WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW?

Trek is easy, start with TOS and watch them chronologically. DW is a little less clear since some of the earlier episodes have been lost. I am still of the opinion that you should watch from the beginning, at the very least no matter what you do you should start with the Unearthly Child which is the first episode, if not just because it gives you an idea of where the series started and some of its fundamentals, but it becomes a bit of an injoke in the new who episodes that started in 2005. You're going to have to cope with the fact that some of these are outdated, but once you've become enamoured of the characters the fact that it is full of anachronisms won't matter.
Re GoT, you have to be ok with some graphic depictions of violence and era appropriate attitudes towards the peasantry and women in general. Yes it is convoluted, but the TV series is much less complex than the books. Still you get to watch Peter Dinklage being wonderfully brilliant which makes up for a lot.
Also there have been a lot of SF over the years, are you sure you've seen them all? xD.

I got the free upgrade from Microsoft, even with myless thantotally legit version of Windows 7. Seems to be activated and everything.
DAMN, I reserved mine about 2mos ago. Was supposed to an auto download when it was released but that was like on 6/30 and still no upgrade :(
Guess I'll have to hit their website and demand to be upgraded or they will hear from Kentona....that should terrify them :)
Hm... let's see. You might like:
- Under the Dome
- Warehouse 13
- Farscape
- The 100
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer
- Angel
- Lexx
- Haven
- Grimm
- Pushing Daisies
- Primeval
- The 4400
- all the Treks
- Once Upon a Time
I'd also recommend Leverage as a series. It's complete, it's great, the characters are lovable and while it's not sci-fi/fantasy, it is really really good.
There's also a billion anime out there if you want to consider that road. There's some really great ones, too. Don't count them out just because they're animated. One you might like that is stand-alone movie is Red Line, and you might also enjoy Guren Lagen which is amazing.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

author=alteregoIt's not really high fantasy if I'm being honest. It's set in a ficticious medieval world but there's almost nothing supernatural. It's all about war, sex and politics. It's a really well done show, but it doesn't match what you're looking for at all.
I'm also tempted to start watching Game of Thrones because everybody I know just won't shut up about it. But I'm less into high-fantasy stuff.
One show I would actually recommend is Extant.
author=alteregoThere are some really good sci-fi anime series. I don't have a lot of insight into which ones would match your interests, and there are also a lot of really bad anime series that are basically just saturday morning cartoons, so I don't really recommend just blindly picking from a top ten list, but someone else will chime in.
I don't know what to watch next. I'm very much into sci-fi-esque, Space-y, or super-natural stuff. Among my favorite shows were The X-files, Stargate, and Fringe.

I'd also add Eureka to Liberty's list, and of course Firefly, but be prepared to be angry about it.
I'd like to say she'd be less angry if she watches Serenity after Firefly, but that's simply not true. If she gets into Firefly, she'll be livid by the end of Serenity.
With Star Trek, it's not particularly necessary to watch them chronologically unless you're watching Deep Space Nine. With Doctor Who, it's probably not necessary to watch them all. The classic series doesn't have sweeping continuity issues like the the NuWho does. As long as you know the Doctor changes actors periodically, you should be fine.
If you're going to watch Dr Who, I recommend seeing at least one or two episodes of each Doctor, just so you can join in the 'who is the best Doctor' discussions.
Personally, I'm all for Doctor Scarf. <3 The Doctor of my youth~ (Tom Baker <3)

Yeah there is no use watching DW if you can't then get into the 'my Doctor is better than your Doctor' conversations (Pertwee all the way, peeps!)
Actually I pretty much like them all, even Hartnell and he was a crotchety so-and-so.

Also the Doctor I grew up with! Yes, because of him, for years, I have actually regularly ordered Jelly Babies from the UK.

So the superstore chain Target (essentially a Wal-Mart with a different name) has decided to make their toys section gender neutral. Apparently, a lot of customers were not happy about that and took to Facebook to make their feelings well known. So someone with a lot of time on there hands decided to pose as a Target customer service rep and, well, just read for yourself what happens.
Normally I have better things to do with my time than watch someone trolling a bunch of people on Facebook, but... I like this man and what he's doing.

It's actually incredible how some people will go as far out of their way as they possibly can just to be offended.
Fuck, people are stupid. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so embarrassing to be Human.

Red, Target should hire that guy. Though I adore the fact it took them 16 hours to shut him down and they've done the 'Trolls are Back' advertising. Game, set, match methinks.

A friend retweeted something about this on twitter. How could I not retweet that level of fun and classy bird flipping?
Well, I guess I meant to say I've watched everything that becomes mainstream enough to be noticeable "world-wide". The reason I've never watched Star Trek or Doctor Who before, for example, is because they never were originally aired in my country. If not for Cable TV and the Internet, which are fairly recent things, I'd still be stuck watching Telenovelas. xD
I've seen most of the shows you recommend. But I guess it can be said I'm 'bit' picky as well. For example, I started watched "The 100", but it struck me as a reality show, kinda like Survivor, but with a post-apocalyptic setting. Likewise, I started watched a show called "Defiance", but it turned out to be a soap opera with aliens. "Warehouse 13" I kinda forced myself to keep watching, because while the premise was right up my alley, I wanted to strangle the main male protagonist and of his dumb sense of humor. xP "Firefly" was Ok. The whole western + space thing was kinda "meh" to me, but it was Ok. Shame it ended, though, it was getting good.
I guess the reason I like shows like the X-files or Stargate more, is because almost every episode is different, each one exploring a cool idea like time travel, alternate realities, and all that good stuff. Shows that are more drama than sci-fi, tend to bore me over time. xP
I hadn't considered Animes. I'm Ok with that. But It would need to be something dubbed. I watch shows mostly while I'm doing something else (I need to multi-task to get things done. The day has only so many hours. =_=) so I can't be glued to the screen reading subtitles.

Yeah, but I do the same. I have it on in a side window and do something else. Person of Interest really bugged me because I kept getting drawn back into the story instead of having it as a side-thing. XD Same with a few other shows.
I like to use police drama shows for that, though, like NCIS and CSI and the type.

I haven't heard this much complaining about "liberals" since watching American History X.
oh wait...

Got tired of looking at that cursed cat, changed my avatar finally. Of course, now it looks like a guy is the most perfect waifu, when the term should be hazubando or something, but eh, better a guy as a waifu that a hairless cat, right?
Edit: Reading this post again, I have to say I was in a... weird mood last night. Probably the coffee with the overly large amount of sugar in it.
