SUZURICHO'S PROFILE

I'm a mother of two little girls that wants to learn to make decent RPGs married to Asalieri.

What else is there to say? xD

What Suzu does when she's not here (which is all the time XD)

Hiya! I know you guys don't miss me that much (I know you miss Asa more), but I want to make my presence a bit more known around since I've invited a friend or two to join the site, and I want to participate in Sam's Game Making Drive! Anyway~ This is to show you guys what I've been up to, should you be interested or not.

First off, my recently started gaming blog: http://www.angelslime.blogspot.com/

As I've been playing games, I tend to write what I think about them either as I'm doing so or when I am done with a particular title. This is where I've been posting that kind of stuff. Either it's really boring or it's horrible, as I've only got two whole watchers. I wish I got some feedback from time to time.

Secondly, my artsies: http://kawaiiranchan.deviantart.com/

Everything from what I write to draw to edit ends up here. It's just a collection of crap which I expect to be ignored as it always has been, so y'know, feel free to ignore it, too.

Oh... what? No, no, no, that's about it. No I'm not gonna...

Oh fine. I have a fictonpress account, too. Same name as this one.

If you want what Asa's up to... well, just ask!

Suzu's back? o_O

Yes, you read that right. I've been juggling taking care of a family, making things work, and putting up with Asa while working on my newest endeavor, Ambassador to Earth. I don't get much time to actually post, but I do have plans of sneaking by and posting a bit more often. I was lurking most of the time anyway.

*yaawn* So tired these days...

This place looks nicer since I was here last. Almost didn't recognize it!

Ren'Py?

I don't mean to annoy, but I have a pressing question.

I'm learning how to use a program called Ren'Py. Is there a reason why you guys don't offer to host Ren'Py games... am I missing something?

Oh crap. *headdesk* Naming Issues

Yo.

I've decided to take a break from my main project to work on something small for the *trumpets blare* Release Something V! Because there's limited time to do this, I am going back to my first game making program, RPG Maker 2000. :D Also because all the resources I have collected for this project (I'm planning a NO RTP PROJECT for the first time, HOLY CRAP) work very well on 2000.

SO! I need to be able to have the player name each character. I searched on Google, as per the "google rule", and found a patch called rpg_rt. I thought my problems were solved. It says to install in the project folder to enable, and ...WHAT? Does this mean after I've finished the game itself, or now? I haven't been able to find where the damn program is installed as this computer is German and is mostly in German... so, what I'm asking is, is there a simple way of doing this?

I never was able to fix this problem the last time I used this extensively way back in the day of 2002, and it really puts a damper on my plans!

I'm extremely frustrated. I would like to get this up and running ASAP, as this is for that Release something V that everyone's going so nutty about.

Odysessy in Suri Islands (demo up!)

I have been debating starting a topic here in coverage of my game since I've had Odysessy's demo up. I didn't want to be thought of as a pompous idiot selflessly promoting my project, so I figured just my signature was coverage enough. But in all honesty, I need a place where I can tell people the problems I've been having in putting together a playable project, hopefully to span at least 10 hours of full playthrough. So, let's move on, shall we?

If you don't know me by now, I'm Suzuricho - Asalieri's wife and mommy to two daughters. I work on my game when I have time, but my family takes precedence. I don't care how much you may want to play it. Grr.

NOW! TO THE GAME STUFFS!

Odyssey in Suri Islands is a quest throughout the Suri Islands! Oh wow, you never would have guessed! Now. You'll be questing through as these four characters:

Pyra Magnum: a pregnant half demon. In the demo, she's searching for her husband (which is why it's called Pyra's Plight!). She has the power of fire magics and sword skills. Pyra can use all swords. As far as personality goes, being pregnant and alone makes her a total bitch at first. She's uptight, she's seemingly always angry, and unless someone asks her exactly what's going on, she doesn't tell anyone anything. When she and her hubby are reunited, she's a lot more peaceful, but she's still a little peeved at being pregnant.

