Podcastin' and Checklistin'

To kick this one off, here's a heads up that I'll be in the next episode of the RPG Maker Cola podcast along with Ronove! On my end, there's some detailed discussion of both this game and Master of the Wind, so any Solest fans or even those who are Solest-curious should definitely check it out. I believe it's dropping early next week.

Now for the current to-do list. Two items from the previous one have been resolved. I was able to find a pretty easy solution to the issue I was having with monsters appearing on the map. I also found an outside the box solution to the dinky boat problem. Don't want to spoil the details, but I think you'll enjoy it.

Mapping:
In terms of what needs to be done for the demo, I'm pretty close to finished. There are still some interior maps to do, particularly in Surronto Village. I also will likely add a wilderness area directly adjacent to the village to allow for some quests there.

At some point, I'm going to try and commission an artist to create some tileset materials for the Shallows. I really want this area to be special and not easily confused with the other coastal areas. I'm trying not to jump the gun here since it's not the kind of thing I need done for the demo but it's hard not to get excited thinking about it. Any referrals to pixel artists who might be up for this would be great!

Scripting:
Fomar and I are closing in on having the scripts ready for the demo. All the major issues have been solved, just little things to tinker with at this point.

NPC Population:
This is still a slog. If anyone wants to "sponsor" an NPC (i.e. suggest something funny or interesting for them to say), I'd certainly be receptive.

Storyline Progress:
This is going well enough but I keep having second thoughts about the amount of content with the demo. If I cut it off at the point in the story I was originally considering, the players still will not have met the main antagonist and will have only just met several important characters. Things just work a little differently in a game like this vs. a highly plot-centric game like MotW and I get nervous people will think it's slow or lightweight. But I also know people really want to have a look at this game so I don't want to put the demo release off. July is already going to be tough to pull off, hopefully there aren't too many issues that come up in testing.

That's all for now. Peace bros!

Have an NPC sing Love is a Battlefield!
Having just mucked about in script from before any official english rpg makers, I'm reminded just how long this has been in development. Can't wait, let me know if you want any testers.

Oh, right, I completely forgot to mention: As far as pixel artists go, I've heard good things from people who commissioned Mirak / WorldOnPixels before. You could just try and ask if he can provide what you're looking for.

I mean, yeah, Mirak's pretty great! Would they be RTP style?
Thanks for the recommendation! RTP style would be ideal but I'm not too strict about what that entails. There's some tilesets in the game already that probably stretch the definition of that.
