Th-Tha-Th-Tha-Th-That's All, Folks!

Finally this game is done~ And not a day too soon. Seriously, if it'd taken one extra day none of us would be getting that sweet little boost in MS that is granted to games this month.

All said and done, it was an interesting experience. I've learned a lot about handling a project and (not) meeting deadlines and, oh, so many other things. Teleports can break, code can be hard to figure out - you wouldn't believe how differently some people code things! - sudden map tree errors can have you in tears (seriously, last night, just before uploading, I had a map tree error occur. Luckily I'd been sharing with a tester at the time and that copy was still safe. It made me cry!), testing can take much longer than the 30 minutes you'd thought (try over 4 hours! Thank you so much for your help NewBlack!) and things can go terribly wrong with just one touch of code.

I don't know that I'll ever revisit a Halloween Mapping challenge, but if I do, it'll have stricter guidelines. I got a lot of good surprises from this project, a few bad ones and a lot of ... well, memories. I've picked up a bit from each person who added to the project, though. Effective usage of pictures, new ways to code and think, better organisational skills. So for all of that, and more, thank you.

Thank you alterego.
Thank you arcan.
Thank you chana.
Thank you Deckiller.
Thank you Demicrusaius.
Thank you Faenon.
Thank you Gibmaker.
Thank you Happy.
Thank you Julev.
Thank you Marrend.
Thank you Legion/Max.
Thank you Merlinman.
Thank you psy_wombats.
Thank you SGCN.
Thank you Sillydan.
Thank you Zephyr.
Thank you Zyntax.
Thank you NewBlack.

You've all done so well and been so patient with me, putting up with my missed deadlines, computer/internet issues, lack of inspiration, last minute fixes and accidental hypage.

I hope you all feel proud to be a part of this project and have fun playing it.

Thank you very much Liberty! Will post my thoughts after I finish the game, some of these puzzles are tough.

Mind blown.

Thank you, Liberty, for having the determination to finally put this together, despite everything that got in the way. Not to mention for putting up with the bugfixes that are just now coming in, thanks to the public download.

Looking great! very creepy at some parts, enjoying it a lot even if there's not that much to do, like the intro, great job! (I don't know how much is your work and how much the different mappers, but it doesn't matter). The puzzle in the barrel room is unfeasible imo though, also I'm stuck in a tiny room coming up stairs after findind the LEHM DAN LEOVSG, etc., managed to save there though, with 9.
Can you send me your save file so I can see where the issue is?
As for what I did - basically a few cutscenes in my own rooms, made a few items for linkage, transitions, maps, making sure everyone else's stuff worked - that sort of stuff. (Also intro and ending.) I mainly left everyone's rooms as they were unless I found a bug.

You can see a list of which room belongs to which person in the Mapping Credits tab.
Great end-result I'd say. Although we just need minor debugging, most has worked out just fine.
Was the game supposed to be filled with save-files at download?
Some of them seem messed up or broken, so I presume not.

Maybe you could put the number of the maps in the Mapping Credits Tab, seen some are only bits of maps it's pretty tough to figure out.
I did have to look at the code to get the answer for marron's room too.

Who is this "marron"? I don't think there was such a person.

I have my suspicions on where you might be. Even if you are not at that location, this just makes me smile.
The only one puzzle that I didn't really solved, was the chapel's organ. I pressed the thing that I though was the code, and nothing happened (and I checked the walktru). Then I went crazy and just pressed the two numbers and voilĂ  x'D.

But it all was wonderful C:!

Well, I had *ahem* some extra time to submit my maps so I went I bit overboard with that. ^^; (and still managed to screw up.)

On the subject of bugfixing. My maps have some pasability/priority issues that weren't there when I submitted them. Nothing too serious, except for some tiles of one table that don't let you read the book in the hidden room in the cellar. There are other bugs present but those were more of my fault. I can fix them myself though, and send the maps in again if that's Ok...

Also, while not technically a bug, my main gripe with the game is that the atmosphere is not consistent at all. Some rooms are much darker than others, and some have complex lighting effects, (among other things) and the transition between them just doesn't feel 'natural'. I know that messing too much with people's rooms would probably defeat the purpose of this experiment, but I think this is the one aspect of the game that should be made more homogeneous because I think it detracts from the whole experience... What do you guys think? xP

Also, while I'm here, I want to tip my hat to Gibmaker, Demicrusaius, SGCN and Merlinman. Your rooms are the best of all! ;D

I must admit some of those rooms are really flabbergasting, much more than I expected (I don't know whose...)!

Looking at your chapel, and the bathroom, and the main hall. And peeking at the dungeons and the kitchen... they're not the same. Aren't bad! But... maybe the authors could give a sneak peek at other's maps and get a grasp :P.

BUT ANYWAY, enjoyable as a whole!
Well, if I were to mess with anything concerning room 'looks' it'd be just adding a tint, but in some cases it's part of the code/puzzle. In others... well, I get where you're coming from but I figure since the 'house' isn't really a house, so much as a 'dreamstate' of the house... or something there-abouts, a bit of inconsistancy should be okay.

A bit of backstory for Emi and her father:

He's a small-time exorcist who started out as a fake until he met Delilah, Emi's mother, who had the ability to sense the after-images of the departed. They eventually married and had Emi and her older brother, Michel. Delilah died of an illness and Michel disappeared whilst travelling after his graduation. That left Emi and her father.

He was reluctant to get back into the business but Emi had such strong powers that where ever she went she began to see the traces of people who died - mostly their last thoughts impressed apon the landscapes, though the darker the death/person the stronger the impression. She was content to just talk to the after-images until one day she met Michel's and since then she's pushed her father to help her use her powers to help others, despite her young age.

They were called to an old manor that is being knocked down to build a new hotel, due to strange happenings making the workers uneasy, but mostly because the new owner had heard rumours of what used to go on in the manor and wanted to be sure that there'd be no issues with the new building.

Set up in one of the rooms, Emi enters the 'thoughts' of the house to meet the impressions of those left behind. Her powers have grown strong enough that just interacting with the denizens and learning their stories is enough to wrest them free from their bindings to that area... for a short while.

After she checks a place out her father uses rituals to cleanse the area and block the 'ghosts' from ever returning. Bereft of their 'place' in the world, they're free to move on - to where ever the dead spirits go.

Or something to that effect.

I want to precise that I am in no way responsible for the dialogue occurring in my map, which was totally redone (mine was stricly humoristic) which I find rather perverse.
Sorry, but costumed Halloween characters didn't fit with the whole 'after-image' dreamscape thing. I also had to change the back wall of your map and used that knife. Yours isn't the only one I had to change. I added stuff to the Attic, the Chapel, changed some text in the Children's room, changed the Guest room exit, changed the...
You know, if you really care I could just make a list.

Haha, my map was terrible in hindsight.
I had to read the walkthrough to get through my map. The attic was the best!
