Asylum Game Jam

The Aslyum Game Jam is back for its second year.

From the website itself:

author=Asylum Game Jam
Returning for a second year, Asylum Jam is a 48 hour long game jam where game developers are challenged to make a horror game and explore the genre without negative mental health or medical stereotypes. This year, Asylum Jam will be taking place from October 31st to November 2nd for whatever 48 hour period that is most convenient for you in your timezone. The ticker here is set to 7PM CET.

After a very successful first year with 385 participants and around 60 submitted games (which you can play here), we're back for another dose of horror gaming - and we want you.

Sound good? Last year produced many interesting works from a number of different voices. It'd be great to see even more this year. I hope to participate myself.

Tell us a little about why you dropped the project/ideas
originally and why you decided on this project/idea to work on.

I'd been planning to adapt a short radio piece I'd previously recorded (in a bid to impress my fiance who I had just started seeing at the time :P) into an RPG Maker project a few years back, but its tight linearity was not suitable to the format. I set it aside for a long time, but this contest inspired me to try giving it a new spin as a kinetic visual novel.

Really, I was mega in to gam mak in the late 90s-early 00s, but real life took over for a long time. I'm just trying to get back into the swing of things and prepare myself for my EVENTUAL OPUS@£$%^&* If that means releasing some short-form works, so be it.

Aaaaand playing Alter AILA Genesis + Parasite Eve + Reading Junji Ito

=

I have written a whole apocalyptic alien-invasion full of plot twists story for a RPG with survival horror tones >_>

dang, I can`t stick to a project at all :v

Now I have to work on MOG Graphics, BOF1, this, a few commissions and I still want to participate on the halloween event. hahaha

Visually I'm reminded of Lone Survivor, one of my favorite recent horror tiles. I am also thrilled by the idea that your game is inspired by Junji Ito. I look forward to hearing more!

hey i'm originally from northern Kansas. this sounds fantastic! subscribed.

Palette Swaps: A discussion.

author=Kylaila
Well, granted, they are two different mythological beings. Which makes them much much more interesting, although the "classes" certainly do remain.
I love the compendium with their background stories, though!

Indeed; that's certainly a huge part of why I'm drawn to that series. but some of the earlier titles cut corners and simply used basic palette swaps for different mythological beings.

Revive the Dead

To me it looks like a heavily mosaic'ed image of a bound and gagged schoolgirl from a disreputable comic

Revive the Dead

edit: whoops jumped tha gun

Action game length!

Paranoiac is completely unfair so please don't make it like that.

Aside from that i like your idea. 30-60 minutes would probably suffice for a tightly-paced escape action game.
