Generic RM2k3 RTP Gaming Fun!

I always wanted to make that game based on everything I enjoyed as a kid. This is the end result.

Lead four heroes and their teams against the evil forces of Mephistocles, the Lord of Demons in this retro-RPG adventure. Toggle between the four heroes as you explore dungeons, ascend towers, spelunk caves, save villages and defeat the forces of evil! Reminiscent of classic RPGs such as Dragon Quest III and Final Fantasy V, Hero's Realm is a fun romp in old-school RPG nostalgia.

-22 character classes (12 base classes, 4 hero classes, 3 secret classes, 3 master classes)
-TONS of game content and sidequests
-Classic NES-era and SNES-era RPG gameplay
-Great music
-Multi-party switching system (like Kefka's Tower in FFVI!)
-Multi-party tactical battles (at least 5 of them!)
-Massive world map
-Fun

The story is split into 5 chapters, with each of the first four chapters focusing on a new hero, and the 5th chapter bringing them all together.

Chapter 1: Won't Somebody Please Think of the Children?
Chapter 2: There is Something Fishy Going on...
Chapter 3: Land of the Rising Son
Chapter 4: True Calling
Chapter 5: The War on Terror

So Ziegfried_McBacon bought me the new official RM2k3...

...do you know what that means?

It means that for the first time in forever I played this game! (I am not sure why you would assume anything more than that).

Seriously, though, I have dreamed of a day of making a commercial game and releasing it, just to have the experience of doing it, y'know? And this game has always been a candidate in my mind for converting into a commercial game. At least, it is my most successful one. But... ehhh... that kind of feels... not quite sketchy, but something like that. I mean, I released this full game years ago, and to go tweak it, get custom resources, and turn around and sell it...

And for custom resources? This game uses like 75% rips and unlicensed content (music, battlers, enemies, characters, etc...). That would be a monumental cost and effort, and I don't have any money to put into that.

So I will tell you what - I will take a look through the game again, play through the game again, compile the long list of outstanding bugs and balancing issues, and we'll see if I have the moxie to release an update v1.6. A commercial version of this game is not in the cards right now.

I have just played the game and i loved the use of "Old School RPG". The storyline about the game was really well done as was the music you used througout.

I love this game.
You need to install RM2k3 and it's RTP to play Hero's Realm.
Too bad you didn't use Brickroad's RTP trick.
What do you mean about Brickroad's RTP trick? You mean removing the need for RTP to be installed? Yeah, I won't be bothering to do that until I've finished the game.
chapters and bringing the characters together reminds me of suikoden.Ill play it when it is completed.
How do you start this game?
I get a message about not being able to run system2c?
What is going on?

Very good game. Reminds me of Final Fantasy III (NES) and Dragon Warrior 3.
Like it's supposed to be.
@dondorian noob: You need to install RM2k3 and it's RTP to play Hero's Realm.
@edchuy: not yet...

@everyone else: Thanks for the comments!
This is the first RPG Maker game I've ever tried and you've definitely left a good taste in my mouth. I enjoyed how you played off using characters and music from other games. It because a sort of side game for me to guess where songs came from, the best was Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!
Glad to be of service to you in your quest to play RM games. (My personal fave midi in Hero's Realm is The Price is Right theme song.)
Totally cute, man. Love what you did with the class system. I was so torn on what to make my party!
So many classes to choose from! Gah! Every time I go to make a party I'm stuck wondering what would be the best for me. And then when I get 'em all picked...I just want more! Bleh. Ha ha. I didn't post any comments here yet, did I? Wow. I can't believe it. But I DO remember posting somewhere, so maybe it was in the blog?

Oop. Sorry for the ramblings. Anywhoo, I hope that this is still under production, even if it's only a bit a day! Or every two days! It will eventually get done! I can't wait to see a finished version of this game! You've gotta do it, Kentona!
Love the game and its class system. Kentona, don't you think its about time to scrap the forum on your website and startover with it. 1/2 of it is screwed up, 9/20 of it is spam, and 1/20 of the posts are actual posts.
Ha! Yeah, too true. It was originally set up for some beta testers. I will scrap it eventually. However, the website is at the bottom of my TODO list for the game right now.
