Plotholes For all of those really loyal, moral assassins that betray you out there!

Gameplay:

The author writes this off as a ‘story’ RPG – yet you spend a lot of time battling and gaining levels and earning money; so I honestly don’t think the description ‘story’ RPG is what fits this; it seems more like a traditional RPG. It has its standard build up the characters go through the plot, gain levels defeat bosses, have dungeons with puzzles etc. So don’t let that fool you. There’s really nothing special about the game play other than there’s a few mini-games at the school festival that are pretty fun.
I think the most irritating thing is this is marked as a completed game, however this is just 1 chapter of a longer game with no real ending…

Time to beat 7 hours.

Story:

I think this is the hardest thing to rate in this. The goal was clear, yet the story wasn’t clear. You are a young boy named Lance (short for some crazy name + Lancelot at the end). You are a peaceful fisherman and leave your small fishing island which you live on with your dad – or later as you learn, step dad. To ‘work’ for someone… Whom happens to be the leader of a guild of assassins. As you join the guild, you learn that the main character is actually an orphan and has killed people, and this is why they picked you or something like that…? The leader is Cin or Cindy or whatever (All of these characters had so many names… geeze!) and she figured you were a good choice based on your past (how’d she learn it, I dunno? Lance’s dad does business with her I think was the reasoning?
You eventually join Rondel to go and kill this lighthouse manager which… did…… something? I dunno, it never really says, you are just hired to kill him by some unknown, never introduced person. After you kill this guy, you run into this Red Headed swordsman that beat you down. Dun Dun Duuuun! You escape with the help of your assassin buddies and go back to your base. Cin calls you in and now you must go on another mission to kill another rich guy for some mysterious reason (never really says). You join up with a girl named Rin, and go to the university and be university students… and it keeps going and going. Just as you think you’re going to get down to the ‘Whys’ a new can of worms is opened; with more questions of ‘WHY?’ … you will never get answers.

Characters:

There are 6 main playable characters that all rotate based on what part of the mission you are on. The characters seem to have rounded abilities with a strength in one thing. Lance’s was healing; others had magic, others had fighting techniques. It felt like the characters morphed as the story went along to suit the author’s needs. The characters were likable enough, and had good personalities. I just wish I could have played as Rondel and Fang longer. They grew on me the most.

Look and Feel:

The graphics are 90% RTP, and then the rest look like they've been adopted from other tilesets. A lot of the picture faces weren’t RTP, and there were guest appearances from that Kingdom Hearts person, Dante, and a few others listed in the credits, which just seems cheap to me. The music seemed like it was all original; I didn’t recognize any from elsewhere. The picture faces seemed to bounce around a lot from RTP, to home grown, to internet theft. If anyone figures out what the red-headed swordsman’s face was from – I’d like to know, I could have sworn I’ve seen it from somewhere…
The mapping wasn’t bad; and everything worked. Also, you can strongly tell that this is not a native speaker of English (as they state in the description). For a non-native the grammar was filled with the strange mistakes that an Asian would make – so you start reading and giving everyone an Asian accent in your head. If that is something you can’t stand then steer clear of this game. It didn't bother me too much, I just started doing Asian head-nodding when I was reading the lines.

Overall:

I think this was hard to judge. It kept my interest, but I think that’s because I was searching and waiting for answers…. Answers that never come. It was challenging enough to be exciting, but not frustrating. Every time I found something to root for in this game, something that gave me a bad feeling stole the happiness… There’s also just too much story cleaning that needs to be done. Also, if anyone ever figures out why this is called Lost Greenlight, I’d like to know.

First of all, thanks for the review. I know this is my first game and I've tried the best to familiarize myself on the game engine. I also glad you liked my mini-games, they were 70% evented by myself and they'll be featured in the second game too.

My favorite writing style is to let the mystery revealed from time to time; That's why I only provide a bare background of almost all characters (except Lance, coz you play as him lol). From the bare background, more will be revealed and I think it's more memorable rather than introducing the character instantly.

Regarding the red-headed swordman, he is designed by Kiyoto Kaduki, I think I've wrote his name. And you're right I am Asian, all of those dialogues are completely direct-translated by my brain into english, sometimes I also have difficulty in hearing native english accent, that's possibly the same like u write my dialogue. But I hope it's understandable.

Lost Greenlight's meaning will be in the second game, although I've provided a small hint in the middle of the first game.

Yeah, I think if the game finished and more questions were answered, it would have been more satisfying; I was always so excited to be getting somewhere, but I never hit that 'yey! I accomplished something! I found something out!' feeling, because as soon as I learned something new, I had a whole bunch more things to find out. I played it straight for 7 hours on Friday; so it's definitely entertaining enough. =)
