What's this? Following your daily routine you suddenly get surrounded by a lightning and hear the sound of thunder. Your vision clears and find yourself inside of an old, crumbling castle. After a brief moment you realize that it's not a dream - it's uncomfortable reality, which you want to escape from as fast as possible. In addition, you're being watched by the crazy Lord Default...
Default Adventures is a retro-style RPG Maker 2003 game which unites elements of the adventure and puzzle genres. I started it as a fun project. Well, it also ended as one. The current version is 1.06.
Things about the game you should know from the start:
- It has a linear gameplay.
- Sometimes it seems to be unfair.
- Sometimes it IS frustrating.
- The "dialogues" are written in strange english and seem uninteresting.
- There's a late evolving storyline.
- Saving the game is only possible at certain points.
- The music and almost all graphics were taken from open sources.
Didn't stop reading? Congratulations, here's the good part about the game:
- You may choose between a female and a male character.
- You're able to look up many things in the menu:
* Your game progress. It increases not only with your advance in the story, but also with
* every of the 19 optional secrets and
* every of the 25 items you find ingame.
(note: maximum is 99% at the end, which results in 100% after beating the whole game)
- Lots of puzzles and games of skill inspired by other games.
- There's an awesome ingame manual!
- It intends to be humorous and not as serious as it seems.
- Estimated playing time for beginners: 5-7 hours.
- There's a changelog for older versions of the game. But don't take a look - it's embarrassing!
