Brainstorming battle system ideas inspired from other games

You can always look outside of RPGs for inspiration.

My game has a big focus on consumables in combat, ammo for weapons etc which cost money, as such choices have to be made on which encounters the player will use resources in. It was inspired by Resident Evil 4. I like the idea of trying to reinterpret systems from other genres into RPGs.

Nandee's Pixel Shop

Your animations look really nice, your particle work, in particular, is cool (I can see how you did it and some might call it cheating but you have the timing spot on so whatever). I really like the anticipation on your large monsters swipes too.

Misao Category Review

I secretly decided to make Shooty and the Catfish free so I could win all of the Misaos.

@visitors:
I only have two thumbs to put up, but you get them both

but also "you're" is a word

Anyway here are some more screens from Moonsong, a game that uses 80% ripped graphics:

S T E A L T H minigame

more sneaking around, less minigame

One day I will learn to use the right you're but it is not this day haha.

Your assets might be ripped but those map layouts are tight!

The character design is so good!

It's funny when I was working in animation my designs were considered pretty generic but bringing them over to the gaming space they are viewed as being pretty fresh. I'm glad my works found a home in the indie space.

You took a lot of creative feedback on this project and it's paying off. The randomness of enemies and characters is fantastic. Above all else though, I am jealous of your sweet battle screen. Well design, much good.

The battle scene has its issues (one of the plugins used stops me from being able to set up encounters with more than one enemy for some reason) but overall I'm really happy with it, especially considering where it started.

Shooty and the Catfish: Fully Reloaded will no longer be a commercial release.

Such a fascinating choice after all the work you've put into this. Why not just release it cheap & if issues arise that aren't game breaking I'm sure people would understand a wait to fix them. Hell Bethesda does it annually & at a much higher price haha. Game looks incredible though, congrats on it all!

I'm not sure, it just doesn't feel like me I suppose. I'd rather have people coming to my patreon and paying for the source files than having them buy the final product for some reason. I guess I just find that side of things more interesting. With the absolute oversaturation in the indie market at the moment, including in indie RPGs I feel like having it be free is a point of difference that might help it get more attention as well I suppose. Thank you for the kind words. :)

Kevin Bacon everyone.

Reception in Youtube for the first trailer for RPG Maker Mz was 50/50 with likes and dislikes

Its a really cheap and uninformative trailer, drop that on top of the drop feed of actual useful information, yeah, people are mad haha.