Swain Darkins: a mysterious traveler after a specific treasure. He's a lightweight, and in the demo he can only use swords - I've changed that in the full game to where he can use whips and light swords or daggers. Swain seems burdened by something that won't be revealed until you reach his hometown. At the end of the demo, Swain will tell you exactly what's been going on. He's at the height of politics in the Suri Islands. Swain uses wind magic and some sword/whip skills. Pyra believes Swain is gay by the second chapter, but that will remain a mystery until the end.

Lucia Marin: a girl with few lines in the demo, but her part as been expanded a lot in the full game. She's a nice girl with healing powers and a few water spells, and she fights with a whole aresenal of spears. Lucia is the one that usually asks Pyra what's on her mind, she's a very caring girl. Her father is the mayor of Mysterica, and the first quest in the game is to save her from a curse, and in return, she joins the team to help Pyra in her goal. She loves to laugh, but she is concerned with the wellbeing of her friends and the world.

Zauber Genon: In the demo, we don't know much about this mysterious character. Pyra tells the group that he is her husband and the legend about how he massacred the entire population of clergy because he believed them to have evil intentions with his massive destructive powers which earned him the title "King of Demons". Zauber is in truth very loving; His heart belongs to Pyra. In chapter two onward, Zauber's weaponry has a lot to be desired, but with a metric crapton of MP and his library of spells, you don't need weapons. Zauber has a score to settle with a man named Gadli - but we aren't quite sure what that score is. He ends up leading the party when Pyra cannot.

I've tried to make them all have original classes, such as Swain being a "Toledo"... but that's not really my bragging point. xD

Now also scattered through this string of islands is four main countries: Dwega, Mariba, Yuma, and Lemismitt. There are free territories such as Gailardia and Casios; then there's the hidden city. And then there are villages like Mysterica that is ruled by a mayor. I want to bring out actual politics between all of the countries, which is something I plan on brainstorming here with you guys. I am NOT good at politics, nor to I understand them all completely. But the point is, the story has the religion followed by a few countries trying to take a hold of the world. Why? Well, MAJOR SPOLIERS! I plan on fleshing this out in another post because this post is long enough all ready.

Dungeons and bosses I don't have problems with making, really. I may need to pace them better, but I want some imput from the demo that way you can tell me whatcha think.

Yeah, there will be spoliers for my game possbily discussed here, but I wanted a place where I could talk about the problems I am having openly. My demo's writing is choppy from what I understand, and I may need help smoothing that out. A lot of my other concerns are in my game's profile, along with old, unmodified screenies from the very first release.

I am open to any and all suggestions, and if I use them, you will be in the main game's end credits. <3 Just please don't make too much a mess of this. -_-

How often can I post here to update? I am curious about that.

Let's discuss: Gender Equality, in gaming and in life

Okay... *takes a deep breath* "HEY CURLY! YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG, IDIOT!"

*clears throat*

I can't begin to tell you how offended I am of this picture. *twitch* I may be the quiet housewife, but I believe other women have the right to be just as strong as anyone else out there... and have the same gaming tastes!

When I was in first grade, we had an NES. It was all I did, except build model airplanes, but that's for a different story. My cousins made fun of me, all of them boys to make matters worse, because I couldn't play Mario or Megaman very well. I didn't have the reflexes to jump at the right time. My dad bought The Legend of Zelda, and I found my niche. Puzzle solving, dungeon exploring, HEY! finally the world of video gaming made sense, and I felt good at it. Soon after, my dad bought Final Fantasy, and it was a hit with me, too. Platformers were never my thing, but no one else handled an RPG or adventure like me. The boys thought FF was too slow and didn't ingage them enough. When we got a Sega Genesis, my dad had to buy a game for me specifically because Sonic wasn't going to cut it - so we picked out Shining Force. (I did play Sonic 2 because I liked Tails and the furthest I got was Oil Ocean Act 2. I don't even know how far I was into the game...) As the systems evolved, it was still the standard fare. They had to get me a game that was either overhead adventure or RPG. Now well into my 20s and holding a baby, I'm still playing mostly RPGs and monster raising games, and the occasional whatever else might be there (like Samurai Showdown).

