a time.

Who the hell is Bricks Road?
Brickroad is a guy that did an lp of the first RMN Bros. Ever since that game, he's made it his policy to trash this series and praise Talking Time Bros, which is the game he worked on.

He played part of the first world of RMN 3 and said the game sucked and moved on.

To be fair, many of his critiques have been valid. Nonetheless, we're gonna make a fun game at the end of the day and that is all that matters.

Oh that guy. Well his level wasn't very good either. Too many signs and ducks.

Anyway, geez, so much hate for the SMW castle tiles! Do you really think they're that ugly? I wasn't planning on changing them to anything else. I don't know of anything fancier that SMBX has to offer, though maybe the graphics pack has something better.

There are two kinds of SMW castle tiles. We just need to make use of both. You'll see what I mean when I finish my section. Or just go play SMW.

Does the editor even have horizontal wooden spikes?

Nope, but I'm sure someone has already made them. You could replace the SMB3 spike if Hali allows it.

When you're talking about the two koopas, are you referring to Hali's phantokoopa graphic as contrasted with my SMW koopas or are you referring to the armored koopa?

I forgot about the phantokoopas. Looks like we have 3 different koopa styles now. Dammit, Hali.

Castles aren't usually decorated much at all. I only see maybe one area where the room feels empty and it isn't that bad.

I'm referring to the sheer volume of space that exists in many areas. There's just a lot more than there needs to be. The part with the moving chain, for example. It's just a nitpick, though. The biggest problem is that there's only one kind of block taking up most of the terrain.

Making another W8 stage would throw off our star count. You could take Shadow Temple off Deckiller, though it likely wouldn't fit with what you have in mind.

Ah. Well, that's that.

Also, what needs cleaned up about the final level?

The tileset is extremely boring. It's fine to use the default SMW castle tiles, but so far the level only makes use of one kind of block. DLK's section could use some fixing; there's a lot of empty space, the koopas are in two different game styles, the horizontal yellow spike should be replaced with a wooden spike because it's coming out of a piece of wood. It's unpolished. I could start my section now if you guys want to make the changes later.

Since the final level's a collab, I was going to have each person make their section, add the final battle, then pass it around again with my critiques of the other sections. Rinse and repeat until good.

Yeah that'll work. I'll get started now then.
