STATUS

Honestly, the depletion happens pretty fast - and there's plenty of spaces in that section for a game or three to be added there without fuss. I mean, there's 12 spots and buzz comes and goes so quickly, it usually changes a lot. There are currently 5 new games there, 6 that have been there often because they see regular updates, and Pom.

Yes, I depleted her yesterday by -20,000 buzz and she's back already. She's just that demanding of our attention. All hail the queen. XD

Hell, the fact that she is back so fast just goes to show that she's never gonna give buzz up or let buzz down, run around or desert buzz! Honestly, I don't mind too much seeing her there. She only takes up one spot and it's not often on the first row, oddly enough. (And frankly, I think it's nice that a piece of Me-Patra is still with us... haunting us over the failure to protect a promising newbie from all that hate. Kinda fitting, I feel.)

That said, not sure if it's possible to have something like that added, and I can see the shitstorm already brewing from people on the site who have games that have a lot of downloads who don't want to lose their front page spot if they put something new out.

Tell you what, I'll deplete Pom right now and you can see how long it takes for it to buzz right back on the front page. It just tends to get a lot of visits and downloads.

Jesus. Not even 24 hours have passed and it's already into #12 spot as I type this.


Maybe the Buzzing category needs a hard upper limit like Download Count. Once your game is over 50,000 downloads, you honestly don't need the Buzzing advertisement anymore.
I'm not deliberately hating on Pom or anything. I just don't want to see Buzzing gradually become a billboard for tumblr crazes.

@Libby:Seriously, quit with the "people only hate it because it's popular" bullshit. It's a boringly obvious attempt at discrediting the opinion of everyone who legitimately dislikes that game. Unless you have some sort of proof that people only hate it because it's popular, of course.

I pointed out that it wasn't 'popularity' but the fact that it became popular due to outside forces and spent a lot of time 'in people's faces' as a reason why a lot of people don't like it and hate on it. As has been said by others, having an opinion of 'I don't like this' is fine, but bringing it up all the time and shitting over it is more hating on it than just not liking a thing.

There's a lot of games on the site I'm sure you don't like, but you don't bring them up all the goddamn time and make tongue-in-cheek comments about them, 'jokingly' poking fun and hating on them (lol let's give it a memorial as Worst game on the site lol - that's hate, not simple 'oh I didn't like this game') so maybe quit bringing it up as 'the worst thing ever' and poking fun at it all the damn time and people might not think your reasons for 'not liking' has more to do with hating it and jealousy than just not liking it in general.

If you don't want to get lumped into that kind of subset, maybe stop acting like one of 'em.

Well for SAO, the only part I truly enjoyed was the first arc. After that, it just becomes boring for me (yeah, with the harem and all). Still, SAO does have its merits and isn't as bad as, say, Mars Of Destruction and Pupa. Yeah, those two are truly bad.

And for Log Horizon, the 2nd season was ok, but I just don't find it as enjoyable as the 1st season (not that I hate it. I just find the 2nd season boring. Watched the first 7 episodes of the 2nd season before putting it aside). I also think people didn't enjoy the 2nd season as much as the 1st because of the change of animation studios and that there is a noticeable dip in animation quality between the 1st and the 2nd seasons.

also if it makes you feel better sooz, my gam mak partner-in-crimes-against-vidya karasumang's favorite game is phantasy star iv and i think this shows in a lot of his narrative design and pacing (granted he only has one finished game on here but w/e, WE'RE WORKING). it's a shame psiv doesn't have shit like a HELP WINDOW and that it was on a weird console that wasn't a playstation, which probably didn't help it. you can't really blame FF for being more user-friendly (OUTSIDE OF SUPER WEAPOSN and shit yes but that didn't start until ff7 in earnest guide-dang-it-ness, although ff5/6 had whiffs of it) and available on the most popular console of each generation.

Obviously you don't know about the anime world.

One Punch Man, for instance, has its share of haters despite it being popular. There are people nitpicking it to death and giving it a low score because of that. It's the same for Sword Art Online.

To be fair, Sword Art Online is a shitty anime. Very flashy, yes, but shallow and empty of any real substance. It's basically the Twilight of the anime world, with cardboard cut-out characters and romantic triangles just for the sake of 'conflict/drama' that mean nothing because we all know who he was going to end up with the moment she was first shown on screen. (Hint - big boobs and interaction in the first episode)

Animation is pretty decent, and the concept is great (though it's been done a lot better in other anime like .//Hack and Log Horizon) but otherwise, they just time-skipped all the interesting parts to make way for Kirito and his harem of waifus. They took promising characters like Asuna and just made them into fanservice bait (like taking away all her power and ability and making her a damsel in distress... complete with tentacle hentai and rapey scenes). It's a pity - the first two episodes had a lot of promise, but it just shat all over itself.

I enjoyed it when I first watched it, but having watched a lot better anime since then, I can't revisit without seeing all the flaws it has - there's just so damn many. And that's not because it's popular. It's just bad.



As for Pom gets Wifi. It's decent. It was deliberately made to make fun of the internet-only character, which is why Pom is a selfish, jerkish little twat - and treated as such. She's an anti-hero who people do not like because of what she is - shallow, small-minded, selfish and a bitch. She talks like a bad chatroom and spits memes and references all over the place because that is what she is - a walking social media-bred person. If she were human people would hate on her character a lot more and see her as she is supposed to be - a complete bitch - but making her a dog was a good design choice because people don't take her as seriously (even while they do take other characters like Shibe and the rest of the crew a bit more serious). She's a walking, talking ode to all that makes the internet a shitty but interesting and crazy place, and you don't just write a character like that by accident. She's not supposed to be a likeable character.

Frankly, the game is a lot more interesting than I thought, and I'll go over it a bit more after I finish the rest of the game, but seriously, it's a really well-designed game and it did not deserve the hate and backlash that it has received, just because it's been on the front page forever. If you want to blame someone for that, blame pewdiepie and his fanbase, but blaming the creator and her game just because it's always there due to popularity is pathetic.

Me-Patra hasn't been back on this site since 2014. She quit just because fucktards couldn't get over the fact that the first game she ever made was very well received by an outside audience, which drove it to be in everyone's view (which it should have been, anyway, because it's not a horrible game and is quite cute). She was just a cool creator who wanted to share her first game with a site of fellow game makers and got completely shat apon and had her game ripped to shreds and made fun of just because someone made it popular somewhere else. Her last post is a testament to all of this - where she asks very politely for it to be removed from the misaos because of it 'not being worthy' enough. Fuck that. Fuck all of that!

Pom gets Wifi never got a chance to shine by itself on this site - which it very likely would have done because we're all idiots who like a good meme-fest and cute dogs and silliness. But because it got famous somewhere else, and thus got boosted to high-hell into our vision by someone else's actions, it was never given that chance. It's stupid and asinine. If a game like ARR PEE GEE MAKUUUUR can be received with open arms, then so can Pom.

I'd play, but it just doesn't appeal to me.

By the way, I just checked the buzzing games list, and since when was Pom bumped down all the way to page 4?? EDIT: Pom is now on page 3.

And whatever happened to Dreaming Mary?? I can't find it anywhere in the first 10 pages of the Buzzing Games list.

EDIT: Oh, by the way again, this status has persuaded me to download this game, but whether I will find the time to play this, only time will tell.
