Regrets and Desires

*peeks head in to check no-one is around, then sneaks in*

Wow... it feels almost alien for me to sit down and write another blog (No. 198 as of writing). Not to mention the last blog for this game was written more than two years ago. And because Icebound is still pending, I'll probably just write the blog here.

So you'd probably be asking me why I'm writing another piece for a game that was completed in November 2014?

Well, thing is... The commercial evil is calling out to me. Like most hobbyists, I do dream about making a full-time living out of doing something I love so I can quit my dreary, soul-sucking 8-5 job.

It can seriously stifle the creative spirit and probably one of the reasons why my game-dev passion just vanished a few years ago. But now, having reached the ripe old age of 30 and forever leaving my twenties behind, I figured that:

1) I can't take life too seriously (most of my games have been pretty serious)
2) Let go of past grudges and
3) It is about high-time I decided to make the life I want to live and not be slave to a dreary job where getting a double bonus at the end of the year makes it bearable (it isn't).

I've also decided to buck-up on my art skills so that when I do go commercial one day, I can at least save myself a few hundred bucks by not hiring an artist. zero-project's (my music-muse) music is free for all commercial work, so that's one less problem to worry about.

Hello Laine, my old friend.

I'm also feeling a bit overwhelmed at trying to familiarise myself with MV. The engine has enormous potential, but all these plug-ins... Yanfly is seriously on a roll. To someone who has been using VX since late 2010-early 2011, to me it feels like the equivalent of going from paddling around in a baby pool, to diving off the 10-metre springboard. But I know it will pay off in the long-term. But I'll probably end up making a few short games in MV before taking this huge step.

It's exciting, but also terrifying at the same time. I need to let go of my innermost fears and just release all that pent-up creative energy. What is my innermost fears, you ask?

Well...

It is the fear of failure. Also, the fear of letting down people who expect great things from you, who expect you to be at the top of your game no matter what. But worst of all, for me at least, is when someone (whether in real life or on the internet) expresses immense disappointment in you. That... has always struck me hard and always sits like a lead balloon in my chest.

As to what happened about a year-and a half ago...

I regret it, and bitterly. I lost a few good friends that day, and I still it to this day. Every time I thought about RMN during my hiatus, that was the first incident I thought of. But I guess I'll have to learn to live with it.

So, here's to a better and more productive 2018! No more fears, no more past regrets, and no more looking back.

This is Luchi, who is now officially back from the dead, signing out.
Blog No. 198 written.

Also, the blog title is totally not a reference to an episode in Granblue.

So, this is my second attempt playing this game, and like when I was playing vol I, I couldn't enter the bar again (after 30 mins of playing, first time trying to enter the bar after starting a new game)........

Things I did before trying to enter the bar: finished waterway, went to the death city to the west of initial world map. You really need to fix this annoying bug if you want to perfect your game (has been there since vol I).

I ofc can just restart the entire game and avoid all mentioned above, but I'm really afraid of going further through the game, knowing that there're still errors like this with your "switches" inside the game.

I suppose first releases are never perfect. Maybe in a week or two I'll zip all the files needed to fix all these bugs. And the game as a whole never will be perfect, even with all bug fixes. Because RM game ever released has been. But I'm not aiming for a perfect game. Never will.

But I was unaware of the one you mentioned now, so thanks for the heads up. There's probably a lot more, so yeah...

Drop that into the Data folder to get rid of that 'bug'.

http://rpgmaker.net/users/yuna21/locker/Map081.rvdataThere you go. Replace that map and the scene will commence. =)

Nope, that didn't fix it; Still giving me the, "I don't think I should enter since I still have other job" Maybe I've wrecked the save... The bar was the last place I was trying to enter after checking all places+speaking to all people in the initial world map and the town.

Small Complain:
I don't really know the limitation of RPGmaker related to stat changes of weapon/armor when you are choosing something from the weapon/armor shop, is that defense change? Anyway, the Mag/Spi is still not listed in the "Equip" tab, and it's quite annoying that I have to find out the Mag/Spi change from the Status tab.

Thx anyway..
I love how all the latest bugs that are being found thus far are from the first volume of the game but when I played it originally a few months ago everything was just peachy keen. (Well…besides what yuney already knows.)

Lol, three days later and it needs a freakin’ patch already.

Yuney, you’re supposed to bang your head on the keyboard, hug every single corner and wall, press the enter key a million times everywhere you go, and don’t use a common event command for character portraits in cutscenes if it doesn’t actually get rid of every single picture.

But oh well, mistakes are bound to happen for something as grandiose as this.
I know, right. I am only one person, after all. Can't remember every single myriad detail of stuff that goes wrong. ;_; But I will try to be as prompt as possible to iron/spray those bugs.

*bangs head on desk*

And this is why I never hype my games. XD
Added a page for important bug fixes. If you encounter anything odd or game crashing, please report it there for easy access for everyone. =)

He was being sarcastic. Take it easy.
No wasnt being sarcastic at all. That implies something negative and that was far from my intent. You were so happy about the game that I was laughing. Its good to see so many people liking this game. It was a joke and maybe Dodo you are simply too young to understand the kidding. Like WC said....lighten up, buddy!

Holy stale tostitos – you’re even getting some spam posts now on your gamepage, yuney! Now you know that you’re playing with the big boys now when you’re suddenly getting advertisements for Chinese cone crunchers and a free popsicle stick for a trade in of another popsicle stick.

Anyways, I guess the good news in all this is that there hasn’t been any more additional bugs reported in the last couple of days since you released that patch, so maybe they’re all but squashed now? Anyways, we’ll keep an eye out and let you know if we find anymore.
^ XD. Now I just have to wait for the haters to come in. Better brace myself for 'em.

Regarding bugs so far, there was one tiny one at Gorain Port ( after you've defeated the bandits and go and speak to the elder again, the scene will loop, but it can be avoided ) but apart from the real early game ones, none so far. But the players have to DL that patch. Its only 6mb, after all.
I doubt youll have any of those. I played the game before but for some reason fighting those flames wasnt fun. I am tempted from reading all the kudos, to try it again especially with all the things youve done.
It is a beautiful game and well put together.
So dl the game and the patch and remove one file and add the patch right? I am not at all that bright.
i don't know u and i didn't enter ur brain .. how would i know what u mean from just few words .. u say if u didn't like the game .. i didn't have time to think it over .. anyway it's okay
@Roy: Just replace the Data folder in the game with the one included in the patch. =)
Thanks Dodo....just a misunderstanding, brother.
Yuna thats what I thought and did. But everytime I moved I got different boxes telling me something about an audio file was missing. I will dl everything again today. When I dl the game i looked in the folder and took out the one that said DATA. Then I dl the patch and stuck it in the folder. I willdo the same today and see what happens. Thanks for responding Yuna!
How fo you get this skill points? Only for leveling up or there is a wind to grind it?
