I think a little bit more direction and hand-holding would be helpful, especially in the beginning of the game.

It looks like since I've played the game you've fixed some things, but I hope you continue working on this project!

That's awesome, thank you for playing it! Loved your reactions lol. I appreciate your feedback and i'll work on improvements, definitely.

Fleshchild

I remember a game that i believe was made by you, about a girl in a laboratory. I can't find that game anywhere. I remember it being classified as "unfinished".
Did i just dream about this game or does it really exist?

LABYRINTH - Derelict Abyss

This game is a masterpiece and i keep coming back to it from time to time.
Your stuff is just amazing.

Hello @richterw,

Can this be played on a mini hand-held console like Miyoo Mini+ that runs on Onion OS??

Thanks so much for creating this! A wonderful contribution for the RPG community.

I guess if you can run EasyRPG in it, it would also run. As some advice, don't close dialogue boxes too fast, as to avoid any possible errors.

Project Violet

I'm not actually the creator, just another fan/follower.

Hey, great looking project you got here. Are you lurking arround?.
C'mere let's talk

I've been obsessed with this game at some point. It's a shame, but i just accepted that it is never coming out and so i moved on (kind of, i just forget and get reminded about it, i'm still here after all lol).
That's why whatever i can, i try to take shortcuts with the games i make. If you put too much effort all at once, you get burned out really fast.

I'll give it a try, girl's side does look like a fun game.

i confess that i liked the premise of the game and i also like farm games, but i have questions:

will there be a female protagonist?

will there be multiple endings?

and last but not least, will there be male love interests?

These are good questions, i did reflect for some time on how to respond to them properly, and i think those would be the most honest answers:

1 - I don't have plans to implement a female protagonist. It would require too much time to refactor most of the "global" code (at the risk of breaking something), adding many new conditions + the need to create new assets + having to playtest it all. This being a project made in my free time off from my daily job, i try to be as efficient as possible with where i allocate my time.

2 - Yes, i have 5 endings planned and written, that will happen based on the player's choice on some events. For now, i have only one ending implemented, the "regular" ending.

3 - Even though it's only going to be a male protagonist, i thought about the possibility of having male love interests. However, i mostly stick to my field of knowledge. What i mean by that is: I played (and watched) alot of Tokimeki Memorial. As someone that is focused on the mechanical side of things, i tend to find an interesting feature and try to recreate it, so my idea is to create something similar to Tokimeki Memorial(but on a smaller scale).
- In short, i would need to experiment and analyze some dating sims focused on boys, to get the spirit, dialogue and mechanics right. In this case, i'll have to answer an "maybe, not sure yet".

- that's it. I hope i'm not overpromising or anything. While i'm trying to add alot of mechanical variety, in some aspects i need to scale back to be able to focus on the main meat of the game, so that i'll be able to have it finished in my estimated time. Thanks for the interest.

No problem.

I did try to find someone from the old team, but they've probably moved on. And i mostly used their tech demo as a starting point. Checking how a game is made and reverse-engineering it's code is not something new, people do it all the time with games that i make. And while i will end up with a completed game at the end of this project, this is basically just a way for me to improve my coding and understanding of logic.

I'm sorry, but... is it supposed to be Harvest Moon Projekt reactivation? HUD looks the same, same engine, even same custom graphics... Are you the one from HMP team and this is supposed to be reactivation?

Hi. Thanks for the interest.

I did came upon this demo and was casually checking the code to understand how some stuff was made, as i am actually learning programming. I started fixing bits of code that were broken, and implementing new things to see how far i could go into making it properly functional (Seasons were not working, calendar was unfinished/broken, npcs were generic static placeholders, etc...).

I believe Gruni and JumpLink are the ones credited in the topic you posted, and i'll certainly credit them when this game is finished, but so far, i don't have any direct involvement with them beyond using their tech demo as a basis for learning how their code works. This is it's own project, with alot of stuff in there not related to the demo. As the post you shared states, that one is an abandoned tech demo of a game being made in the year 2003 (20 years ago). That is pretty much a dead project.

I'm going on another direction:
While the farming aspect is still there, my focus is on the life simulation part of the equation, making a bunch of side-quests and minigames, expanding on a dialogue system that would feel dynamic, depending on player actions, and at which point he's on the story (kinda like Fable).

As a closing paragraph, some of the screenshots of mine used assets of their demo as placeholders. It does have a different hud now, and all graphics are based on the Harvest Moon game for the snes, so that part is self-explanatory. I'm considering reworking it all to custom graphics not related to harvest moon, but that isn't my focus at the moment, and with this being a hobby project, i'll probably just keep the HM snes graphics.
