New Screenshots

I may not like the graphics that VX Ace comes with, but I absolutely love what you can put in their place. I know from having seen them that you can makes games in RM2k3 that look just as good as games in VX Ace, but clearly for all of the options you don't get in VX Ace, it makes it much, much easier to make your games look really good. If you're following me, you'll notice that I've been putting up new screenshots and you'll also notice that I haven't been pulling the 2k3 screenshots down. That's so you can compare the old screenshots to the new.

I've obviously got a new animation of Moya flying through space. It's not that I couldn't have made the 2k3 animation look like the VX Ace animation. It's simply that it's easier to make the animation in VX Ace. Transparency in pictures is easier to deal with. In 2k3, I choose to pixel draw the Moya model because it was easier to deal with in animations. In VX Ace, using a photo of a model is much more practical. Now, the backdrop picture really is pointless. I did a pixel drawn space backdrop just because I loved the effects I could make and still do. Obviously, an actual NASA photo looks better, and though I'll still be creating space backgrounds, I'll likely be doing imagery against a real photo of an empty star field to make them more realistic.

For the main control room of Moya, I've got a new image also. There's a few things going on here. I obviously haven't made any DRDs yet, but the viewing window is back, and it is actually the same graphic from 2k3; I've just enlarged it, added some lights and made the window transparent so I can show a parallax background through it. Another thing I've done is redesign the consoles to make them look more functional. If you watch the show through all four seasons and the miniseries finale, you will note that not once do you ever get a good look at the control consoles on Moya. In a few scenes, you can catch a glimpse of of a yellowish oranges light and in pouring through episodes, in A Clockwork Nebari, I was finally able to get a look at the side of one and saw black paneling with knobs. I've represented that here, and lastly, if you look at the picture, you'll see I've included 8 direction walking.

Anyway. That is the latest and the more I work, the more material I will put up. I'm working towards making a playable demo.

Switching this to VX Ace

I think I'm going to redo everything. Either way, I'm moving over to VX Ace. I want to do a tactics style of gameplay and while I've learned to do it in 2K3, it's much easier in VX Ace. I'll put up replacement screenshots as soon I have them.
