I need to make a book in-game that the player can carry around and read.
Make a Switch Item that plays a "Call" common event (create it in the database). Put desired messages in this event.

This.

But I'll add that nobody likes reading "books" (if they're quite long) in four truncated lines of message box text at time (although we've probably all both done it and made similar things ourselves). You could use the same method to bring up a picture of your desired text so it's all there in one go and skippable rather than making the player go through message box after message box.

No people you don't understand me(I might not have explained properly).I would like a player to find a book which he can carry around and read from the inventory.
Yes, I understood that :P Is it under 2k3? You might want to specify which engine you use everytime you ask a new question.
Let me explain it slightly differently and in further detail:

1- Go in the Database and create an item called "Book of Whatever". This item has to be a Switch type of item (you know, there are several types like Weapon, Shield, Medicine, etc. and Switch).

2- Have this item activate a Switch called "Book"

3- Remaining in the Database, go to the Common Events tab. Create an event called "Read Book". Make it Auto Start and activated by the previously created Switch called "Book".

4- In the command space, have message boxes open or show a Picture with the book's text on it. At the end of this event, turn Switch "Book" OFF.

Now in your maps, have a treasure chest or something that adds the item "Book of Whatever" to your party's inventory. If you've done it correctly, you should now be able to read this book through your inventory in-game.

If this is not what you want to do, there is no other way to do that book reading thing you're asking for (unless you design a whole custom menu system).

Okay look, i got the KGC Script about the book.Somehow, no matter what I do, when I open the book, the menu has nothing...i can only see the cursor.
I simply want to make a book where I will tell the player if he doesn't eat and drink, he will die.Like a calories list...making a carrot have 50 calories which will turn down the hunger counter etc. Here's the screenshot:

I'm doing all of this cause that would be handy to have a book to see which food is great to stop major hunger etc.
This is the reason why I added cooking!
Okay, so VX. Have you tried asking in the topic you got the script from?
Usually KGC is good about having instructions at the start of the script. Have you tried using them? Can we have a link to the script? We aren't mind readers. We only have as much information to go on as you give us.

Also, Avee's suggestion is still valid - without a script. Just edit that pretty li'l picture to have the items and their amounts on it and do as Avee said. Easy, breezy, beautiful.
It's far easier to do this in events and depending on how fancy you want to get with I'll explain 2 ways.
1st. Have a book event sprite set to when the player pushes the action key a SE plays (they are titled book I believe) then just do show text commands ending with the other book SE.
2nd. This way is more fancy but would look nicer. Same as before with the action command except this time you are going to use the show picture command (This requires you to find a photo of a opened book or something). To make it different you can write the text in Photoshop or something if you have that available to you. Then just play the SE's like before and wahla. Then whether the player keeps the books in items or not is up to you if so you would have to make each separate book either a switch with 1 or 2 common events or make each book their own common event.
P.S to make it more fancy you can even get 1~3 pictures of a page turning and then use those with the appropriate SE.
~ Hope that helps.
This was my explanation 2 someone else. This cn achieve you what you want. The book could remain the players inventory and they could read it whenever they choose.
Srry for the late reply was waiting for the other forum site where this was 2 come back up.
He wants it in his items. So that he may look at it at any time. Hence, follow Avee's directions and have it you shall.
