What's this? Following your daily routine you suddenly get surrounded by a lightning and hear the sound of thunder. Your vision clears and find yourself inside of an old, crumbling castle. After a brief moment you realize that it's not a dream - it's uncomfortable reality, which you want to escape from as fast as possible. In addition, you're being watched by the crazy Lord Default...

Default Adventures is a retro-style RPG Maker 2003 game which unites elements of the adventure and puzzle genres. I started it as a fun project. Well, it also ended as one. The current version is 1.06.

Things about the game you should know from the start:
- It has a linear gameplay.
- Sometimes it seems to be unfair.
- Sometimes it IS frustrating.
- The "dialogues" are written in strange english and seem uninteresting.
- There's a late evolving storyline.
- Saving the game is only possible at certain points.
- The music and almost all graphics were taken from open sources.

Didn't stop reading? Congratulations, here's the good part about the game:
- You may choose between a female and a male character.
- You're able to look up many things in the menu:
* Your game progress. It increases not only with your advance in the story, but also with
* every of the 19 optional secrets and
* every of the 25 items you find ingame.
(note: maximum is 99% at the end, which results in 100% after beating the whole game)
- Lots of puzzles and games of skill inspired by other games.
- There's an awesome ingame manual!
- It intends to be humorous and not as serious as it seems.
- Estimated playing time for beginners: 5-7 hours.
- There's a changelog for older versions of the game. But don't take a look - it's embarrassing!

From the changelog:

1.06
- added an option to escape the chair room if players find themselves stuck in it
- made the missing platforms in the invisibility room visible in the entry sequence
- the hero now moves out of the elder's way in the very first room when blocking his path
- reworked some dialogue lines at the end of the game
- made the 100% ending more rewarding (:

Glad you like it and had the endurance to play so far.

Here's a hint for your problem:
Take a closer look at the first letter of every "Default" grave.

Thanks for the tip!!!

Feel free to ask again.
Finished the game yesterday and was very cool. The puzzles were variable from easy to hard, other requiring skill and other wits.I especially loved the graveyard one with the riddles, the labyrinth that the time was slowed and the "ridiculesly" :) hard labyrinth of walking dudes. You should check some minor things though:
a)in the guest room i know that you intended for the bunny girl to be annoying, but when you enter the invisible room and the underwater room she moves all the time hindering your movement and it is more than just annoying, some times i couldnt progress for 4-5 seconds because of her.in the chair room that she doesnt move all is cool.
b)after you get the crystal of hopes, there is no auto saving(well except the thingy with the wackamole). So i wanted to replay the game to see if i can find the remaining secrets and finish it again, but dropped it cause i had to play a rather large portion.Maybe you could put an auto save after the parody of the steins;gate anime(very funny by the way and excellent anime that one)?
c)last in the sea of walking dudes, the idea was very good but the controls are sometimes a little buggy. So when you move one pace to the right/left or up/down the character might move two and its all over again. You might want either to fix a little the controls or trim a little the labyrinth down.
Anyway could you tell me if i finish the game with all the secrets do i get a different ending?

Thanks for the feedback!

a) Yes, the maid (or butler, if you play the female character) is intended to be enormously annoying. But you did it. (;
b) You can get all secrets even at the end of the game. Some can be accessed after some story progress, others are always available. So don't worry about "too much" progress! By the way, remember the closed door in the church? You can somehow access it at the end of the game... take a closer look in the guest chambers again...
c) Yeah, this is something that's been bugging me for a long time. I really like the difficulty of this room, but the controls are indeed annoying at times. That room had many bug fixes before release and this is the best I could manage so far. At least there's the safe spot, heh. Perhaps I'll look at this issue again some time...

Well, the ending is just slightly different. The 100% are mainly for perfectionists and explorers. (;
