- In order to see the offer, you must be on the latest version of GMS:Free (version 1.2.1214). Once you're on 1.2.1214, the offer will become available in the project launcher.
- To that end, make sure you license with a current e-mail address that you use frequently so if you start collecting modules or upgrades it's less of a hassle! Game Maker Studio's licensing structure ties all your modules and upgrades to one e-mail address, and if you use a spam-catcher, you're just going to make it painful on yourself.
- Because of how the Game Maker Studio licensing structure works, this upgrade will get you $50 credit toward a purchase of Game Maker Studio Professional. I highly recommend this because it comes with all sorts of features that Standard doesn't have, including the ability to add export modules for different platforms.
- This offer does not include a Steam key for Game Maker Studio. However, a purchase of Professional does include one.

CloseI have Game Maker Pro but via Steam (someone gifted it to me!). If I download this Standard version, it won't bork my Pro install will it (do you think)?

It shouldn't. I say this because I can't actually test this out on my old computer because I still have it authorized for Master Collection, and there's no deauthorization mechanism (authorization just expires server-side after 30 days of non-use). I'll have to try it on one of the campus computers. It's very likely that if you attempt this, it'll detect your Professional version install and open that up instead.
Also, since I can't tell if it actually hands over a license right now, people should remember that if you don't have a license key, you don't own the software. If the program doesn't fork over a key, you'll probably need to get Professional to keep the program if this offer is time-limited in any way. So look at it as the trial Game Maker Studio should have had (instead of a trial that limits you to 19 sprites ._. ).

I am on a machine that has no GM installed and I will be using an email that isn't associated with Steam, so I will try this out start to finish and let you guys know some more details.
So the free version is 1.2.1135, and I am not seeing an evident way in the engine to upgrade to 1214. I was NOT prompted to upgrade to Standard edition yet. I will have to poke around...

What you need to do is when prompted, choose to get updates from the Beta site, and not the Stable branch. I changed my settings, and now 1214 is being downloaded and installed. I will let you know if I get prompted to upgrade to Standard!
So yeah, right there in the opening tab there was a big ol' splash page asking me to upgrade to Standard for free! So I did. I registered my email, and I was sent a product registration key, entered it in and BAM! Game Maker Studio Standard is unlocked and ready to roll!

Well they say it for Christmas and if they give standard forever they will lose money at this point so it could be limited until the end of the year.

Well when activate and check if the license is activated and it did but it still say my software is Unlicense.

If you have a valid key, it's definitely licensed. Contact the helpdesk and they should be able to help you out. There have been instances where the licensing will revert back to free (I've had this happen to me before).
Edit: I can definitely confirm this works, because I just watched it work on 1.2.1220 on a fresh install. If you're having trouble, the helpdesk should be able to help you out, not only with successful licensing, but with getting your 'None' name changed to whatever you prefer.
