Alter A.I.L.A. Genesis takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. You play the role of a young man known as Leon, who seeks to survive in the harsh environment he is brought into.

Exploration is done mainly via a side-scrolling view. In certain areas, an exclamation mark will sometimes appear, indicating the presence of hostiles. Press Z when this happens to initiate battle, or wait to let it pass. Sometimes battle will be unavoidable. When walking, enemy encounters won't occur.

The battle system revolves mainly around each character's Abilities, which are a set of commands specific to that character. Abilities require AP and EX to use. AP is gained every time a character takes a turn. The default is 2. EX is gained every time a character uses an Ability. The default is 1. Note that this may change depending on the situation.

"Known Glitches"
Due to the limited functionality of the RPG Maker 2003 engine, there are various glitches and bugs which are unfortunately unfeasible or impossible to fix:
- Sometimes during an action, the battle data of a character will be temporarily overwritten with another character's, causing them to not perform as expected for that round.
- In certain cases, player actions can be interrupted by the enemy or other character's actions. To minimize the occurance of this, wait for current actions to finish before selecting an action with another character.
- Using items and guarding doesn't trigger the code to check for enemy deaths. You need to actually use an ability, or let the enemies take a turn.
- Although not a bug, Active Mode should be changed to Passive Mode in the in-game menu to prevent enemies from acting while you are taking an action.

"Hints and Tips for Boss Battles"
- Don't expect to just be able to spam regular attacks until you can use your Exceed ability. You won't win an attrition war with the enemy party.
- Always target the enemy's weakness if you can. If you want, think of this as a Shin Megami Tensei game. :P
- Make sure to keep your HP up. The vast majority of bosses have pretty powerful high EX costing abilities that'll wipe out your party if you're not expecting it.

- That said, keep in mind, the enemy is subject to the same rules as the party. In other words, they're also gaining AP and EX, and they also need it to use their more hard-hitting abilities. So if you can prevent them from using them while still retaining the ability to use yours, you'll be able to beat any boss.
- You can tell how much EX an enemy's ability uses by looking at the name of the ability. Similar to your character's abilities, it'll show up as the number of squares on the left side of the name.
- Of course, the above passes quickly so isn't that reliable of a method. As a general rule, you can expect that:
- Anything that uses an element other than Force likely costs at least 1 EX
- Anything that does multi-targetting likely costs at least 1 EX
- Anything that hits everyone hard probably costs 2 or more EX
- Anything that outright kills someone from full health, or makes you swear "Bullshit! That can't happen!" is likely an Exceed ability.
- Chances are it'll also be very flashy.
- Obviously, there's going to be some exceptions, but for the most part, this can be followed.

- Don't ignore Field Effects either. Bosses don't, and the Field Effects they use generally stack things in their favor. It's not just about dealing as much damage as quickly as you can. A lot of times, it's also about controlling the situation.
- Modes, Field Effects, and Boost ailments all stack. If you're creative, you may be able to create a situation where you can pretty much negate everything the boss throws at you, while tossing out Exceed abilities every turn. Bosses won't stand a chance.

MAP SAVE FREEZE: If you're changing things in this game in the editor and your save file freezes on the world map as a result, press F9, go to switch 112 and 113, and turn them both OFF. That should fix it.

The green tank found in the arena D:
Are you talking about that guy with the like... squared off gray head?
That Gweapon dude D:
Wow totally kicked my ass, wasn't expecting 2x in a row attack with missles and that surge canon

Then again my team isn't so good. Anyone know a good place to grind my underlevelled losers to at least reach 2k hp??
Beat the game, despite it's flaws it was really enjoyable. The mechanics were crafted nicely and well thought out, and most of the mechanical faults can be blamed on RPG maker.

I'd make comments on the ending but I can't really get spoiler tags to work properly. I'm not exactly sure why I've heard comments about the game being too brief; the length was just right. Everything was wrapped up quite nicely, I just wish the final boss music wasn't some low bitrate techno crap. The rest of the soundtrack varied from average to great, then suddenly the last battle starts, I move on the edge of my seat and...

