Progress Report

Should probably give an update...

Hi,

Still working on this. The journey through Sol Oriens isn't very long but I've been trying to work on upping my map skills.

I also have a lot of plans this spring and haven't had as much time to work on things. Hoping to work harder in May when things settle down.

...Still Working...

So I'm still working on my first dungeon of the next section - and it's really big with another dungeon inside.

I wanted to know - What excites you about a dungeon the most? Enemies? Puzzles? Just the over all look, feel, sound? I think the overall look feel and sound is the most important, followed by enemies that are challenging but not too horrifically annoying (except for maybe 1)

I'm not sure how I feel about puzzles. I feel like in order to make them any challenge at all, I'll lose people. I don't like the 'give the person information on what to do' stuff, I like the learn from experience type of puzzle. Any ideas?

Announcement

First section of the game is out!

Here it is! The last day of summer, and I have finally posted the first 1/3-1/4 of the game. I've spent so much time playing and replaying it to make sure it runs well.... but I am honestly happy to be back to programming. I want to thank anyone who has also played through it! Roy, DEHU92 and a few others.

I really hope that you will take your time with this, and find all of the secrets. I may be posting a 'guidebook' so you can pick everything up - but honestly, I really want you to look around and be the adventurer!

It really is like an old RPG, you might have to grind for exp and coin, but it shouldn't be too bad. You also won't always be directly told to do something, so be on the look out all of the time!

So close I can taste it! ... and it tastes like BACON.

So I've been play testing the crap outta this... so much crap has left there's nothing but deliciousness left. I'm thinking I'm going to need to write a player's guide...

(Gets out rocking chair on porch and cane to shake) You young'ins don't know how to find old gaming secrets like us veterans do. I add lots of extras like - little scenes, hidden side quests, and other paths. Along with hidden treasures. Games now-a-days treat you like sniveling little babies! Y'all need to grow up and be MAN (or woman, of course) gamers!
Back when I was your age, we played through a Vidja-ma-game 2 or 3 times and talked to every towny and checked every pot! (puts away rocking chair and cane)

Still hunting for a grammar nazi though. I need one to read my text. I write too much like how I talk, and sometimes that doesn't make sense in text.

Play testers

Looks like I got a new bout of play testers; it's very encouraging when someone wants to invest their time in your game <3. Hopefully that will keep me on track to getting this posted at the end of summer. I've completely redone one of my dungeons. It was too stale. I also added a few more enemies for variety.

I think playing Final Fantasy 5 this summer has helped me with dungeoneering a bit. I'm starting to develop plans for my next dungeons! woot!

Hopefully by next month around this time I will be posting telling y'all to DL my next section. C=

Still working...

So I've gotten a few more play-throughs done, and added some more story details. I re-did one of my dungeons. It was originally done from Dungeon generator - and I regret it. I did salvage it for later though - will probably fix it up still. Still need someone to review spelling and grammar though.

Mini Break over! Work now!

So I took a mini-break to get some class work done, and of course, to go to an anime convention, but now it's time to get the ball rolling again.

I think my play-testers conked out on me, so it's back to just me play testing again.

I added a brand new intro, and will play everything over and over again until I get it right. Then I will release the first chunk of my game. I hope it doesn't take me too long, I hope to release the next piece by the end of the summer if not sooner.

Progress Report

Yey! Happy 6 months!

I just realized it's been 6 months since I've started this project. I'm really excited that I've stuck with it for so long, and every time I sit down to work I can't wait to see what will happen next! (Even though, I kinda know what's happening next!)

I'm still waiting for my play testers to get some feedback to me, so I can release more of the game for people to have. If anyone wants to join them, then be my guest - PM me!

Game Design

Found some tilesets... just not the ones I was looking for!

So I was roaming the internet, looking for some good desert tiles, because let's face it. RTP is abysmal in the desert category... It's got what, 1 cactus, a palm tree, and some sand? ... and I ran across this nice forest set.

I always hated my forest maze, it just felt so unnatural. Well I spent most of yesterday fixing it up, and now I'm kinda impressed with myself. It's not quite natural yet, but it looks so much better than it did.

Still however, looking for a good desert tile set.

Request

Looking for more play testers!

I have one happy little minion playing, is there anyone else that want's to give the next section a go?

Is anyone interested in my game enough to post the next section after the play testers say it's not too broken...?

I just hate posting things that aren't quality.
