SLIMEBORGI'S PROFILE

I'm just a guy who enjoys pixel art and 2D games.(I like 3D also)

I've always wanted to make a game and now I'm trying to do so. Still don't know all the ins and outs of RPG Maker, but what I do know is this...

It can be a great game engine given to someone with an imagination!
DQ Gaiden: A Starry Lege...

@Caladium
Win rates for slots are supposed to be very low. It's only a side feature.
These slots use 1, 5 and 10 G per bet. Having more rows would probably help with win rates but the player would still get the same pay out. (Why I want to set it up a spinning wheel)

I think I'll throw in the Luck Stat having an effect on the probability rates.
Perhaps there will be triggers that adjust each slot machines rates individually. That way a player may have more luck switching slots.

Thanks all, Hopefully I can make it more of a spinning wheel.

I plan on making Pachsis Tracks for the game also.

edit:
Kid you not just hit the jackpot x 1 !

Ring a ding ding baby. Got a working slot machine in the game now!

I'll have to look into actual slot probabilities.

@Kaempfer
Looks very nice!

Rather than have a group chat option in the Menu hitting the A button will cause the lead player to speak to a random party member.
The amount of things they say, where they say, and when they it I have to tweak and add on. Another tedious feature...

Neon Lightning Force

Now this looks awesome. Going to have to freshen up on my Spainish!

A step closer to finishing the beta monster recruitment processing!
In case player forget what name corresponds to a monster an image of the stored monster appears!

DQ Gaiden: A Starry Legend

Ahh I see your problem.

Spoilers
There's a StrongHerb hidden in the meadow you find her. The single sand patch to the right.

A random variable roll determines if you find the secret shop upon entering the meadow. However, Riara will disappear if you activate Yidna's Quest. (the medicine quest in Kanata)

You got lucky and it just happened to land on the number for the secret shop multiple times in a row. I'll definitely add more hints for the next demo and switch some things up.

I'll do what you said have the Loran King tell you to say your goodbyes. (you won't have to progress, but players will be more likely to speak with the people of Loran Village and see Tega's offer)

DQ Gaiden: A Starry Legend

@SgtMettool
I can see what you mean in terms on monster troop sizes. I may make 3-4 monster troops more likely to appear. I just didn't want it to be too easy. I'm going to edit the monster troops for the next demo.

I'm adding monster recruiting, thing is I'm still deciding where to activate that during the game. (I want a DQ5/DQM3 style of recruit system) This will help with the party lacking members at certain points in the game.

There's 3 non monster recruits before rock pass.

spoilers
Tega*- Joins you to reach the warp shrine, after you meet Loran King. Leaves after, but he's a great asset to help yourself grind a few levels on the Loran Continent. (Monster manual helps with seeing which monsters give the most EXP)

Riara- The Pixy battle is a little hard, I'd say be level 5 for this fight (you have the Heal spell and should have enough gold for better armor). Riara is level 4, and learns Icebolt at the next level. Here attack is pretty abysmal I may make her a little stronger. The Meadow area contains a secret shop that may activate when you walk in I'll probably add a sound effect when you enter and are transferred there instead of Riara's area.

Johan*- You meet Johan in the games prologue, talking to him during the prolouge makes his joining fee much cheaper (400G instead of 800G)

* only in the party until certain events occur

Right after clearing rock pass is the 4th human recruit. There will also be one in the Casino, but not in this current demo.

The Hero also get the Expel spell at level 6, I may make it level 5 and make it cost 3 MP like in DQ 3.

It's an early demo so best thing is there's plenty of room for changes.

"Fan games can still ruin your life. Please stop believing otherwise."

It just sounds like scare tactics. It's like saying don't ever download music illegally! You could end up in jail!!!!! (I'm not condoning such behavior)

It really depends on the company involved at the end of the day. I guess it's best to go in knowing that companies track record before trying your luck.

Disney
Nintendo

Are two I'd not try to get in the way of. Unless you can get it out with relative hush hush.(I'm not condoning such behavior)

Always have plan b.
-You can make a platforming game that's not mario and uses power ups and such.
There's tons out there even now.
-RPG games are numerous, just learn to make your own graphics/music at that point.
In terms of story how can they claim its plagiarized? Oh this story has a dragon and a princess... Oh look monsters from medieval and Scandinavian folklore. A hero goes to kill them? Oh wait it's based off Beowulf not DragonQuest/FinalFantasy/Etcetc.

@slimeborgi:
Use a set of upper layer tiles. Like, map the water as usual and then place the ice borders (half ice border, half transparent) over top of them. Set the tiles to have full passability and there shouldn't be an issue.

But If it's upper tile won't it the player pass under it? Or I'm I confusing that with Star marked tiles. I'll test that out.

Edit:

So I can make a bunch of events that act as a boarder. Which is good. The upper method lets the player walk on the boarder the ship can't pass it. Doing it sort of how you said(half transparent/half Ice), but making them events and below the player is what I'm going to do.
