The World Travelers- How it all started

The concept for the world traveler started out when I was back in high school in the 1990's.
Back then, when fan fiction was on it's golden age and fan comics were everywhere I wanted to make my self an avatar that would be everything that I wanted.

This is Hirrayami, he represents my self and his first appearance was on a star wars anime xover made on the "Fan-fiction pergamin".
Deals with time and space and using anime as parallel worlds and/or actors playing roles on 'tv series'. And then with a group of friends and partners, things went deeper and serious.

Dilly dally, too much info; It is like 15 years of story here.

Anyways, I wanted now to continue onto his story in a more dynamic way. I wanted to make games, and animations; started on flash but was too difficult.

Then RPG maker came along. I started experimenting on it since the import of 2000 version for PC. But didnt do much since I heard it was 'illegal'.
Now that it has being brought officially i am giving it more into it.

Chronicles of the world traveler started as a concept 5 years ago as a sequel to Records of the world traveler which was the first story line of world crossing and where the guardian concept was first created.
With the mayor series of dragon ball, tenchi muyo, ranma 1/2 and sailor moon as mayor plot lines into the mix (which was my first favorite series back then). Then it added gundam and other series from anime, megaman series and the tales series concepts and so on.

For anyone who wants to have an idea of what a world guardian is; think back on the original dub of dragon ball z, what Kami was called back then. Well something like that.
Now to that, add the Time Patrollers and you'll have the World Guardians, but not only covers single worlds, but time and space and parallel universes.

Alas, to have a limit, i also added the equivalence exchange in power levels and skills according to the world they are going (another concept taken from star ocean 3), to remain withing the limits of chaos and order in the world else it will bring dire consequences to the world that way there will be a limit of over powered beings invading a world.

The limiters would be set on the user, alas they can break those limiters on emergencies to get their full power, but it still bring dire consequences to the world. Also, once a world guardian 'dies' on the world they are in; their physical body is destroyed and they cannot return to that world until 1,000 years of said world has passed.

I explaining all this because my first game that showed them world guardians was my doctor who fan game; but Chronicles goes further into the concept and also shows why Hirrayami was in the doctor who game.

Now, the character...

Hirrayami is like, a jack of all trades. He was the star pupil of Tenchi Muyo's Washu Hakubi during his teenage years. Passing time he made many experiments on him self in pursuit of power and immortality. One of them was the concept of artificial super saiyan (created by Ranma 1/2 Z author Tony Chen and improved by me), making him a saiyan artificially made between other genetic enhancements on him self making him no longer human.
His real self is more like an essence astral life between dimensions that 'poses' a clone body created by him self on the world he resides in; which makes that when the body dies, his spirit lingers on untouched.
People could say he reached the rank of godhood but he prefers to refer himself as guardian angel.

He is not without sin how ever; even with his happy-go-lucky demeanor, inside is a turmoil of darkness and feelings of rage because of his dark past and shattered soul, mostly because of a lost true love millennia ago one that is trapped to seal off his mortal nemesis. Only in his training in martial arts manages him to maintain control over his emotions.

His combat prowess, well he is a martial artist; he studied under Happossai in the masou mutsabetsu kakuto ryuu or anythign goes martial arts as is known on the west and founder of his family style fo anything goes that bases on defense and counter. His natural innate talent is Mimicry, Hirrayami can mimic any and all techniques he sees that are not related by blood or family/genetic locked. (i.e. sample: He cannot mimic a byakugan or sharingan. But things like a kamehameha he can imitate and adapt into his style thanks to anything goes).
Think on something like Ifurita from El-Hazard and her ability to mimic and dublicate any skills she sees. She only can imitate basic learned skills but skills that are genetic or blood related she cannot duplicate.

Many people would say that Hirrayami is a 'gary-sue'; how ever I counter with the concept that Hirrayami has 15 years of creation, and canon in-story he is 32 thousand years old present; In that long of living he could had learned many things and have enough combat experience in him.

