Fair enough.

I know every site/forum in the existence of the web has its problems and shit, but coming here and seeing anti-administration and all these people arguing is just a very bad image.

As an outsider, censorship looks much worse than drama to me.
Magi got banned for a prank (one which I goddamn loved), and people got sent to the e-gulags for asking what the hell that was all about?

That's messed up, man. This is the sort of thing you only see on 98% of the internet.

Serious Mode Edit:

To anyone, bad administration is a hell of a lot worse that something's "image". Banning people for a silly prank and asking about said ban looks bad all around.
It's not like the censorship is stopping the drama anyway, there always seems to be some kind of drama in some kind of form here. I've been on bigger and smaller sites, sites with less enforced rules, sites with more enforced rules, sites full of professionals, sites full of the darkest reaches of cyberspace, and yet this is the only place I've been to with almost 24/7 drama. It's like some sort of deformed soap opera, I just don't understand it.
Why is everyone saying this place has so much drama? I don't see it; what was the last big 'drama' before this (which will also blow over)?

I think either people need to chill out or redefine their definition of 'drama'. At this point 'drama' is a word people like to throw around here with no real weight behind it whatsoever.

Yeah, exactly. RMN probably has the least drama of any site I frequent. It's pretty chill here, really.

You may regret asking that question.

And yes, this will all be over in two days time, but there will shortly be another drama from something else on as the chipset turns..

I want to see a place where the RMNers are together in the same places with the SHMUPs, and the Salts with the triple Rs. Aint' nobody wasting nobody here. Caaaaaaaaaan yooooooooou dig it!!?

No I really want to know. What was the last community crunching drama that unfolded? The natural course of personalities clashing and people disagreeing with each other doesn't count; that's called 'human interaction'.

Presumably, Feld, it was the thing where the staff changed like six times in four days? I can't say for sure because I wasn't here.

kentona revolution 4 life. i was really looking forward to chaosproductions being a moderator, too...

TBH, the site's drama is pretty tame. It just seems bigger because the community is insular and most users of the site do not, in fact, post frequently.

I am sure your opinion on this subject matter is extremely valuable.

oh wait...

As for the deleted posts, I wasn't here so I can't really say if any of them were particularly meaningful or insightful, but I am leaning towards 'no.'

I prefer not to delete posts myself, but I'm not really sure if there was a good solution beyond having legacy threads like the "what are you thinking right now" be locked.
I don't mind much about those 'deleted' posts specifically, but I really hate the deleting or editing (by the staff) of posts in a forum (unless is porn or something). Locking and dumping a thread shouldn't be an alternative under these circumstances either. There must be other, more sensible ways to deal with things. Gee, even letting a discussion dissipate in a page or two would be a better way to handle it imo... Anyway, I really hope this never happens again. xP
Wasn't there a warn system in place to prevent a scorched earth moderation policy?

It was ignored.
Scorched Earth? I'd much prefer an Iced Earth

Why do you people find it so difficult to follow the rules?!?

Sorry, must have missed that rule. (Although holb did say at one point he had no problem with this topic.)
