Alter A.I.L.A. Genesis takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. You play the role of a young man known as Leon, who seeks to survive in the harsh environment he is brought into.

Exploration is done mainly via a side-scrolling view. In certain areas, an exclamation mark will sometimes appear, indicating the presence of hostiles. Press Z when this happens to initiate battle, or wait to let it pass. Sometimes battle will be unavoidable. When walking, enemy encounters won't occur.

The battle system revolves mainly around each character's Abilities, which are a set of commands specific to that character. Abilities require AP and EX to use. AP is gained every time a character takes a turn. The default is 2. EX is gained every time a character uses an Ability. The default is 1. Note that this may change depending on the situation.

"Known Glitches"
Due to the limited functionality of the RPG Maker 2003 engine, there are various glitches and bugs which are unfortunately unfeasible or impossible to fix:
- Sometimes during an action, the battle data of a character will be temporarily overwritten with another character's, causing them to not perform as expected for that round.
- In certain cases, player actions can be interrupted by the enemy or other character's actions. To minimize the occurance of this, wait for current actions to finish before selecting an action with another character.
- Using items and guarding doesn't trigger the code to check for enemy deaths. You need to actually use an ability, or let the enemies take a turn.
- Although not a bug, Active Mode should be changed to Passive Mode in the in-game menu to prevent enemies from acting while you are taking an action.

"Hints and Tips for Boss Battles"
- Don't expect to just be able to spam regular attacks until you can use your Exceed ability. You won't win an attrition war with the enemy party.
- Always target the enemy's weakness if you can. If you want, think of this as a Shin Megami Tensei game. :P
- Make sure to keep your HP up. The vast majority of bosses have pretty powerful high EX costing abilities that'll wipe out your party if you're not expecting it.

- That said, keep in mind, the enemy is subject to the same rules as the party. In other words, they're also gaining AP and EX, and they also need it to use their more hard-hitting abilities. So if you can prevent them from using them while still retaining the ability to use yours, you'll be able to beat any boss.
- You can tell how much EX an enemy's ability uses by looking at the name of the ability. Similar to your character's abilities, it'll show up as the number of squares on the left side of the name.
- Of course, the above passes quickly so isn't that reliable of a method. As a general rule, you can expect that:
- Anything that uses an element other than Force likely costs at least 1 EX
- Anything that does multi-targetting likely costs at least 1 EX
- Anything that hits everyone hard probably costs 2 or more EX
- Anything that outright kills someone from full health, or makes you swear "Bullshit! That can't happen!" is likely an Exceed ability.
- Chances are it'll also be very flashy.
- Obviously, there's going to be some exceptions, but for the most part, this can be followed.

- Don't ignore Field Effects either. Bosses don't, and the Field Effects they use generally stack things in their favor. It's not just about dealing as much damage as quickly as you can. A lot of times, it's also about controlling the situation.
- Modes, Field Effects, and Boost ailments all stack. If you're creative, you may be able to create a situation where you can pretty much negate everything the boss throws at you, while tossing out Exceed abilities every turn. Bosses won't stand a chance.

MAP SAVE FREEZE: If you're changing things in this game in the editor and your save file freezes on the world map as a result, press F9, go to switch 112 and 113, and turn them both OFF. That should fix it.

@neok NP i was looking for a good RPG that was not boring and i couldnt cheat at all and forced me to revive the good days of FFVI, you accomplished more than that, oh and nice RE4.

odd in off it would refure to recognize the folder of alter aila genesis until i made a proyect and clicked on make a disc and i unclicked the RPT option.
There isn't any place to always find Tinder. Your best bet is to keep going to a place with a Tinderbot and hope he appears there at some point.

To open it, just drop AAG's folder inside RM2k3's folder and open the program, then load the game from inside.

No problem. Thanks for playing :)
@neok, street tournament huh? well i have 40K on cash due to good parts farming ( i got chaos mode and i am not sure if i sold the pulsar mode, if i start the NG+ will it respawn?) it's time to screw my opponents with breakdown fields and spamming 800 pts of damage.

at the point where i am how can i locate timber? or he will make a late show up with some sort of permanent store?.

finally RPG maker 2003 i have it installed (along with the XP and VX version) how do i open it? i am curious to see how you magnaged to stuff all this awesome stuff in there.

i am having serious issues to open it since for some odd reason RPG maker 2003 wont allow me to open the folder, or do i need to use a separate method?

and i was forgetting my manners thanks for your help so far.

Mmh, you should probably learn and practice proper grammar and punctuation. Especially if you want to write a guide...

G.U.A.R.D.I.A.N (also where do i find this one aside from timber, tvtropes is vague about this

Avalon 2

Questions: where do i get the choas and pulsar modes? i have only those left to get.

Avalon 1, Abandoned City

good place to grind for exp before avalon?

