Deity Quest

Haha, that's pretty good timing - you re-discovered Deity Quest just as it released :P . If you play the demo, I'll be interested to hear what you think!

Deity Quest

Glad you find the game interesting! I uploaded a (semi-outdated) video here: http://rpgmaker.net/games/6002/media/1665/ which has footage of the battle system, although to really figure out what the gameplay is like you'll have to play the game (I'll let you know when I get the BETA or demo up).

It's definitely true that RPGMaker.net is more for free games than commercial games - I'm usually browsing for free RPGs here too. But, even if there's low interest here, that's better than nothing.

Deity Quest

Thanks! Hopefully Deity Quest won't be overlooked - I just posted it two days ago and haven't uploaded a demo yet, so it's possible as I get closer to release, people will become more interested in the project. It'd be great if you could help spread the word, and I'll let you know when I have a demo or BETA test up!

Rhythos RPG Builder - a Free and Open Source Dev Tool

For those of you interested, I'm still working on this and hoping to get a demo version up by the end of the year, and hopefully start another kickstarter campaign next year. I've also been posting frequent development updates to the forums, so feel free to check that out!

One update I posted recently that I think you'll be interested in is the ability to import RPGMaker 2000/2003 maps. This is not a feature-complete import, but with some work in the plugin, it could easily become one. You can read more about that (with a screenshot) here: http://rhythos.com/forum/index.php?page=topicview&id=development-updates%2Fplugins-import-from

Lunar Wish: Orbs of Fate

OH! Now I see it - I didn't even realize there was that area off to the right >_>. Thanks!

Lunar Wish: Orbs of Fate

Gah, I'm stuck at the passage to Tag's Fort. The cave collapsed, and the only way around it is a passage down deeper into the cave, but that passage ends with a strange puzzle with four levers (with a direction indicator below them, hittable by the shuriken), and the pathway to continue and a chest blocked. I'm guessing that you have to hit the levels in some combination, then hit the bigger switch to open the gate, but I don't see any other hints and have no clue what the combination would be, nor do I know what the direction indicators are for. Any hints?

Other than that, I've been enjoying the game. The normal monsters are pretty easy to beat, and the bosses a tad too hard, but that might just be based on which skills I chose.

Rhythos RPG Builder - a Free and Open Source Dev Tool

If the kickstarter fails, I'll probably continue working on it in my free time, improving on the project and the concept of it based on feedback, and perhaps trying another kickstarter or other fundraising campaign sometime next year. I definitely don't want to give up on this project, and if the community and features continue to improve between this campaign and the next one, I have high hopes that I'd have a better chance succeeding the next time around! I've even been getting some community contributions to the editor, and that'll definitely help keep the project going!

Awesome, I'm glad you're interested! I've also been posting development updates here, so you can keep track of the project: http://rhythos.com/forum/index.php?page=forumview&id=development-updates

How small are we talking? The games exported by the editor can be as small as 320x240 (customizable), but the editor itself will require a larger resolution. I've worked in the editor at 800x600 before and it's pretty usable at that resolution. It starts to get cramped at 640x480 and while it'd probably run at a slightly lower resolution without cutting off anything important, that's about as low as I'd go for usability.

Yes, you'll be able to import your own sprites (and modify the LPC sprites as long as you license them under the CC/GPL). The editor now supports any tile size, and should be very flexible, allowing you to specify frames, equipment layers, etc. The LPC equipment and weapon graphics wont fit custom sprites unless you design the custom sprites to work with them, but you could add your own equipment sprites or just have the characters have a constant appearance.

The battle system (and all battle systems) work as plugins that add new battle commands - so you could add the Rhythos battle engine, a turn based battle system (if I or someone else creates it), multiple battle systems (to switch between for different fights), or no battle systems. And of course, even if you add a battle system (or leave the default Rhythos battle system enabled), you can just not use it.
