Seamus : Ruined Tower

Well, there are many character generators floating around the web. You could look for one that better suits your characters than the Rpg maker one. But if you don't really like to use faces, you have to make up for it. You'll have to make lots of poses and make the characters move, and stuff. Because in the intro they just stand still the whole time... If even that is beyond your graphical skills, maybe you can use some sort of visual clue. For example, have you played Golden Sun for the GBA? In that game the characters kind of shake(?) when they speak, so the eye is immediately drawn to them and thus is easier to relate the text with a character.

As for everything else. I'm sure that with more time to plan the story, to revise the maps, to test the battles; the end product would improve considerably -The battles are specially a concern, because, well, while I'm hardly a hardcore player xD I think can hold my own well enough in battle. And this time I just couldn't, mostly because the lack of 'flexibility' of the missions- so, once you address these issues, I'd have no problem giving this game another chance... So don't feel discouraged or anything, man. Keep it up! =)

Late reply, I know, but I'm just now seeing this so, sorry. About the graphics, I'm happy I used the rpgmakerxp looseleaf character generator, that's how I want my characters to look. Two squares high and allows for more character detail than the vx ones. But I just couldn't make face graphics with the vx generator, and I really had trouble finding other generators, they just didn't always match the hair of my characters, heh. I knew it was a bad move, but I cut the face graphics anyways, not liking the way they look. If I can make matching faces with my characters, then I would love using them.

I'll be going to college next fall, so sooner or later I will be able to do this a lot better, I'm sure. I don't feel discouraged, and I will continue practicing. Thanks for the help.

Seamus : Ruined Tower

Thanks, I appreciate this. Two weeks obviously isn't a good time frame for me, i guess. I made the mistake of choosing one of my major stories to start with. Should of saved it for when I'm better at this. This was a prologue anyway, planned after I planned what comes after this game.

But yeah, I did carefully write the beginning, well TRIED, to write an intro making sure to introduce characters. I thought it worked out... hmm, I guess with more flexibility of events and maps I could of done it differently, I don't know. The face graphics were something I don't even like. I don't like even adding face graphics. I ended up keeping with the limited character generator in lite, and well, there wasn't much to go by. Their faces weren't meant to express their current emotion, although that'd be cool. A "could have been", but again, I dislike faces, especially how I have no way of getting GOOD faces. I'm not an artist, and I'd need help with that, I guess.

Seiromem Played it and beat it, saying it was relatively easy, did the arena FIRST and succeeded. He did under the amount of testing I recommended, though, but I can't blame him. I didn't even test it, too many distractions I suppose. He knew how his gameplay worked, but couldn't really imagine how a newbie would handle it. I guess it was harder then he though, but he's always been like that.

It was meant to be a game but, hell, I wish we'd gone smaller! Half way through I seriously thought that, too. We had already cut the game up, but I felt we wouldn't have enough time. Plus, I have alot of story I want to put in game form, so releasing something Seamus related felt like a... liberation? The better thing to do, which we ARE doing now, is to save our major stories, we know they're good. And instead, work on something smaller to begin with.

So, I'm going to wait before trying to revise THIS story, save it for a third try(First try, we deleted a significant portion accidently and gave up) At risk of ruining it any more, I'd rather give Seamus a break. I would call Seamus hiatus then, but, I don't know, that'd seem like I stopped working on it, and I'll revise piece by piece. So I'll keep it production.

PS: Thank you for constructive whether than negative criticism. The former actually helps me! I'm just sad if I ever do fix Seamus to a playable and enjoyable form, the bad taste of your first playthrough might still stick with you, heh.

World 9.... Has some of the two most Bullsh*t levels EVER.
StratoSprint and Spinning Hazards. I f****** hate those two levels now.

The enemy placement in stratosprint is FAAAAAAR too cheap. you have NO time to react to an enemy just chillin' at the edge waiting for you to arrive mid-jump. And having a leaf while trying to jump off of note blocks (or trampolines for that matter!) is just about the most annoying sh*t ever. you gently float down slowly while the wall catches up to you before you get to the jumping off part (you're holding down the run key to get the much necessary higher jump)

In general Spinning hazard is just annoying. Died far to many times when I was on the left spinner and the track was heading up. Also died from the falling just short of the top from the side...

Anyway sorry for so much negativity but those levels, I felt, were just inexcusably aggravating.

As your brother, I think it would be wise to avoid commenting just after you raged, cause it shows heh.