BZZTT PARPAR TEOJPAG AOFOASDKJ D

Forgot to mention, in the final dungeon, when I was jumping down somewhere, I accidently missed the jump point, and found myself inside the wall right beside the landing spot or whatever. It occurred in Avalon 1.
I think I found another bug, though Im not sure. Those orbs in the final area are stupidly fast; thus they get to go twice as much as my party and they slow my ATB bar to a snail's pace.

And that rave music... :|

Edit 2 Final Boss Spoiler:

That final boss music... Seriously?

Right after the boss fight in the Central Area of the Rebel Base on Chapter 5, if I try to leave that area to the left, Jake will stop me. However, I got stuck and had to reset :\

I'll try to replicate it (but save AFTER I kill that damn boss), but it's a pretty game-breaking bug.

Have you tried...
going against the full powered Behemoth with that setup? I'm pretty curious as to how that team would work against it. Trying to beat the damn thing myself (without using anything "broken" ) but so far not much in the way of positive results.

Since I'm discussing more than the mere name of a post-game boss, I'll use spoiler tags.

Based on what I've seen, I don't think my team's average of 3700ish HP can stand up to the 6k damage every it does round. I tried it earlier and it appears that, currently, if I fail to keep it SPD Crushed and Erin Speed AND EX Boosted at all times, everything falls apart very quickly. I'd also have to slowly chip it apart with Violet as I'd be fortunate to get Buster Cannons off with Gray, considering all the time he spends either dead or tossing items. Erin must guard at all times that she isn't using Second Aid to revive the team. Basically, the way I see it the battle can be won, but Erin MUST ALWAYS get two turns for every one that the Behemoth gets in order to do it. There would be absolutely no room for error. There would be almost no way to successfully get Buster Cannon off considering how critical the buffs and debuffs are in this fight. I certainly wouldn't be breaking 50k damage with it without ATK boosting Gray, and I'm already having to upkeep one buff and debuff while guarding every single attack it does to begin with.

Hmmm... I just got another idea to try... I'll be back with the results in a sec. I think I might just have finally found a use for the syncs like Heart of Mysia... :D

Update: Oh well... Apparently he can only take 3000 damage a pop from a Toxication Field. I was gonna try and cheese him out via poison, but when I tested on the weakened version too it would only take 3000 damage as well. I know for a fact it has more that 30000 HP in that form, so the same is probably true of the normal version. I seem to be having terrible luck getting the speed crush to stick for more than a turn or two right now as well, so I'll go ahead and call this Behemoth 1, ARPerson 0 for now. Perhaps we will have a rematch in the future, when I have some more options available.

...
If it makes you feel any better, Behemoth scared the crap out of me earlier today and totally made me eat my previous words.
I made it to the laser and started with a hit for about 90k and thought "Wow, if that's like 2/3's of his healh, then this will be over in a minute! Maybe I should just straight up fight him?" I then hit it for 10k with Gray, another 20k from Violet using CRISIS and a couple of EX's, and then Gray let out the mother of all Buster Cannons for 55k. Do you know what it did after that? It whispered into my ear: "Thank you sir, may I please have another?" as it used Earthquake for the second time. It took probably another 50-60k damage after that (roughly 3 Violet EX's and 1 more from Gray for ~20k) before it finally went down! Also, for each EX that Violet used, she used Machine Gun once to charge up before hand... It deals 5000 damage with CRISIS... I'm pretty sure that the Behemoth has like 250k HP, easy based on that fight. That sounds like a quick fight, but it doesn't mention all of the turns spent healing/buffing and rezzing Violet from pretty much every time she got hit

100,000 dmg
Hmm, looks like the postgame won't give you much of a problem :P (Maybe I should've tested those random dmg syncs better..)

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Getting hits like that off virtually require me getting the planets to align. That setup is only 100% effective on things that are 50% weak to either Force or Burn. It also requires Violet to sit at nearly dead before she uses it, with both ATK & CRIT Boost applied and the enemy must be GRD Crushed. Also, you have to get lucky and hope that the random damage sync doesn't screw you with less than 100% damage. It IS easy to pull off lesser versions, though. If it's not weak to the element, that's +50% damage gone. If you're not nearly dead for Zero-System, that's upwards of another +100% gone. I'm not sure what CRIT Boost applies, but without ATK boost the potential damage is halved from the get go. You can definitely hit like a truck in your game, but it has been rather specific so far from what I've seen. Personally I think giving Violet/anyone else with a bajillion hits the CRISIS & Chaos Mode & EX Facilitator is way more broken. Free 10k+ damage every two turns irregardless of enemy defenses? I'll gladly take it.