Honestly, don't know about any before avalon... Maybe the Street Tournament?

also did the guard glitch got fixed?

Nope. Unfixable.

Finally where is the open source version?

Latest version. You need RPG Maker 2003 installed to open it though.

and for the sequel, do you still accept character suggestions?.

Nope. Sorry.

also thanks for the maps . i am gonna start a guide for this and they will be very usefull.

No problem.

oh and you posted the solution for the glowing orbs somewhere after page 10

Oops.

ah! i was forgetting i discovered two game breaking bugs the first is an ugly glitch it can be done by running using shift or in the underwater facility 1 or two pressing up with some sort of timing, the result is that the character will be walking on air, yet will be unable to leave the area forcing you two quit, it also works as a walk trough wall glitch.

the other is related to underwater facility 2, on the glowing orbs puzzle if you quit and did saved there or did not saved at all and it's after you started the next one in the series will not lit up, it can be worked around by leaving the stage and entering inl

Thanks for the report :).
@neok, thanks, i figured some of the solutions for the ligth all the orb sphere it's all based around the center orbs and moving trough the corners, they also have a set pattern of how the turn on ( usually they will turn from 3 to 5 ligths) i am at avalon point and most of my guys are on the late 20's few are on 30, i figured out what you meant on the intro so i have a tip and a suggestion for other users (and other questions, if you do not mind)

Tips: kill much stuff and try to get early the exeed boosters, make sure you get the crush fields too and DO NOT leave jackal, specifically the damn area, tinder should be there, kill enemies near a save point to farm cash and parts, sell them and buy the SPD booster and the S.P.E.A.R synchs, 12 of them should be in off.

next step is make sure animat and exceed fields on hand along with toxification and paradox field.

here is what you do: first round you spam the crush fields and hope for they to get both AP and SPD crush, then you launch paradox, with this you will launch SPD boost oh and make sure you have monochrome field on hand to enlarge the boost time.

you will now be activating exceed and animat fields this will work on your favor dramatically with the party of indy, violet and scott, it's borderline game breaker why? there is a great chance all 3 characters will get full AP on one round and full exceed power allowing you to go crazy, but it fits better for casual mode.

for non casual mode users, the opposite is what i suggest, in other words, do not use the exceed field, insteald use the break down field mixed with S.P.E.A.R or G.U.A.R.D.I.A.N (also where do i find this one aside from timber, tvtropes is vague about this), the main reason is that the bosses will be limited to non exceed attacks and AP crush will avoid them to have a lot of chances to pull off anything funny in the mean time leon and violet should be spamming their exceeds and erin healing, also it applies to casual mode too.

Questions: where do i get the choas and pulsar modes? i have only those left to get.

good place to grind for exp before avalon? i know that with smart playing it's cake to do so but i always like to have my charas on decent levels, something i cannot get off since i started with FF4 and Fire Emblem.

also did the guard glitch got fixed?

also thanks again, and thanks for the maps i am gonna start a guide for this game and they will be very usefull.

Here ya go. A map of the maze on the right (you start at the white square, going to the black), and the teleports maze on the left (match up symbols to figure out which teleporter goes where. You want the teleporter with the "+" sign)

The Tear of All Ocean is the strongest sync in the game. You won't be getting that for a while...

I don't really have set solutions for the other two puzzles. Just work them out the best you can.
umm, hello, good afternoon can any one give me directions on how do i beat the under water labrynth, on underwater facility 2,upper left crystal near a pillar, i have traversed it for almost an hour and i only found the original teleporter, and there are no vids of YT that show how to beat this

also what is the desired order to traverse the portals that will eventually send you to the shard that is under
water facility 2

also how do i get the tear of all ocean?

and can the author @neok post the solution for all puzzles of underwater facility 2? i want to make a vid showing how to bypass all of them
any help is appreciated.

It's located in the second "large room with girders". Look for a place where you can drop down.
Best RPG maker I ever played. The orignal AA was awesome as well.
Almost finished with optional content.But...
Can`t find the last shard, which seems to be in Below Stynx 3.I`m probably overlooking something obvious, but can anyone help?

Thanks xD
Um, sure!

(I don't have to do anything, do I?)
This needs a flash series badly...with Neok's permission of course. :)
Yeah, um, I just checked the 2010 Misao lists and, AAG got second in every category? This has to be a curse on the whole damn series. Or the website. Probably the website. I vote that AAV be on Newgrounds.
Sorry man. No idea what that is. Try resetting your computer or re-downloading the game.
I havea Problem when i went to load my save file it said

Steam read Error

what do i do
Make your way to the top of the area, where there should be one of those color changing switches. Set it so that the bridge connects the lower left with the lower right, then make your way to the lower left part of the area.
The first one with the switches that change color each time you step on them.
