It's aight. I think you should just stick to one style for now and focus on other aspects of the game. Nothing is definitive yet and you can choose the style that you prefer when the game's finished. By then, you art should be improving considerably, or maybe who knows, an artist might be interest in helping out with portraits for promising projects :O
Either way, portraits are something you can use placeholders, so don't bother too much switching it back and forth right now OvO

I think the point of a sample game is to persuade people of buying VXAce right? So you should just keep the size as small as possible.
If you worry about the quality of the music, you can upload a separate rar folder of high bit rate music, for those who would like to listen to high quality music. I know I would.
