Welcome! For those new to this project, Master of the Wind is a superhero game which takes place in the fantasy world of Solest. It is a story told in seven chapters, referred to as "arcs."

Cade Mistral and his best friend, a skeleton named "Bones," work as armor merchants in the beautiful seaside town of Port Arianna. Unbeknownst to the townsfolk, Cade also protects them as the spear-wielding wind mage known as Shroud. Bones joins him as Stoic, a mighty undead warrior who has lived through roughly one thousand years of history.

The story begins with our heroes keeping their fellow citizens safe from smaller threats like robbers or the occasional vampire. However, when larger and more organized foes begin to descend on their humble home, our heroes realize they are in for more than they bargained for. They will have to make new friends, confront deadly foes, and travel all over the world to deliver justice once and for all.

Welcome Back, Bros (and Gals)!

Solest Games is now live!

It took almost a year, but Solest Games is finally back. For those who weren’t around, the site was hacked last summer and we lost EVERYTHING! Years of articles…gone. It was depressing at the time, but it opened up the opportunity to give the site a fresh, modern look.

The site now has a sleek, more mobile friendly design. Most of the page content is the same, with the addition of a Books section that Volrath will be updating. You can still find the downloads for all our games on here.

We’re still making some final tweaks, but this is more or less the finished product. With the new site, I’ll be producing new content on a fairly regular basis. Our Mailchimp account was de-activated so if you were a subscriber you’ll have to sign up again if you want to receive updates. We have a few projects in the works so you’ll definitely want to do that!

If you have any feedback on the site or run into any issues, please leave a comment or contact us directly. Thanks for sticking it out with us!

Please dear god tell me by the holy mother of hell, what has 21-13-42-34 to do with 3-1-4-2. Bones is acting all smart guessing the last guys number being 34. I don't see the connection. Please... it's driving me nuts.

(I actually had to resort to writing every possible combination down, 24 in total, and try them out til I hit the right number)
It was just on my mind lately, I'm also trying to complete unfinished games over the summer.
Cool what made you decide to pick it up again? Looking forward to the review!
I started this game back in late 2012, then I got stuck near the very end of the game. I picked it up again and just finished it today. And I have to say it's one of my favorite RM games. It's been three years since this game gotten a review, I think I should write one too.

Fitting, since this would be my first review. And this is one of the first RM games I've played.

@Mngwa:
After you've read enough people's minds to gather all necessary clues, you need to read Cassie's mind again (she's the woman in the armour shop). You'll then be shown where Cole Marin is.
Hello

I am really stuck now. I am in the desert city and have to find Cole Marin. I talked with everyone, even solved the fairy quest, but still nothing happens. Anyone knows what to do? I would appreciate it.
Glad you liked it so much! We hope that our next Solest game, currently codenamed Project Kobold, will deliver much of that same experience but with a more developed battle system. Thanks for the kind words on MotW, glad people are still playing it and enjoying it.
Hey guys, just finished the game and I loved it. The writing, the world, and especially the characters; plus great puzzles, mini-games, and amazing level design. (The battle system not quite as much, but it was still solid.) I haven't spent 30 hours on an RPG Maker game since The Way, and I'm glad it was this one. Also the side-plots: Gabriella, Rana/Solik, etc. I like the way almost everything turned out; just finished the game 20 minutes ago and I already miss it.

I think it's a great game for a lot of reasons, but then there are little, more random things that just make a difference. Probably the big one is the fairies in this game and especially the sidequest are the greatest thing ever. Then the Blind Guardian in the soundtrack, etc etc. One other thing is the game gets continually better as it goes. The longer cutscenes that kick in during episode 5 are a bold move and one I really like.

I also like that the game is done with relatively little custom art for a game this size--like, you make great use of what you have (the portraits, custom battlers, etc) but never crippled yourself by trying to switch to all custom graphics or completely remaking the dbs, which seems like the perfect balance of ambition and restraint. I loved the look of the game, though I'm also a big fan of the XP RPT, and I was especially glad to see it used so well since there are so few good XP games on this site.

