Version 1.8 (updated release)

A new release version has been created to correct a number of unresolved aspects in 1.7. This will be uploaded to RMN by tonight. If you desire to retain your save file between versions simply copy and paste your save from the old root folder into the new. I highly recommend updating to this version when you have the chance as several key issues have been cured.

Final Middens Trailer

What began as a conversation between a friend and I has finally resolved itself tangibly. Middens has undergone many transformations during that time. Once titled ‘We Three Kings’ the ancestor concept unfolded like a cultural satire focused on a rogue soul on its pilgrimage back to the living as working class mutinies streaked the afterlife.

Although the end iteration bears little relation to this and future predecessors, it certainly carries with it the DNA of its many antecedents. Each transformation was swallowed up by its successor making Middens a sort of ‘dead pool’ refinement of multiple streams of thought.

There is no correct way to play Middens, and it unfolds according to your play style. It is not even necessary that the game’s goals be met, or that its items be collected or creatures be defeated. If preferred a player can simply turn Middens on and peacefully explore its audio visual elements without ever engaging in its strategic gameplay or story.

Many who play Middens will experience it completely differently as the game was built circularly and the order in which creatures or environments are encountered will totally depend on the player’s impetus. It is not even necessary to destroy creatures to grow stronger as a pacifist means of leveling has been provided.

"Everyone needs a release once in awhile"

"It relieves stress"

"Now, it is my vocative pleasure to announce Middens
will
be released on..."

"The twenty first of September, 2012...or in other
terms: 9/21"

"Built in a style encouraging of open exploration
Middens stations players in an interminable
wasteland jointing multiple dimensional plains. "

"Just like an anatomical joint connecting adjacent bone
fragments this zone is flexible, capable of stretching
or contracting. "

" Therefore the physical laws governing this plain are
comparatively abstract from other realities."

" Inhabiting this zone's wastes are a multitude of
entities ranging from lost wayfarers to
excommunicated deities."

"Most of all though, the zone is home to the many
species of celestial worm that feed on imperceptible
threads that rope the parrelleling worlds."

etc etc etc

Progress Report

Middens Progress Report

At this juncture the game has been vividly manifested and is in the editing process, though development on Middens will be extended into August to accentuate important facets and features. The first release of the game will shortly follow subsequent to proof testing. In the meantime here is a general litany of some of what the game has to offer:

-Over one hundred hand-crafted creature portraits.

-More than twenty hand painted collectible curios.

-Dialogue salvaged from the last words of executed inmates. ;p

-Seventy plus original musical tracks.

-A unique open ended world and storyline synthesized from my literary works.

-Wormies

-Custom environments and sprites.

In other news; beginning last month I started organizing resources for two additional projects. The foremost of these is an interactive adaptation of the ‘Tibetan Book of the Dead’. Further details on that project will be released alongside Middens in August.
