My self-indulgent mess of a first game, starring an entire cast of dogs!!
Made with RM2k3 with the goal of being the happiest, least scary game ever made on that engine. Vibe-wise, I was going for a mush between The World Ends With You, Chibi-Robo, and Nintendogs. It is cute, bright, and obnoxious.
The game can be beaten once in about an hour.

-About 2000 references to obscure video games that only I will understand

I managed to completely avoid the internet sensation that is Harlem shake, so I don't know what that is (and I don't want to)

It is safe to say that the majority of the first 13000+ downloads are due to Pewdiepie's popularity. This assumption is also supported by the very high download/view ratio (currently roughly 25%).
Now, a lot of regulars here on RMN are attracted to cute screenshots and are influenced by a game's popularity. This might have brought some other downloads, a few hundreds at the most.
What's sad about this is that the hype and attention will most probably die as fast as it came to.
Let's compare with Wither. To my knowledge Wither had no advertising outside of RMN. A lot of people here are also attracted to GameBoy style graphics (Very Retrouvaille and Fabulist also got lots of attention in a very short time thanks to that) and that probably explains Wither's first few downloads.
Players quickly commented on the gamepage about how original and well-thought the game is, which soon helped it get favorable reviews, more downloads and even an official feature. theres something wrong with my game,after i finished the game for the first time (bad ending) i restarted it,and after i got the quest for photos pom got stuck going up,like,it doesnt matter what i did,she still was going up like i was holding the arrow key,but i wasnt! and even when i restarted the game it still was happening.
but seriously,best game ever,i got every single reference,and laughed really hard at the yaoi parts
@Update: after much effort and waiting,i managed to finish the game with the good ending even with the shit that i described above going on,really cool game,i kinda wanted to hear what pom would do with her powers like,all day,but besides that,it was completely great!
Oh,one last thing: I SHIP SHIBHUS!

How to get the legit ending? Didn't like the one i found first time playing it when there was a long dialogue with Shibe and then i killed him. I really want to know what happens in legit ending.

This game looks very interesting, but I'm 99% sure the download is being manipulated, and that disgusts me, so I'm not gonna play it.

I understand that this game now has more downloads than Middens and that doesn't seem right
But I'm a teenage girl with the technologic know-how of an old grandpa jfc have a little more faith in me
On an unrelated note, I'm starting to suspect that the game crashing at the end when trying to play the credits happens to Windows XP users. If you can confirm or deconfirm(?) this, please comment here or message me on my blog!

author=AveeTo be fair, the game had a solid 7,000 notes (roughly the first 3,000 downloads here) on Tumblr the day it was released (8/13).

As a consequence, the game was eventually noticed by Pewdiepie. Pewdiepie uploaded his video on the 14th. But yes, past the first 4,000 or so downloads it's obvious that most of this is his fault.
Tangential aside - Very Retrouvaille was also mostly promoted on Tumblr by its creator.

theres something wrong with my game,after i finished the game for the first time (bad ending) i restarted it,and after i got the quest for photos pom got stuck going up,like,it doesnt matter what i did,she still was going up like i was holding the arrow key,but i wasnt! and even when i restarted the game it still was happening.

One question, HOW THE HELL do I get the other ending, because *SPOILER ALERT* I don't think having a long conversation with Shibe in the end and kill him is the smartest ending I know
Curse my shoutings, found the Legit good ending, I cried tears of joys, hey you should make a sequel, something like they fell down from Heaven and reunited with their master and sh*t happened, just an idea though, I rate your game 10000000/10 (get it?)
you are all doing it right,to get the good ending you just need to not attack shib at the last battle,just wait when he talks and eventually the battle will end without any dying and a happy end
i just want to say that youre a great person,and your game rules,i got every single reference of yours,and i gotta say,you have a pretty good taste,my favorite parts*SOME SPOILERS* were talking near the sakura trees,when pom entered in the machine and said "ITS YAOI O'CLOCK" and my most favorite one was when you fight the stalker dog and pom forces him to say he ships shibhus.
also wanna say that i recognize your avatar pic from persona 3,just so you know (im a big fan of the persona series,and my cats name is Naoto).
and i gotta say i checked yaoi-hands on tumblr and was a little disappointed for not finding your tumblr.
and thats that! great game! and i wish it had like,an easter egg or something like that that changed the history so the game were about cats intead of dogs,because that would be fantastic! Keep up with the great work~~~<33