Anyway, yeah, thanks for making this, and I'm looking forward to your next games whenever they're out (especially the commercial one).
Ah! Thanks for the offer NeverSilent. I played right back to that point yesterday but so cool of you to offer--wish I would have seen this sooner. :)

Hey, icovoc, if you want I could send you a save file for that exact point in the game. I might be a bit underleveled, but everything else should be fine.
Hey guys, this is sort of a strange problem, but I ran into a gamebreaking glitch after beating Andau in the Cathedral. I saved my game in their apartment, then afterwards I'm not able to move. Like, the menu works, but Cade's sprite on the map is completely frozen in place. (Though I guess maybe this is just kharma for not alternating save-slots.)

Anyway, do you know if there are any save files available from around this point, or anything I could do to fix my file so it was playable again?
Great job guys! Thanks for such long game, and special thanks for completing it. It could be very disappointing if you didn't but you did and it is 1 point already :) .
Well, I'm sure you got plenty of critics already, but still I want to express some stuff.
Create long game is opportunity and responsibility altogether. You guys done well. Well, you got mistakes and some are already told you - about linearity and battle system and other stuff. So I want to tell where you were good - it was plot. And the good plot is also important part of good RPGs.You could create story with backstory. It is when you play and feel yourself really in world where something happened yesterday and continue to happen today and it has it's consequences. Your heroes move among different towns and it gives more "big world " feeling. Various characters and various events which don't stay still but evolve altogether that way audience do not expect. I really liked to play through all of this.
Very beautiful characters art. Special thanks for Finley and Baron. And the Sparrow skill to disappear is something. I hope to taste you other project (the one about detective is also good).
Thank you and best regards!

Oh, yes, please! I wonder what you guys have in store ...
Man I can't believe we're coming up on our 2nd anniversary (according to the completion date here). Since then we've worked on two major projects, X-Noir and Labyrinthine Dreams, but nothing in the Solest universe. We might have to return to it soon.
So I've encountered this weird gamebreaking bug where I was in the don's mansion collecting evidence(act 2) and I suddenly could not use the down key. and when I opened up the game from my last save file (which was unfortunately before fighting decan - I felt wrong supporting that shifty save fairy in the mansion considering what we were fighting for >.<) I could still not use that key. This actually happened to me about a year ago on a different laptop right at the beginning of act 2. any idea of what might be causing this?

*fixed this bug by restarting my computer, in case this happens to anyone else.*
Ah cool, I didn't think we'd get a Let's Play in that style since the game came out before those were a big deal. You've signed yourself up for quite a commitment here! I'm looking forward to watching it.
First off- this game is fantastic. I'm nowhere near finished with it, but I'm already having a blast. In fact...I've decided to make an LP of it. I wanted to get a few videos up before bothering you guys with a link- and now I do. I thoroughly look forward to completing this game. Most of my feedback would be in the videos, but I'm not expecting you guys to watch all those, so...I guess once I finish, I'll post my general impressions here. :)

Anyway, fantastic job! Keep up the good work. :D

well i would never be stupid enough to expect MOTV change now, after 6 years of development. what i am saying is, for your future works, since i know you guys can be great.

i never said puzzles was hard, even my clumpsy memory and snail reflexes could finish this mini games. what i would like is, to give people choice; if they want to play this mini games or not, and giving them variety of puzzles, not only memory tests.

i am grateful that your read my feedback i hope it was constructive

good luck with your future works :)
Thanks for the detailed feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the game at least somewhat, despite the various issues you raise.

At this point, it's highly unlikely anything about MotW will change. It's been done for a few years now and it's getting old (the earlier content in particular). Some design decisions are probably quite dated. But we learned a lot from the various critiques people had over the years and we intend to apply them to future work. It's true that MotW is a highly linear game with many mini-games and puzzles that can be challenging. This is not for everyone, but then again a lot of people liked the game very much for these very things that you are critical of. Can't please everyone, so you should make sure your work pleases you, and I'm pretty happy with how everything turned out in the end with MotW, even if I'd do some things differently if we were doing it now.
