I don't know if they'd keep a barrel of apples in the sleeping quarters of a ship, especially with two full barrels in the hallway. BUT WHOA SERIOUSLY what engine is that? That's some Breath of Fire 3 style hotness you got going on.

One thing you should note is that Kagome Kagome is a very popular children's game/nursery rhyme within Japan, and it's not really considered creepy there. Forget the exoticised orientalist creepypasta, they're playing on the fact that the target audience probably can't understand it.

Like, imagine somebody not from America making a horror story based on "Duck Duck Goose" or "Red Rover" and thinking it was the scariest thing ever. Yeah.

I was the only kid in the neighborhood who had a Sega Master System and not a NES growing up, so I didn't end up getting a NES until much later in life.

Anyway...I dig Crystalis, Startropics, Deja Vu, Just Breed, Chaos World, Recca Summer Carnival, Villgust and Radia Senki. I also like the ridiculous visual novel/graphic adventures, particularly Bamboo Cutter's Tale, Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom...


...and (especially) Oishinbo.

The Famicom port of Ys 2 is surprisingly good!

Of course there's the Nostalgia factor, but I also think there's a lot to be said for leaving things up to the player's imagination/interpretation.

Like, I imagined Klavier Gavin from Phoenix Wright to speak with a German accent, but in the latest game he's voiced by Yuri Lowenthal playing Yuri Lowenthal. Obviously I wouldn't go as far as to say it ruined the game or the character, but it was still noticeable enough.

Sure, that example is sound rather than graphics, but y'know.

Wasn't Xanadu Next on Nokia N-Gage only? Or did it get a wider release in the end?