That battle in the spoiler tags was actually pretty easy, got it on my second try. Spear is good, but with it; you have to rely on healing items. After that, just use your ex points on sniper for ap crush (and reapply when necessary). That will essentially lock him into using his normal attack.

Im up to Avalon 1, and I can tell already that Im going to hate this place.
100,000 dmg

Whoa. o_O;

Well, the last couple of REALLY late postgame bosses could survive at least one shot of that. Aila would definitely die.

Hmm, looks like the postgame won't give you much of a problem :P (Maybe I should've tested those random dmg syncs better..)

What are good areas for low-level grinding? And how long should I stay for each area?

Well what I did was just go thru the game again re-fighting bosses. Dunno any specific areas that are particularly good..

In other news, I'm stuck on Avalon 1.

Make your way to the top of the level, and change the bridges so that they're connecting the lower left and lower right paths. Then work your way down to the lower left.

Wow, Violet is capable of dealing that much damage? o_o

In other news, I'm stuck on Avalon 1. Teleporter/switch puzzles are very disorienting, and while I think I have the switches figured out, I can't figure out how to progress. (I did manage to get the famous Chaos mode though, so I guess that's something) Also, that trap where you're forced to exit and reenter the area is EVIL. x_x

Just want to know if there's any important treasure there, also, other than the Chaos mode. I don't want to miss out on something epic like G.U.A.R.D.I.A.N., which I suspect I'll be finding soon...
When I was running through the arena upon immediately getting access to it that was the first boss that actually managed to stop me.

That's round 85 of 100, btw. Kind of sad!

I forgot most of the areas near the beginning of the game. Trying to get level up the bonus characters since most of them have a hard time beating their shadows at Level 1 ( with the exception of Tinderbot )
Woo!!! I beat the game finally! This was a great game Mr.Neok. Now I got like 30+ videos to make, so once I get those finished and uploaded, I'll make my review of the game.

A new problem arises!

Hmmm... this should be basically what you need to do.

If I remember correctly, you need to head right and drop down, trigger the green teleporter switch to make it red, and then run all the way left to get to the first red teleporter. Take each red teleporter while heading to your right and jumping that way if you can't find one on that level. Eventually you should see a new red switch, hit it to activate the orange teleporters. Drop to the bottom and the orange ones should take you straight up to the exit pretty quickly. Also, if my memory serves correctly this is the place that has Chaos Mode. It's should be rather hard to miss if I'm right, and is very strong.

As for an amusing story regarding that fight from before you spoke of...

So I, too, was walked into that fight and thought things wouldn't be so bad. Then he started spamming Ether Shot and always sticking the HP Crush from Aerial Drop and made my life miserable. Cue round two when I'm actually prepared, I start off by trying to EX Crush him to curb the spamming of Ether Shot. What does he do? Ether Shot, Ether Shot, Aerial Drop. All after I finally stuck EX Crush and all in a row. Although I did finally win that time, he was still quite a jerk about it.

I just defeated him. I had HP faciliator, EX-skeleton suit, SPD booster, BARRAGE (this time), 2 atom bombs. and I finally killed him off ...faster than I thought. I just made sure she always has full hp, with 20 agi+speed booster it seems that AP crushing him you can have 3 turns in a row? *dies*

Apparently, all I had to do was change her agi to 20 for maximum effect...

A new problem arises!

Please help me with Avalon 2 ;a;
I can't find the orange switch ahaha I feel like I'm going in circles XD
I had the same problem Ness, however

My Erin was a little stronger. You need some good armor and have a couple powerful bombs like destruction zone. I equipped her with S.P.E.A.R., Vice and HP Facilitator, Used attack, speed, and defense boosters, and Celebrate Field Effect. I attacked to build up EX, then used First Aid when necessary. When he started pulling out Blast Revolver, then I used my Destruction Zones to knock off the last bit of HP he had.
