STATUS

My Google account just got deleted by the Square Enix ninjas who copyright struck my entire channel despite me following their TOS. At least this is a good excuse to switch my main email off of the one that uses my deadname.

Got three copyright strikes within just 2 days, all from Square Enix. If you get three your YouTube is terminated and since your YouTube is your Google account your Google account which is also linked to Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Blogger, etc is also deleted. The rule on YouTube is that if you get 3 copyright strikes within 40 days your account is permanently deleted and all your content is forever gone and you can no longer use the website or any google service with that account. Companies and even individuals can exploit this to smite people they don't like from the internet by issuing false copyright strikes and getting people's channels removed. That's why most people (aka professional YouTubers) have an MCN (multi channel network) to deal with that sort of thing and get false strikes resolved in exchange for a slice of your revenue. I'm not part of an MCN. Heck, I'm not even monetized as I only had 250 subs before my termination, and you need at least 1000 subs to get monetized.
Well that's just outrageous :\ Good thing I don't use my youtube for anything other than shitposting.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

If your YouTube channel was terminated for copyright claims, there are a few steps you can take to try to recover it:

  • Review the Copyright Claims: Firstly, you should review the copyright claims that led to the termination of your channel. Make sure you understand which videos were flagged and what parts of those videos were flagged for copyright infringement. This will help you understand what you need to address to get your channel reinstated.
  • File a Counter Notification: If you believe that the copyright claims are invalid or that you have the right to use the copyrighted material in your videos, you can file a counter notification. This is a legal document that you can submit to YouTube to dispute the copyright claims.

  • Contact the Copyright Owner: If you have the contact information for the copyright owner, you can try reaching out to them directly to resolve the issue. Sometimes, copyright owners will agree to retract their claims if they realize that they were mistaken or if you make changes to your videos to comply with their requirements.

  • Appeal to YouTube: If your counter notification is rejected or if you are unable to resolve the issue with the copyright owner, you can submit an appeal to YouTube. This is a request to have your channel reinstated, and you will need to provide evidence that the copyright claims were invalid or that you have the right to use the copyrighted material in your videos.

It's important to note that the process of recovering a terminated YouTube channel can be lengthy and complicated, and there is no guarantee that you will be successful. However, if you believe that you have a valid case and are willing to put in the effort, it's worth giving it a try.

I know about that, but I don't want to get into a legal case with Square Enix. Legally, I did use their copyrighted content even though what I did was okay as stated by their TOS. But that won't hold up legally, as taking down my channel for copyright infringement is legally valid even if I followed their TOS. However, while it may be legally valid what they did, but certainly isn't morally okay to strike down a channel who's only making your content more accessible with no profit on their end just to sell more overpriced CDs that they aren't even making any money off of for non-japanese customers who have to buy second hand on eBay for x4 the price or from import websites that usually charge a hefty premium. Plus the CDs aren't even in English with English names so you'll have to translate the track titles yourself or pain-stakenly go through all 450+ mp3s to change the names to their official English listings. It's just scummy, plain and simple, even if it's 100% legal. What isn't legal is them taking down my RPG Maker videos, which uses music that I 100% own the license to (RPG Maker MV OST) just because I put Square Enix in the tabs since the songs were clearly inspired by SE songs and I could get more views to grow my channel. THAT is a false copyright strike, the other ones are technically legal for them to do even if it's incredibly scummy for them to do so. I tried contacting them but they ended up just striking more of my videos and giving me an additional strike every time I mentioned them. Really the only way to restore your account is to have a large enough following on Twitter to make a fuss and get big YouTubers to talk about you and get your channel renewed. In any case the copyright system on YouTube is completely broken and strongly in big corpos favor, and instead of fixing it YouTube would rather remove dislikes and add in NFTs.
