Description
RMN is having it's 8th birthday and as such we're having an event. Because God forbid we forget this year like we did the last two, right? Right!
And what's better than a short game making competition? Not much!
So grab your engine of choice and get ready to rumba!
What we doing?
We're makin' gam! In eight hours! Woo!
Basically, over this weekend we will be creating a short game based on the theme of self-insert/cameos within eight hours. That is, you have a total of eight hours over the course of the weekend, broken up however you like, to make a game in.
During the event we recommend that people make use of the RMN IRC chatroom in order to talk about what they're doing and give feedback, bounce ideas and just have fun.
This is a birthday event and as such it's social!
At the end of the weekend we show off the games we made and give feedback. The downloads will be compiled in to one game project which will also be released not long after - as such you won't need to create game pages for your games.
Yes, there's a theme. It's pretty simple, too!
Cameos/Self-inserts: The main cast of the game need to consist of either yourself, people you know in real life or people you know on the internet. This means you could create a true Craze vs LockeZ game if you desire, or throw yourself and a group of friends into a fantasy world of your creation.
Whatever you like, how ever silly you desire~ As long as it fits this theme it will count.
- Create a game within 8 hours over the course of the weekend of the 6th/7th of June.
- Game must abide by the site rules of game submissions (thus no pornography, hate speech and such).
- Game must fit the theme provided above.
- Upload to either your locker or a hosting site, then submit to the event page. (If you use a hosting site, put the link in the comments and make sure you use large text/bold in order for it to stand out.)
- The game may be made on any engine.
- Game should be complete and stand-alone, with all necessary files included.
There are three badges available.
- Gammak Cak (25 MS), which will be received if a game that fits the criteria is submitted.
- Feedback Balloon (15 MS), which will be received for giving feedback over the course of the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Gabby Gift (10 MS), for taking part in the chat sessions over the weekend.
If you have any questions or queries, ask here. We'll be operating on the honour system as there is no real way to determine if people are keeping time or not. Trust is the name of the game. Fun is the way we roll.

@Red_Nova: It never occurred to me to do that, to be honest! Though, I also wouldn't trust myself, even if the idea did occur to me. Though, that could just be me being shy/withdrawn.

Can someone please tell me what happens after you beat Happy in iddalai's game because I can't beat it for the life of me.
Go into the portal in the same room of the boss, you'll be in a dark screen, some spots are brighter than others, find the spot with the most light in that map.
For those who don't think they'll be able to finish in time (and for anyone else who hasn't had the energy to finish their games):

Darigaaz, that one conversation with all the game references? This game is my freaking hero right now.
I'm getting a bit of Last Minute Gift influence from this game. On purpose?
A few notes, if they haven't been mentioned before. One, if you revisit the cave's entrance area after leaving it, the rock is above the opening. Two, there's a screen transition that sends you to the same map, and I wasn't quite finished exploring the previous area.

5/10 on RMN Community! Dariggaz, that sucked so hard. Though, the question about which topic Liberty locked to troll the community had me confused. I would have to look at those choices again, because I probably I'm sure it meant to reference the screenshot topic, but it wasn't... oh, crap. I think it might have been on the list, but I was probably thinking it was referring to the new topic, rather than the old one! NEVER MIND!
8/10 on Name the Game! It probably helps that I played, or knew about... most of the games mentioned.
3/10 on Site Rules and Features! UUUUUGGGGHHH. That hurt. A lot.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait a sec. I have to restart, and re-enter something other than my user-name.
Well, crap. "Marrend's Guidance" is A THING in this game. I mean, it sounds like a basic potion, but, yeah.
Damn it, I must be thinking I'm playing Remnants of Isloation, as I keep giving unity a command, and keep expecting to have the opportunity to give Red_Nova a command!
I appreciate the full-recover after battles, though!

Aside: I was wondering about why there was that requirement to upload to the locker. Oh well. I have a copy of mine in my locker anyway.

oh no, I meant I can't beat Happy, the boss itself. I just want to know what happens after that
In the screen before the Happy boss there's a treasure, it's well hidden and you need it to beat the boss, also equip "Zydin" and use "Explain" to heal when necessary while using your basic attack when you can, as long as you manage the healing and still have an "Idea" to heal MP you should beat it with no problem :)

Honestly, though, I'm kinda dissappointed at the deliberately incorrect design choices. Maybe I'm just a boring guy, but I would have had more fun if the sound effects and visuals were more appropriate.
Also, I would have been more appreciative if I was given the correct answer if I got a question wrong, but now I'm just nitpicking.
Other than that, though, I had fun.

8HourGam: Lost interest pretty quick. I find it hard to pay attention to 2k3 games.
RMN Quiz: Got 19/40. Oops! Nice idea though, even if it hammered home the fact that I barely involve myself with RMN at all.

Let RMN Eat Cake keeps crashing. It happens so fast, I can't tell you what's wrong, but I think it keeps happening whenever someone gets a combo.
Weird. I wonder if I missed anything RTP related? It could be related to the scripts but I never had the game crash on me while testing so that's new. Did it have a pop-up come up when it crashed or did the whole thing just shut down? Was it early in the match? Do you think it was from the player side or computer side? Sorry for all the questions I just want to nip this in the bud.
