Thawed Notes on Game Chill - A Game Chill 2013 overview

If you were at all somehow still interested in my game's third item:

I can update this to reflect that. Obviously, I never encountered it, but, no biggy.

*Edit: Udpated! Also, skai, I knew your game has been updated since then. I, uh, just haven't gotten around to it.

No no no! Don't worry about it too much, the current update was just a stability patch, think of it as a sort of "in between" patch. I was meaning to make a blog on the profile about a certain "2.0" I had planned... but it may not released soon as I may or may not be caught up in a certain, more "important" project...

Thawed Notes on Game Chill - A Game Chill 2013 overview

Hey Marrend! Thanks for the overview, loving the ice puns and the way you sort of tie the whole post together

If you were at all somehow still interested in my game's third item:

Color swaps of this guy were the end bosses, big whoop. Seeing them took a little while however, they spawned in variation across a number of points. Coming across them early on however would probably get you killed, so I guess I sorta funneled myself into people not ever seeing it. The closest people got was little silhouette of one in that first notebook but...

Thank you for expressing tolerance with that build for as long as you could, both this and other exchanges we've had have really aided me in figuring out some of the streamline decisions I have to make to ensure the progression is a bit more clear and cohesive. Though some other players like Liberty and Racheal (on her stream) seemed to "pick up" on the rhythm of the game rather quickly, it became clear to me that getting to that point was taking a little too long even by my taste. I can fully understand how it can get just more and more disorienting in the midst of frustration. Though the game is stable now, I still have significant additions in the works that will hopefully address both old and new problems.

But enough of that, I'd like to stress again that I had an absolutely great time with this event! One more immense thank you to you and the other judges for your involvement and dedication!

Game Chill 2013

Congratulations to both Craze and Moga!!!
I'd also like to give a formal thank you to everyone involved with organizing the event as it helped sorta break me into RMN's community (as in... ice-breaking ba-dum-tsssssss), it also aided me with a much clearer perspective on my own creative cycle, how much energy was needed and how it should be distributed. This was both a significantly fun event as well as a great learning experience! Though I didn't win, I am still excited as ever to further my work and all future projects will be taking from the great experience I had during this event! Once again I'd like to give an over-arching congratulations to the winners, the other contestants, and "the slowest judging panel in the entire wooooooooorld."(he said it, not me)

In any case, was there any formal post-celebration stuff planned at all? Like a podcast? Or is it really just straight back to "gam mak?"

New Demo (With All New Prologue!)

Ah dang, I was looking to make a sort of video involving the last demo, I only just finished the recording the other day! Ah well, in any case I really liked it so far and am willing to try this one out as well!

'Herbs'? ... Chris Redfield's island?
I kid, looks absolutely amazing as usual! Here's hoping the rest of the kickstarter goes well!

Results will be posted this summer. Stay tuned!

I don't usually ask this but was that sarcasm or...? (I'm still new to RMN's etiquette and stuff, I'm not sure what the "usual" judging timelines have been.)

Razed are the Powerful

This is by far one of the prettiest looking projects I've seen recently (maybe ever)!
Silly question though... will there be bears?

In all seriousness this is toward the top of my "anticipation list," hope the rest of production goes smoothly!

FUN FACT - Turns out there's actually a place called "Dunlap" that my zip code covers. (Dunlap a variation of "Dunlop" which is in the title of one of my games)

I guess I'll spill the beans heh. One of the optional themes of the contest was hockey. The first thing that came to my mind was a film called "Slap Shot" starring Paul Newman (who I'm a big fan of.) In it he plays the character Reggie Dunlop. In the end "Dunlop Cavern" sounded a lot easier on the ears than "Reggie Cavern," so I stuck with it. Also, "Slap Shot" became one of Hock's moves. So yeah, thanks Paul Newman!

Later on, I did some research on the name out of curiosity and it lead me to this site. Apparently they were a clan of Scottish badasses who lived on a hill that nobody could mess with. (Just scroll down and read the site text and tell me it doesn't sound like a movie trailer.)

But yeah...

Never in my life did I ever think I'd witness this assortment of words arranged into such a sentence. I am quite glad I did. The term "dragon's ass" really gives off this glorious feeling!

(In all seriousness, I'm actually really interested in this project! I'm liking the portraits, and all the writing I've seen thus far really speaks for itself! Keep it up!)