But anyway, I'm surprised to see that my levels didn't come till the second half, heh. I found alot of these levels to be pretty good. Me and my brother are just kinda stuck on world 9, trying to get a few more stars. But can't seem to beat any more levels. Seiromem gets very rageful at this point, heh.

Relic

When I start the game, it brings be into the first chapter with the same thing Julev said, my character first disappearing then the scene "starts". But all I get is blank messages throughout, and then the same problem Julev has, my character is gone. I could only tell what they were seeing for each message based off the voice acting.

Vacant Sky Vol. 1: Contention

I'm glad you enjoyed the game! I know Act I has a lot of problems in its current state, largely since it was my first game and I didn't really know what I was doing. But I've definitely applied what I've learned since to the CE version. Was there a problem you ran into in Act III?

I understand, I've gone through many "first" games without actually finishing it, starting over to re-do it with what I learned and then the cycle has continued for the last few years. I'm close with a final idea for my first game though, but about your question.

In act 3... it was a long time ago since I played so I don't remember exactly. But there was this manor I had to go through, and I sort of knew what I had to do, but couldn't find the way or where to do it. The path wasn't very clear and I ended up going around in circles there trying to find what I had to do. I remember leaving the manor to try somewhere else, and ended up finding a unreal house, and I was alone, as just Auria. Here, the battles got me, I couldn't survive in the place so I guess I just got stuck and decided to take a break from the game. I doubt it was because of problems with the game though, it might of just been me and my below-average skill at the game.

Well, okay, I was good at it, but not good enough at that part. I would of started over and tried to set up my characters better, level up better and stuff, but I decided I'd wait until your complete version, that's what stopped me. I bet I could of beat act 3 if I kept trying on my second playthrough, but decided I would of just started over again in the complete version, so I would wait until then.

Vacant Sky Vol. 1: Contention

Well, from the looks of it, my problems with the acts are being fixed in the complete edition.(There weren't many) I'd say, this is my second-favorite game on this site, Sailerius. Good story, good characters, I found your music very good. I didn't find ALL the music "memorable". But I never do for any other games on this site. But with one exception, your music for the city "Viadahn" was the first memorable music I've heard in a RPG-Maker game.

When I turn on some VG music to listen to, I play my final fantasy 10 favorites, ocarina of time favorites, shadow of the colossus favorites, and many more, including that city's music. My favorite location in the game would be that place, very pretty.

So yeah, I thought I'd mention my thoughts on it, give some positive feedback. I don't have any bad feedback, really... except for act 1, it was sort of annoying. But good enough to get me into act 2, which got me to like the game. Never managed to beat Act 3 though... I'll wait for the complete edition to try again.

So, that's my take on the game, definately 4.5 out of 5.
Edit:(Sorry about my random comment in the middle of the bug report)

EpiQuest 2

Oh, well then that's alright then, it's not like it matters to me what the characters look like, just checking to see if you considered. I knew you probably already knew about it but decided to say it anyways.

Good, well I do like the first one, havn't gotten far cause I decided I didn't like my decision, so I ended up stopping cause I had to do the beginning all over again.
But I'll definately be playing this one, it's a good series so far.

EpiQuest 2

I see your still using default graphics, are you sure you can't make custom characters? It would look alot better. If you wanna try, use this maker, it's a different language but everyone pretty much knows this generator and it's easy to understand which button does what.
This is a good tool to use.

It would improve the game if you did so, you'll have more diverse characters, or even better, use RMXP sprites and edit them to fit in rpg-maker vx, to have even better looking characters.

Here is RMXP. If you cut out the first, left line of the character sprite sheet so there are only three rows(I did this in paint.net) you can use it for VX When your characters are done, press print screen and then paste into a new image, and cut out what you need.

I thought I'd give you ideas for better characters. If you wanna keep to the default that's fine though :/.

Seamus Chapter 1: Journey of the Attributes

Ohhhhhh, then that must be my penalty for not having images right now, my game has a warning now to have at least 3 images. All I can do is edit images, I have no blog editing now. But it keeps my public profile. Well, more pressure to get some images then.

Seamus Chapter 1: Journey of the Attributes

When I posted the game I did have some images, but I thought it would be bad to lie and say this is what is in the game, when It's not finished yet, and now has nothing to do with it. Those images are gone now by the way, I'm using a different maker entirely too.

You know what, I don't know why I think when you guys ask for images you expect a finished game. It must be my condition. Paranoia.(Edit: Paranoia is not my condition, more of a side effect of my condition) So I'll just get my ass working on something to put up. And I have question.

Where is the option to make a blog? I can't seem to find it anywhere, it's location slipped my mind, as well as putting up downloads...
