Download Update

Thanks to some feedback and from watching the two let's plays, I've updated the download. It's not enough of a big deal to redownload it if you've already beaten it.

Changes Made:
* fixed some mapping errors
* lowered some encounter rates in the final dungeon
* fiddled a bit with the second last battle so hopefully it's less broken now
* Fixed some pass-ability issues.
* Added just two more loot points
* Adjusted the volume level of the town music

The second last battle had a lot of issues. :/ It's still nothing great, but hopefully stuff will actually HAPPEN now. (I don't know when it got that broken, my final test play I didn't see any issues)

Some specifics on what I changed. Warning for spoilers:
* Took out MP burn for Victor. He will now only have MP rage at full MP.
* Likewise, I removed MP rage from Fermat. He will now only have MP burnout when his MP gets to low
* Apparently at somepoint the enemy version of Victor lost all his skills :/ I've put them back in
* I've set enemy Fermat to HOPEFULLY only attack when his MP is low.
* I've also raised Fermat's ATK stat and Victor's SPD just before the battle. As those were hindering them A LOT when fighting against one another
* For player Fermat I swapped out Quick Caster for Beefcake, since that was an error. His SPD and MIND are at 999, so there was really no point in him having those.

If anyone who plays wouldn't mind answering a couple of questions I would be grateful! (also in a spoiler box because of spoilers) I'm just trying to see how obvious or not obvious things were.
1. Whose route did you play?
2. When did you realize that the character you picked was a demon?
3. When did you realize that the other character was also a demon?

Baring any MAJOR things coming up in the future, I probably won't be making anymore updates on this game. It's time to move onto bigger, better things. (It's time to join forces with Indrah, Rach, and Fomar and one-up Sunken Spire)

Announcement

Game Download is up!

After that ordeal last night, I'm happy to announce that the game is up!

I give another fair warning that this was meant to be something silly made in three days. Even if it ended up taking a week instead (surprise surprise), it's still a silly game. xD

Combat is the weakest contender. And I think the burn out towards the final dungeon is apparent, but the story is still what it should be and something that I think is charming and fun in its own right. :) I hope that it can be enjoyed.

We did a lot of play testing, but please let me know if anything was missed or overlooked.

I'm really nervous!!! hahaha

Enjoy :)

Some dumb things I'm aware of
* In the Dirt Zone Dungeon, they are talking about a key before they know why they are looking for a key. Intuition.
* Battles are a joke xD (at least this fact is lampshaded by the characters?)
* The final dungeon is really... a mess. Again, lampshaded by the characters in spots.
* Cindy's mechanics are totally broken to the point where I swear she does NOTHING anymore??

If you downloaded version 1.0 (fixed in version 1.01)
* Typo in Victor's character description. because I rock something awesome. (typo 5 seconds into the start of the game

Progress Report

It Broke Itself

Edit: Well, we've since discovered that this is actually an error with 2k3 itself. After wasting HOURS trying to go far enough back and carefully copy things - we opened a fresh project (again) and learned that even in a brand new project, if you reflect magic at any actor that isn't actor one, the game crashes with this error.

:) :) :) :) :) :)

End us.

I was kinda proud of the set up of the final battle, because it was something I invented in my head. Knocking that I physically CAN'T use it anymore has ticked me off so much that I'm just borking the battle, putting in the last needed puzzle stuff, and calling it done. :( I'm sorry the final battle is going to be as boring as every other battle.

This really sucks ;o; The game's story doesn't need to change though, and that's the part I like better anyway.

----This is old stuff from when I first posted this----

Well, the game was gonna be done tonight, then this ugly jerk-error reared its head:

Reflecting single target spells crashes the game :D The final two battles were both entirely focused around states that reflect magic. :D I hate the world. *cries*

I can only think the database file corrupted somehow. (because replacing it with an old one makes reflect work just fine)

Excuse us while Rach begins the annoying task of copying over the database information into an older version of the project with a program that only let's you have one file open at a time.

I am never using RPG2k3 again. This program hates me or something ;<

HERE'S A CUTE DRAWING WHILE WE CRY:

Game Design

More art and stuff!

Wake up and to my surprise, this silly little thing is somehow a buzzing game. heh Anyway, I wanted to share some of the art that's not really screenshot, image gallery material.

First, the culture shock for working with 2k3 was WOW WHY IS EVERYTHING SO SMALL. As a artist, that was a huge hindrance. To avoid the colour limit, I did the original portraits with a pixely brush, but then shrinking them turned into a nightmare. (it was okay when I thought I was shrinking them to 50% of the original size, but I soon realized no... I needed to go to 25%!! - everything fell apart)

Here's our heroes original busts at their original (and glorious) size.

Victor, the muscle-bound meathead of the party. Basically a puppy on steroids. He's adorable o3o~*

Fermat, the grumpy, socially-awkward mage. Such fabulous eyeshadow~ No one ever mentions his eyeshadow in game. I feel like that was an oversight of mine.

Fermat and Victor are the only two characters in game with busts, but honestly, they're the only two characters that really matter.

Ridiculously small image size (and quality) aside, the OTHER thing that smacked me hard in the face with 2k3 was that daunting moment of ... Oh shoot, I need those animated battlers for the default system. Cue Makio smashing her head into the tablet a lot. Pixel art is NOT my forte, but through the magic of frakenspriting, recolouring, and some hand drawn bits, I managed to make what I think are pretty cute and good representations of the characters :)

Just don't mind that some of their animations are a bit janky. ;o; (We haven't put up a battle screenshot yet, since battles are what we're doing today, but yeah!! I wanted to share their cute little sprites anyway)

There's a few other images in game that I'd love to share original qualities of, but they're all spoilers ;D

Hopefully the game will go up tonight!! *fingers crossed*
