NES STYLE BOSS THEME
Posts
This was really quick and easy to compose. Fun too. The guy who wanted the NES style boss theme for their Dragon Quest style game is free to use this.

Whoah, that is some awesome work there. Holy shit. The music is just GREAT! Ha ha. It has the NES feel, and near perfectly matches the style I was going for! Epic!
Ha. You definitly did a great job with this one. Thanks so much for creating this!

This is so killer awesome. I can imagine sitting crosslegged on the carpet in fromt of the TV when I'm eight, my big brother yelling at me to "HIT THE EYES! HIT THE EYES!" and then jolt in excitement when I do.
Excellent work.
Excellent work.
Hey harmonic, can I ask, what is your general way of going about composing music? What programs do you use? Do you actually play the stuff, or is it synthesized? You know, general questions. I am looking to get into such things.
For this one I used midisoft studio and mouse-clicked all the notes.
For something more sophisticated (symphonic or cinema-style music) I use a mix of Studio and Finale 2007. My gear is terrible. I'm looking to buy myself an entire sound studio someday so I'm no longer held back by mediocre samples.

yeah, i have been quite interested in doing my own music for ages just wouldn't have a clue how to. Sounds good anyway harmonic.
I still use an old WIN3.1/95 version of midisoft studio. It is surprisingly user friendly and easy to learn, so I don't look down on anyone who uses it as a tool.

Do you have an MP3 version on a seamless loop?
I could try to precisely cut off the silence at the beginning of the end of the MP3, but there's always a little hitch when it loops in rm2k(3). Apparently there's a way to make digital audio files loop without a hitch, but I don't know it.

At work so I can't listen now but I will later! But anyway, you're saying that you don't have a MIDI keyboard? That's just tragic dude. If you don't I will seriously buy you one (I know that you play piano).

Him has a lot of gifts to buy in the near future.
:(
Very impressive! Is the program you used for the MP3 version the Sudio/Finale 2007? Where do you get it? I cant find them through Googling believe it or not, so...
The MP3 version is just the playback from Studio, using my sound card's onboard reverb and doing a digital audio recording. Simple stuff.

Did I hear a bit of FFMQ music there somewhere? Nice work.
Very very perceptive. There is a tiny section in this that's derived from the "C" section of the music from Doom Castle or whatever the final level of FFMQ is. Gold Star for you!
Dude with the mp3 version you should go all the way or none of the way. A square sample with reverb sounds pretty silly so you should either chiptune it big time or arrange it for some other ensemble.
Anyway I like this tune quite a bit! It's pretty much a cut-and-dried standard thing from you so I don't really know what to say about it other than good work man you write good video game music. It sounds more Ninja Gaiden than Dragon Quest but who knows what you were going for it's good music either way.