Chronicles of the world traveler story plans-
The plot and concept of episode one took me 2 years. Mostly because I had no idea how to start and what to do... and mostly i ended in author's block in the middle of working on the episode and didn't know what to do. So I let it on pause many times over until I finally managed to find a plot i can develop.

I have plans on making this game episodic. How many episodes? I have no idea. Since its a never ending story-line. There are plans to reformat into MV when I get that version of RPG maker (I want the game to be 3rd person battle system), right now i dont have the money to buy on steam since it slike 80 bucks current. Although a friend of mine (ChazDragoon's creator) has it so... miiiiiight join with him, maybe....

Anyways; In the future there will be more cross overs and improvements as I get used to rpg maker and learn more about the program.

I already am on plans for episode 2, when will it come out? No idea. I am taking time on this because I want it to be well made, (as you could see, episode one had less bugs than my other games because this one had time dedicated into it).
But it will come out. I already have the introduction going, just need the rest. I am lacking some tools, materials and resources which is the main cause of delays. That plus other games in planning.

Anyways thank you for taking time on reading this ranting and reviews are welcome if they are constructive and will help me on my growth.
Good day.

Played your demo and compliments for so good progress for beeing autistic.

This game needs a lot of polishing.
I found no serious bug - but:
  • earthquake uses MP but can only be used when having 20 EN

  • Potions don't heal 500 HP as descripted

  • your maps are so empty - fill it with goodies to find when examining boxes/statues/vases...

;)
killing dogs and angry housewives? How ironic!

I don't know where you are from but perhaps I could help with the grammar.
Perhaps you could send me the text of the intro because it's impossible for me to make screenshot so fast (I'm handycapped, too).
earthquake uses MP but can only be used when having 20 EN

odd, i thought that was fixed.

Potions don't heal 500 HP as descripted

hmm my fault. I made a change from specific points to percentage, I guess I forgot to change the description.

your maps are so empty - fill it with goodies to find when examining boxes/statues/vases...

I know that, I am not good at certain things. Like with dungeons. I try to design dungeon maps, but it seems i cant be that creative for most i try given that my train of thoughts is linear. That's why most of dungeon maps are so simple in all my games.
I can do puzzles, but just the field layout... it just doesn't come to me. it is my flaw.
Grammar, that is my fault. English is not my first language, and I don't work with a script so yeah there is bound to be spelling errors. I try to correct all i can but i my self as none English speaker, don't know certain natural sentences English speaking people know.

Overall, thank you for the review, this actually is helpful for me, mostly for when working with episode 2. Please keep it coming.
I just hope the story so far was fun. I didn't want it to be so difficult to people this time so they can enjoy the story. Would had preferred if battles was 3rd person view. Sadly know nothing of scripting.

P.S.
LoL, the angry house wives was mostly an Easter egg joke. Given on how Japanese housewives are on convenience stores, specially on sales. Its a battle field!!!
The dogs, well just needed something realistic for combat on modern times so rabid dogs would had been best choice.
I just finished it, and it was a quite the quaint little game. I enjoyed myself. In the future you may want to consider looking into using more scripts, since they add a lot more razzle dazzle to a game. Many of them are ready-made, so all you need to do is copy and paste them into your game's script editor. Just look around and play with the ones that catch your eye, Yanfly's scripts are especially helpful. Anyway, thanks for sharing!
Short demo. Looks like a typical RPG Maker game, but there are various design choices that make it kinda different from the standard game. For example: anime speak all over the place, liberal use of shadow tiles, characters de-leveling from 99 to 5 for plot reasons, random encounters in a peaceful town, etc. Speaking of the town, the mapping of the town is quite convincing in trying to be a modern city even though it uses only RTP. That's actually pretty neat. Shame I didnt really explore the town more

Those angry house wifes are the most dangerous enemies in the game by far, almost died to them. No other battle in the game was even half as threatening.
