Small description: Something strange has landed in the forests of Flatwoods. As the only one who saw it, its up to you to sneak out of the house and discover what it was.
Special requests: Mainly my concern with this review would be with eventing and mapping. This is my first time making an RPG Maker Game (I dabbled with it back in around 2001 when I was in high school but hadn't touched it since.) so I wanted to start with something small and quaint, but I wanted to make sure I had the basics of the engine, as well as level design worked out before I moved onto bigger and more complex projects.
I'm going to try and give this a shot to up my contributions to this thread. If you don't hear back from me later today, I probably gave up or my computer was too garbage to run an MV game.
Hot damn, I actually have your game G on my RPG Maker to Lets Play list! Im looking forward to both accounts. :)
Alright, I've finished Flatwoods (I was a bit confused at first due to the abrupt way it ended) and am writing the review now. It'll probably take a couple of days for the submission staff to send it through the queue, but I'll keep you updated if things seem to go amiss.

You and everything else in this world

I take it in the end you found both endings then? I know some people didn't realize that collecting them would effect the ending, so its bad on my end for not making that more clear, but at the same time it didn't make sense that the playable character would know that as he was exploring the forest. Game designer problems ha ha.

I just played through and got both endings and this was such a delight to play. The pixel graphics and sound design really add to the "child going on a self-appointed quest" type of story. I'm also stupidly excited that each of the trees gives a different reaction when you inspect them.

This was short but sweet and I can't wait to see what other games you'll make. And to echo everyone else, I'm absolutely amazed by your animation work!

Ahhhh, Thank you so much! I am glad I managed to capture that specific feeling that I was going for. I knew there wasn't a whole lot to the game so I tried to put as much silly flavor text into the game as I could, ha ha.

2016 Misaos (Fin)

I didn't know this was a thing, now I do, still got a few of these games I need to check out myself. Maybe some day I will be able to create something myself worth of such a title. Still got a lot of learning to do!

Im going to put forward Soma Spirits for best characters, some really fun dialogue throughout that game.

That was really charming!! The short animated segments really help set this apart from a lot of other RPG Maker games, even if it's a bit short.

...not to mention it taught me a plethora of riveting Turnip Facts™
This was cool, awesome job!

I'm glad you enjoyed it, being my first game I wanted to make sure I kept the scope small and somewhat achievable (seen far too many developers first games go unfinished thanks to trying to make something too big). As much as im glad the animated cut-scenes separate the game from other similar games out there I feel like the time it took to make them (the game took about 2 months, animation took 6 thanks to my work load) its not something I think I will be implementing into future games, although I will still be using animation a lot of trailer's etc.

Thanks again for playing and I am glad you learnt some new things about turnips ha ha.

Congrats on completion!! I'll be giving it a spin when i can :D

Hey thanks! I know its a little different to most games on here, I guess Wither would be the closest comparison, so I hope you like it. ^^

Just played through this over the course of the afternoon. Absolutely lovied the animated cutscenes; as short as the game may be, there is a heartwarming amount of love put into this. Awesome work.

Got both endings in about ~20 minutes.

Hey! Im glad you enjoyed it! 20 minutes ain't too bad, I know some of the test plays took 30 - 40 minutes to get through it on the first playthrough, but they probably got caught up reading turnip facts. I really hope my next game feels a lot more deep in terms of gameplay. :)

Animation is completed!

These cutscenes make me jump for joy. Splendid work!

Thank you very much ^^

I hope these cutscenes don't make the rest of the game seem boring.
