Regrets and Desires

*peeks head in to check no-one is around, then sneaks in*

Wow... it feels almost alien for me to sit down and write another blog (No. 198 as of writing). Not to mention the last blog for this game was written more than two years ago. And because Icebound is still pending, I'll probably just write the blog here.

So you'd probably be asking me why I'm writing another piece for a game that was completed in November 2014?

Well, thing is... The commercial evil is calling out to me. Like most hobbyists, I do dream about making a full-time living out of doing something I love so I can quit my dreary, soul-sucking 8-5 job.

It can seriously stifle the creative spirit and probably one of the reasons why my game-dev passion just vanished a few years ago. But now, having reached the ripe old age of 30 and forever leaving my twenties behind, I figured that:

1) I can't take life too seriously (most of my games have been pretty serious)
2) Let go of past grudges and
3) It is about high-time I decided to make the life I want to live and not be slave to a dreary job where getting a double bonus at the end of the year makes it bearable (it isn't).

I've also decided to buck-up on my art skills so that when I do go commercial one day, I can at least save myself a few hundred bucks by not hiring an artist. zero-project's (my music-muse) music is free for all commercial work, so that's one less problem to worry about.

Hello Laine, my old friend.

I'm also feeling a bit overwhelmed at trying to familiarise myself with MV. The engine has enormous potential, but all these plug-ins... Yanfly is seriously on a roll. To someone who has been using VX since late 2010-early 2011, to me it feels like the equivalent of going from paddling around in a baby pool, to diving off the 10-metre springboard. But I know it will pay off in the long-term. But I'll probably end up making a few short games in MV before taking this huge step.

It's exciting, but also terrifying at the same time. I need to let go of my innermost fears and just release all that pent-up creative energy. What is my innermost fears, you ask?

Well...

It is the fear of failure. Also, the fear of letting down people who expect great things from you, who expect you to be at the top of your game no matter what. But worst of all, for me at least, is when someone (whether in real life or on the internet) expresses immense disappointment in you. That... has always struck me hard and always sits like a lead balloon in my chest.

As to what happened about a year-and a half ago...

I regret it, and bitterly. I lost a few good friends that day, and I still it to this day. Every time I thought about RMN during my hiatus, that was the first incident I thought of. But I guess I'll have to learn to live with it.

So, here's to a better and more productive 2018! No more fears, no more past regrets, and no more looking back.

This is Luchi, who is now officially back from the dead, signing out.
Blog No. 198 written.

Also, the blog title is totally not a reference to an episode in Granblue.

Hmm, is there a bug with the scroll that's supposed to heal all allies? There's no use animation and nobody gets healed, but the item was still used up.

EDIT: Now I'm stuck on the Nyxes ;_; I can do a bit of damage with the scroll that does holy damage but none of Laine's moves will do more than 10 damage to them.
Hey there.
Guess what?
You just earned another subscriber. :)

Btw, how far are you guys into the game? Any more nasty bugs that need to be squashed? ( I'm quite sure there's more ).

I'm about 2:30 hours in and just finished fighting the Raiders at the Abandoned Shrine. I found a few things, but they're so small and pointless that I don't think they're even worth mentioning. But you asked, so here they are:

- The Abandoned Shrine, in the room right after Siglud smashes open the door. For some reason, the door at the top left reacts by Laine touching it and not the action button. Maybe it's meant to give a hint that the door opens later? Well, I found it a bit odd.

- After beating the bandits, the scene instantly snaps to their bloody corpses before the screen fades out.

- In the scene where Laine talks to the town elder about the bandits, Laine is transparent.

- After the first boss fight with the Nyx, the random battle music suddenly turns up a few pitches. At first I didn't think much of it. But after the bandit fight in the shrine, the music's pitch returns to normal.

They're not game breaking, by any means. But they do stick out.

Still enjoying the heck out of this game, though!
The key to beating the Nyx is to take them out one at a time, while trying to keep both Paine ( Pat+Laine XD ) alive and to build Laine's Rage meter so she can use Sure Strike ( it's normally an instant KO for one Nyx ).

Otherwise, they will make life difficult with Meditation ( raises one of their maxHP by 150%, all bosses have this skill ) and keep Pat's DEF up with Fortitude ( since Vampirism will deal less damage to him that way ).
Another tip is to stake yourself out near a healing crystal and grind a little before going after the Nyx!

Something I've realized is that Enelysion is the type of game where you'll probably come out of a boss encounter dragging at least one or two of your bros' bodies behind you, because everything hits REALLY HARD. Embrace that this is the rule of the game (whether it's intended or not) and adapt your play style around it!

For me, it meant sobbing quietly while pouring my meager funds into a stock of 30 reviving items and watching all of them disappear during a single boss fight in Eos Shrine. (PS about the first boss fight in Eos -- I think it was the first one? -- either way I was only able to beat one of the bosses beacause it literally ran out of MP. I would get rid of its healing skill, since it ended up being a contest of outlasting its MP which wasn't fun. It was hard enough as is without the healing! Alternately I'd lower its defense, since it could heal more damage than I could put out, which, again, was more frustrating than fun)
Yeah, Avinchii is a tough one ( if it was him ), but I'll upload a video showing how I defeated him between Levels 12-14 in less than four minutes. XD

MIGHTA BEEN? I'd check the database, but pffbbthbthtbt not having Vanilla VX on my new computer yet. OTL
I think it was the bird guy, though! I-If that's Avinchii. I'm so bad at remembering names of things sob sob sob
Yes, that would be Avinchii. XD It helps if Laine has more SPD that him. My Laine had around 44 SPD.

How exactly do you build the Rage meter? I've noticed it going up but haven't picked out what cause it or what it does.
Just do regular attacks. When Laine takes damage it will go up as well.

Yuna, there is something wrong with your download link on RMW, it's

http://rpgmaker.net/games/2985/downloads/5169/ and point to anticlimbing. That 5169 shouldn't be there.

Ah. I can't sign in over there. There's a problem with my account. ;_; Unless you would be so kind to add the proper links?

Btw, should I nerf some bosses with the next game update? I daresay some of you might have burst a blood vessel or two. XD

I did add it to the last comment, but I can't amend your first post obviously and my post will eventually get lost. Still hopefully it will help.

Not sure who are the admins/mods over there they may be able to help if not with your account, with modifying the post with the right link.

Oh re the bosses, I like a bit of a challenge, so I'm doing ok, then again I have played this before (still in Ch1) I may change my mind when I get to the new content :).
Guess the pressure is on to get rid of all those bugs now. I'll probably release the next patch in a few weeks ( or depending on how fast I get through the game ). Should get rid of all those small little bugs, because I do want a pristine gam. :D
Hi, I'm finally at the final fights, so the black dragon started spamming "black breath" after half hp, is there any other way to beat him other than spamming the reverse skill?

thanks..

Congrats. You're nearly at the end! XD
He's weak against Light magic, so hitting him with Cillian's Luce Spear should inflict the Light Weaken status on him. Also keep your party's HP high with his Vitality Cry, and if you need more MP, Spirit Cry. Laine should attack regularly until she can use Sure Strike for some enormous damage if she's equipped with her ultimate weapon. The dragon should fall soon if you just pelt it with Light magic.

Btw, the very last fight will happen after that, so be prepared. =)

Thanks, I managed to beat him, so what I did was basically pump up the "res and hp" with the end game bracers, and I have to say that the black dragon is harder than the final boss.
So, I assumed you've cleared the game now. =) How many hours did you manage to get out of it?

Including everything (final weapons and all sidequests) 12.5 hours.
Yeah, that was my playtime as well. Glad my estimate turned out correct. =)
