Description

RPG Maker XP, the first RPG Maker product to be officially translated into English, is a tile-based point and click engine tailored towards creating traditional RPGs.

RPG Maker XP features a rich interface that includes all of the standard fare of RPG Maker 2000 (heros, equipment, spells, monsters, battles, etc...) plus a powerful Ruby-based scripting language known as the Ruby Game Scripting System (RGSS). This adds great flexibility and possibility for enhancement, as evidenced by the plethora of custom scripts available for the engine.

RPG Maker XP runs in larger 640x480 resolution with custom-sized pixel tiles and sprites using several different image file formats such as .PNG, .BMP and .JPEG, with a full color palette. The rendering is performed in software-mode only. The default battle system is a frontview system reminiscent of RPG Maker 2000 with static front-facing monsters but with visible avatars representing the hero party, however with RGSS different battle systems are possible to implement. The engine supports the MIDI, MP3, OGG and WAV file format for music and sound effects.

RPG Maker XP games can be packaged so that they can be played on any Windows machine without requiring the engine or RTP to be installed.

The program's EULA allows games to be sold commercially.

If you have need for a custom script but are unable to do it yourself, please make a request! Perhaps one of the scripters here will be able to help you out.

Before Making A Request:
1. Search for a script that might suit your needs here
2. Search for a script that might suit your needs elsewhere (try Google)
3. Ensure that this isn't something you can reasonably accomplish without a script (perhaps the same can be accomplished with events?)
4. Be clear in what you want and what you need.

Request Template:
Copy this code and paste it in a new post and fill out the blanks. Be as descriptive and detailed as possible. If appropriate, make a a mockup of what you want in an image, or list other games (commercial or otherwise) that implement the feature you want.
