I'm not stopping anytime soon, I gots to watch more.

Oh, and please, Addy, I don't NEED help with my addiction, I can handle it!
...At least I THINK I can handle it...
So which version are you watching, out of interest? There's the original (which deviates from the proper story line of the manga after heart-breaking death #2) and Brotherhood, which follows the manga storyline to the end.

For reference, Li and panda-girl are in Brotherhood but not the original.
Man, when I was young, Duff McKagan used to be cool. Now he's on Dr. Phil. =/

Watching the original, though I'm planning on watching Brotherhood after I'm finished with the original.
I can't take Brotherhood seriously (even if it's closer to the manga) after watching the original. FMA 03 characters' felt real, while Brotherhood's was bland.
I think the major issue is that they rush the first part of the series in Brotherhood, so instead of this swelling build up of the villains and characters you get a fast-paced piece that doesn't have quite the emotional impact of the original.

I mean, I cried buckets after Heart-Breaking Death 1 & 2* because they built the characters up so much more and you got really attached to them. Even the byplay between the enemy team was really endearing during the first and the villains had more screen time to show off and make you root for their demise (admit it, if Lust #1 had been added to storyline #2 her death scene would have been glorious).

Overall, the second has a better story, but the first has a more-rounded and loved cast. I wish they'd expanded it a little more to show more character interactions and make us love them as much as we did in the first. This is why I watch up to Heart-breaking Death 2 in the first series before switching to the second when rewatching.

...also because I'm a masochist, apparently.

I know I'm supposed to watch FMAB since it's more faithful to the manga, but the cast seriously bored me and I, uh, haha, stopped watching at episode 2 or something. xD
