You are Eric Loire, a veteran of the ten year war. Two years has passed since and the two kingdoms have sought peace. But it now appears that peace could be broken. Having been falsely accused of stealing the Dragon's Tear, the symbol of truce between the two nations, you set off and try to find the real thief and clear your name.

Among Thieves won Project of the Year 2012 over at Monkey Productions!

Big thanks to Miracle for Css-ing the shit out of my games page. All credit needed for that is Miracles. It looks great doesn't it ;D

This particular game was actually a remake of a game I was making when I was like 14-15. The story is very simple, it's not about saving the world or defeating ultimate evil. It's about two groups of people going after the same treasure, each for their own reasons. The gameplay is fairly standard rpg fare, and the graphics are all rips and edits. So.. Now you're probably thinking why would you want to check out or even look forward to a release.. Because it is just a simple, hopefully enjoyable rpg to pass the time and it doesn't try to be anything more.

I'll try to keep this updated, but for now, enjoy what's to offer and.. Yeah, thanks for looking!

Just letting you guys know..

Ohk so my laptop that has this game on its screen was smashed while I was away. Don't worry I literally had just backed everything up on a HDD a couple days earlier. So everything's fine and there just.. I have nothing to work with until I can either get it fixed or replaced, its still under warranty though.

Onto some better news I maybe changing up the battle system, specifically the skills of the characters. Yah see I've always wanted to have no magic within this game but having skills or specials from the characters kinda negates that. That's where I came up with an ammo system idea, see I always wanted to add guns to this game and having the players go out buy specific ammo for each skill could be that way I can incorporate this kinda idea.

Btw if this doesn't make sense let me know as I'm doing this from my phone right now. Please let me know or if you have any suggestions as discussing the game is all I can do right now sadly :\

If you even do so much as think about hitting that "cancelled" button, at any point in the future, I will hate you forever.

Seriously, I want this game. I want first dibs on beta tester.

I'll try not to let you down, but don't get your expectations high or anything for DT.

I'm mostly joking. My expectations aren’t that high (meeeow!), I’m just really interested what kind of game you can produce. I already know you can map like a beast, but I wonder what other things you focus on. Even though you’re aiming to create a simple experience, you have a good head on your shoulders, and I think the time spent hanging around the scene and playing RM games, will show. So yeah, not that high at all!
Im happy you are continuing work on this project. If you are free I like to talk about projects and development, it definitely helps getting ideas and feedback. Other than that sub!

Crud, this game has a lot better graphics than mine and I think we use similar chipsets too... I’d say I have some competition but that’s like saying a McDonald’s cheeseburger stands up agents a club sandwich. And by the sounds of things you’re demo will actually be out before New Years. I still need to find a deceit title screen too.

So... predictable.

Oh thank you, but all credit goes to Miracle though for that.
is the title/direction change a result of subtle commentary on the use of rips?

No, not particularly, though that is quite a hilarious take on it haha. The name change came about to reflect the story better and because I've never really liked the name "Dragon's Tear" anyway.
Hey.

I'd like to civilly ask you to not use character and faceset edits directly ripped from my resource folder. Everything else is fair game naturally, but Im namely talking about Thanatos, the Ragan Black Guards, and anything else I happen to have missed.

Thanks for continuing to follow my game despite my departure and good luck.

Everything's a place holder right now, don't worry about it. If I haven't finished what I wanted to place in I usually put something in it's place to move forward with progress, coming back to it later.

The face sets are definitely going to be replaced, your don miguel edit will be yours.

I also recognize a few other things, namely interface elements from Xeno's old game, a map that looks strikingly similar from a town from Philosopher's stone, another UI element taken directly from the former.

Er, why are you filling your screenshots with so many placeholders?
