I'm in the same boat... I meant to upload my games to itch.io ages ago :P There's a big 'ol item on my to-do list for it.
I'm only on there once in a while, too. Not for any particular reason though... Sometimes I just have to think "Oh! I haven't visited RMW in a while. Maybe I should go check."
Although the size of that forum compared to this one can be a little intimidating.

It's weird but despite it being a thriving community, you don't really get much in the way of feedback or attention for games.
It's still worth checking out, though, since there are new people there that aren't here and hey, any extra attention is good attention! >.<)b
The severe lack of feedback for games over there is the sole reason I left the site back in late 2014 ( I made an account back in March 2012, when it was still new ). And the whole 'social media' aspect like Reputation and Followers for your profile just rubs off me the wrong way. :/
author=LibertyI wonder why that is? General discussions, status, and resource threads seem more active than actual game project topics.

I guess you gotta' REALLY stand out somehow in order to get noticed.

The idea of making games is more attractive than actually making them.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I should visit Don Miguel's site more often.
Back then, all RPG Maker games were so bad that the only reason anyone ever played any of them was to download the tilesets and battle animations to use in their own games. I suspect that on zero-quality-control websites like RMW, that's mostly still the case.

While RMN is big it still feels small and tight knit to me. Plus gamepages?
I don't need other sites, besides maybe promote my games. Beyond that I don't have much to do with them. But that's kinda the environment they create, at least nowadays. I plop my game down there and come here if I actually want to discuss or play something.
*wipes away tear* I love RMN. fuck those other guys *sniffle*

Yeah, I guess I'm not sure what the "key takeaway" is when it comes to RMW. It seems like a lot of people are just going there for quick support or to showcase assets. But the actual game threads always seem to get overlooked.

I think you answered your own question.
Also, with RMN, the community is actually a teensy bit larger than it seems on the boards, because there are many members who post exclusively on game pages and not on the main boards for some reason.
Considering what's at my fingertips I don't visit, let alone stick around as long as I have here at many places.
