I, for one, welcome our new Overlady. Hail Queen Pom! Let's make her RMN's mascot! After all, this is the only place she can be found.

CloseSerious talk, though. I depleted her buzz until she was on the last spot of the buzz list. That was 7 hours ago. She is back to the second position of the front page (and hell, she might be first by the time I finish typing this up!)
I also did an hourly watch because I was curious about the download/view patterns. This is what I found:
- the gamepage averages about 42 views an hour.
- downloads average about 6 downloads an hour.
Of course, this was only over 7 hours of watching.
She went from 1574119 views at 5:09pm to 1574415 at 12:29am.
She also jumped from 179964 downloads at 5:09pm to 179991 downloads at 12:29am
That's 45 downloads and 269 views in 7 hours... after her buzz had depleted her to the last on the list.
Granted, she had gotten two posts today, so subs viewing the page might account for the views (though there's only 105 subs - even if that were checking those two comments, that still leaves 80 or so views unaccounted for, and also one would think that subs had already played the game and thus did not need or want to redownload it).
Frankly, she ain't going anywhere, so we might as well embrace her as a fixture of the site.

I've never played the game, but I'm guessing that there's a bad ending where Pom ends up in puppy hell and gets no wifii (opposite of the good ending). It's just a theory, but it would be a pretty morbid turn if it's true.

It’s just simply amazing how long Pom’s been up there for with only disappearing off the buzzing list every once and a while or so, even after all this time. It truly is an amazing feet, and I’m not sure if we’ll ever see anything like this again unless PewDiePie, or someone else that’s of equal value, decides to Let’s Play another RPG Maker game that manages to surpass Pom in scope (which there are a lot of them out them).
As for the whole mascot thingy – I’d be down for that.
(Although Kentona will always be the king of kings.)

Yeah. I hope people weren't too mean to them. It'd be nice to see what sort of things they could make these days.
So am I. She was a very promising developer and it would have been great to get to know her better and see how she grew. :<
If nothing else, I wish her the very best in the world in this vast space of internet and eternity :)

She's active elsewhere but isn't making games anymore as far as I know. :(
I think she still is making her second game though from the looks of her tumblr blogs, just at a very slow rate.

Me-Patra herself was actually surprised of the game's success, I don't think negative feedback discouraged her from coming back here.
I think she's generally more active at Tumblr, though I'd like to see her be more active here as well.

i feel like being part of the community is understanding what other people produce and what attracts visitors to the site. it's short, it's cute, and like it or not it's part of RMN.

Honestly, it isn't as bad a game as people make it out to be. It has a lot of meme references and silly stuff thrown in, and you can tell that it is a game more about having fun and making something silly that you like, than mak srs stori. Which is fine! Just go in expecting silly funny stuff and you'll enjoy it well enough. It's cute, it's silly and it doesn't take itself seriously - there's a reason a lot of people enjoyed it enough to download it after watching someone else play.
Frankly, it's here to stay and as the most downloaded game on the site I think we should embrace it whole-heartedly. Is it the best game on the site? No. But it's definitely the most recognisable and well-known.
Besides, like I said elsewhere, on a site where games like ARE PEE GEE MAKUR and Zephyrus: The Winter Mage and other troll/stupid/funny/weird games are accepted, why can't Pom be too? She's here to stay. Might as well get used to her being queen.

While that's true, it's not like Pom is really "unique" in that regard. There were plenty of games with a similar tone and style to Pom on this site.
The real difference, imo, is that Pom marketed itself better. While a lot of us don't bother to talk about our games much outside of the community, or maybe just have a niche following on Twitter, Pom was publicized on a widely-used, popular web log before coming to RMN. Said blog is also where the developer is most active and probably more well-known. Then, the game got LP'd by one of youtube's most popular tycoons, so word of the game spread out even further.
Honestly, Pom's overwhelming presence on RMN probably comes from not being hosted on any other download portal if anything. RMN is almost completely irrelevant to Pom's existence in that regard.
