You feel so much better once you do. I only drink soda very occasionally, and only if it uses actual real sugar and not chemicals someone found in a meteorite.
I don't drink soda at all, just water, milk, alcohol & juice if I feel like something sweeter. Honestly after the first few weeks you don't really think about it anymore, you'll feel better depending on how much you were having. Just remember if you're ordering out as well you can have water instead of coke or whatever with your meal.
Coincidentally, I'm trying to quit soda now myself. I've got myself down to one can a day. Hopefully early next month, I'll be able to stop altogether.
Sorry, but I can't freakin' live without having a Pepsi, especially when mixed with some good Bicardi rum.
I typically have it once a day, though.

author=pianotmDiet soda is so damn nasty. I don't even understand how people drink it.
It's poison. Truly, soda is poison and diet soda is even worse.

I actually had to quit soda for this reason. Mix was fucking killing me. Not only was it preventing me from getting a good buzz (by making me sick), it was just loading on the pounds.
Now I'm all about the straight liquor.
I’m super-super lame; I only drink water and that’s it. Yep.
But I used to drink soda/pop all the time back around 10 years or so ago. Yeah, I used to drink, like, 4-6 cans of soda/pop every single day. I stopped drinking it pretty much for the same reason as everybody else: to lose weight and to get into shape. It was hard not drinking it for the first month. But after I found a nice suitable replacement for it in favoured soya milk and juice, I eventually stopped missing it. And slowly, over time, I cut out the juice and the favoured soya milk and just stuck to plain, old regular water.
So, yeah, just find something else to replace it and slowly go from there. It’s a process, but it’s a process to change your life and make yourself feel – and look – tremendously better. :)

i compulsively drink pop when i'm stressed out or sad, and while i'm still young enough for it not to make me gain weight, i'm afraid i won't be able to get out the habit
