SBESTER'S PROFILE

I've been an active member for quite a few years now. I started my RMN career by releasing the Eden Legacy Trilogy of games (each entry took 4 months of nonstop work) within one year, and I've gradually shifted to creating other games as well. I now have 3 flagship series: Eden Legacy, Fragile Hearts, and Mafiosi (being remade for commercial release as Crime Opera). I'm pretty much solely focused on the Crime Opera series of visual novels right now, as my band and job currently take up most of my free time.

Currently working on
-Crime Opera Trilogy (Mafiosi 1, 2, & 3 edited, with all original resources)
-It's a secret...
Crime Opera II: The Floo...
The kids have grown up, and they're becoming quite dangerous.

Looking Back: Iron Gaia Series

I remember those days when Iron Gaia 2 looked to be the next shiny new thing on the rm scene. It was disappointing to hear what happened to it.

I was personally intrigued by projects like the Starseed games (especially Blood Machine), concluding episodes of To Arms, and the seemingly original Journeyman... but alas, it seems they shared the same fate as IG2. For someone as involved with RM and the RMN scene as Max is... I just wish he'd buckle down and finish a game again, instead of starting new ones all the time that are ultimately abandoned after a few vocal critics voice their discouragement. We all have cancelled games, but at a certain point, fans just begin to lose their faith in you. It's high time to win that trust back.

This should be required reading for all.

Diagonal Movement (Without using precious number keys!)

Perfect! This is exactly what my game needed! Thanks very much!

Change is good. Summer Retrospective.

Fun read! Really nice intro too!

CSS'ing your RMN Game Profile

Finally got around to using this, thanks a bunch!

For anyone who is having trouble getting it to save your updates (like me), do the following. Make whatever changes you need to, it'll save it just won't show up on the page yet. Reboot, copy your CSS code, delete it, update. No go back in an paste your code, update again. This can probably be avoided by shutting cookies off but I don't want to.

The Surrealist Tarot

Sorry it took me so long to respond, I was at school most the day. Anyways, I don't think there was anything wrong with the content of the feedback per say, I just thought that the language was needlessly strong at times and it accentuated the more negative aspects of the games a little too much.

On that note, however, I commend you on your classy response to criticism of your criticism, Max.

The Surrealist Tarot

I'm gonna hafta be the one to say it... Max, I found your choices of adjectives in this article to be needlessly (not to mention obnoxiously) mean-spirited. I actually had to take a few hours break to calm myself before finally reading the feedback on my own project, which still stung despite my preparation. Calunio's article did a fantastic job of pointing out flaws without personally offending the creators, while one needs only to read your recap of Fire Woman to recognize how little you care for people's feelings (pyrodoom is 12, as he's stated many times). Overall, I just found this article to be overwhelmingly negative, and it quickly became painful to read.

Calunio's surrealizations on RMN Summer Games 2011

This is an awesome article and it really delves into the heart of the games. I'm really intrigued to play Zephyr Skies now, amongst others. I don't think it was as full of spoilers as you warned though, which is a good thing.

About the Esoterica feedback, I'm glad you liked it (despite its very obvious flaws). I'm actually kind of indifferent to my use of music for it lol. The battles were originally a lot tougher to play, but when people were having difficulties, I pretty much made it so that you can shoot to kill from anywhere (as long as the enemy was somewhere within the character's peripherals). I'll update the download one final time in the next little while to fix up some of the other errors mentioned.

P.S. You should all indeed be very worried about me. You can support my cause for re-establishing sanity by checking out Fragile Hearts (Redux) when it launches next month! Hmmm... shameless plugs DO feel great!
