Been working on the ascetics of the game this week making small tweaks to make the game look prettier. I added a counter to the butter/health bar so it can be read as a percentage.

I also redid the gears effect that appears when enemies are damaged

As well as adding more bubbles of different sizes.

and bug fixes that aren't too interesting.

Hello again, everyone! I spent this week on the Garden stage music and finishing up a good chunk of the sound effects. I’m glad to be getting close to finished with the sound, so we can focus on music. Etienne had some notes on the Garden stage - our general process is that I go a little too crazy and he reigns it back in. It seems to be working out well so far, haha!  Just a reminder that you can hear a lot of the soundtrack so far here:

So this week I really had to think about the upgrade system for a while. This is something I have worked on and off for quite a while now actually but I often get discouraged and start doing something else.

I thought I’d discuss this with you guys and read what you thought about the system.

Basically, it’s like this. Your character, Pan, has a certain amount of “open slots”. Those slots are limited. Those slots act as equipment slots. I’m thinking of one slot for the head, one for the torso, one for each arm and one for each leg.

That would mean 5 slots in total. Basically, you would have a “pool” of abilities which can be unlocked by spending BNA capsules.

The more beneficial the ability, the more BNA is needed to unlock it.

An open slot would (might) look like this:

An ability, would (might) look like this (would it look without the slice of bread behind?):

I’m not sure if the slice of bread is necessary or not here. This is all really, really WIP. I’m basically sharing this to read what you have to say.

Locked abilities would look like this:

How's the presentation? Should I put the padlock beside the icon instead of on top? Would it look better that way?

Is this a good way to display a power-up? Maybe I should put the padlock under the ability instead of over it as you can’t see the icon that way?

What do you guys think? C’mon, don’t be a stranger, share your thoughts! :)

Hi guys !
This week I was working, like on the previous devlog, on the differents levels and on some ennemis. The goal is always to make a game most original and fun possible.
For the moment I don't have enough stuff to show you (aside some cool ideas for Office and Dining Room levels.)
Anyway I begin to study the book: "The rules of play".  A big classic I never read because i was talking english really bad and it doesn't exist in french :'( But now that is a little better, so i try.

Stay tuned, more stuff soon.
Goulven.

”What is your favorite game and why?”
I personally don’t play a lot of games but out of the ones I have; my current favourite is Titanfall but my favourite game of all time has got to be Portal 2. The humour and sarcasm through out the game is so in sync with my own and the overall feel to the game is perfect. Even if a little frustrating at times.
Have a good week
