What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?
Just completed Assassin's Creed 4 and working my way through Hotline Miami as I wait for my copy of Bravely Default to arrive in the mail.
Have you been doing all the sidequests? You literally have to do *all* of them. They make all the difference between making the game impossible and making it a complete breeze. Yeah, it's pretty unbalanced.

I have to admit, I'm getting really fucking fed up with Ni no Kuni. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, but for god sake it needs to tone down the fucking difficulty. I'm playing on easy mode and it's unrelenting. It doesn't help that changing your familiars even once means that you have to spend the next 80 fucking hours grinding them up, only to metamorph them back into level fucking 1 in order to make them stronger (seriously, that is an awful decision that I can't wrap myself around).
It just really annoys me, because I can't get my head around forming a balanced group of familiars in this game. I feel like it's constantly overloading me with information or something. I don't know, I'm up to Hamelin now (and getting cockblocked by Porco Grosso since I'm underleveled) and the game is starting to feel seriously messy.
Am I just bad at RPGs or something? I thought I was at least okay at them but this game is making me feel like a goddamn moron.

I've actually been writing some scattered notes here and there revolving around making a game in which absolutely everything gives a vague sense of unease and unplaceable negativity, but my idea was more abstract and William Burroughs inspired.

And going back to my main project, I still have no idea how the hell I'm going to get the slave character to be forced to join the party. Any ideas I have either feel contrived, or so over the top it's comical and stupid. *sigh*
I think you'd have to give us a little bit more information: ie, the tone of the story, the characters who are recruiting the slave, and what ideas you've already shot down. The most obvious scenario I can think of is that the party bought the slave's contract. Whether that be posing as slavers, intending to secretly set him/her free, or to use the promise of eventual freedom as leverage to carry out some tasks with them.