What does this stem from? Thinking that girls can't play the same game as guys? Thinking that all girls are the quiet preppy demure types? Do those girls up in that picture even LOOK like the girls you do find playing games anyway? Give me your opinions, both girls and guys. I want to know if I'm going crazy, or is "game crazy" just trying to pick a fight?

...Just because my reflexes suck doesn't mean I should be patronized. And I'll have two daughters that'll beat the crap out of anyone in a fighter, as they have Asa to train them...

As for me: Where's my frying pan? I'm about to beat some Advertising Executive's ass. He'll smell like brused and blistered pancakes when I'm done with him.

Well, Asa is really sick....

Hey there, gaming fans!

Asa has a very severe case of food poisioning. He had some seafood that was not cooked properly a few days ago... and he's asked me to let you guys know that he will not be available on IRC or on this board for a few days. He's completely bedridden and puking all over the place. Don't worry though, he's got me looking after him - it's one of the few things I'm good for!

I'll come on every now and then to let you guys know how he's doing, if you want to know.

Apologies to Max McGee, as I was told that you guys had a project going on for Halloween.

Okay. Sequels and Such. (Advice?)

Hi there. I have a few questions pertaining to sequels and the creation of them!

I'm working with VX, or rather, still learning the ins and outs of VX. I finished the huge introduction of my big project "Odysessy of Suri Islands" which is up and available for play in the games section here. :D

Right now, I am working on part 2, where the story starts where "Pyra's Plight" ends. By then, the player will have accumulated levels, gained spells, and I would love to know if there is a way to imput a code or something so people don't have to start off at level 1 or whatever I set it at again. For example, someone may have learned Pyra's best spell in the intro, and it would suck for them to have to re-learn all of the spells! I hate when popular game series do this... Any advice there? It may be a bit much for me to program myself, but I would love assistance. <3

Question 2! I realize that my game's profile is just called "Odysessy of Suri Islands", which is the name of the game series, not each individual chapter. First, I need to either edit that OR see if each seperate download needs a seperate profile. I was wondering if I could combine them all on the same profile and keep updating the same game development blog. I really wasn't sure of where to ask this.

Thanks for your time, guys.

Mama wants. NOW.

I'm not sure of the border between moronic and general, but I would certainly ask someone to move the topic where you see fit if need be! I'm a bit nervous, though, I usually don't start topics in fear of them being considered... well, incredibly stupid.

Being pregnant, there are things that I feel the need to have - cravings and the like. Cravings hit me at anytime, all the time, from the natural to the strange, from food to affection... I even get cravings to play certain games, too!

And I'm curious to know...

What are you craving? Food? A certain type of game? Tell the Mama what you're craving, and where exactly did this come from? Are there reasons for your cravings?

So, to start us off!

I'm after some bacon pizza right now, though I'm sure that's a bit too strange for the resturants here to handle. *sad*

RPGMVX - Specific Storytelling Issue

Hi there. I have been working with RPGMVX for about a week now and I've learned a few things by myself, but I'm stuck on a specific type event that I would like for my game.

If you ever played the mega-popular FFVII, you might remember a part of the game in Kalm where Cloud tells the party his version of his past. He doesn't just say it in that room by text only, you get to see it acted out. I find that to be a nice way of telling the player what's going on in the character's head.

I never tried to do it with any of my other projects on RPGM2K, which is the only one of these types of programs I've used before, as none of the stories really called for that.

I've tried having that map where the characters are talking bigger, and just looking over to where I had the event drawn with the game camera, but it always turns out wonky. This is all I've really tried to do, as my baby tends to try and smash my keyboard now and then...

Any help or suggestions would be most appriciated!
