WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW?

Isn't it sad how some people dismiss certain pieces of artwork as invalid or "less art" just because of the medium the piece was made for?

A friend overheard a video i was watching and he heard a track from one piece. He was very interested in knowing the name of the piece, but backed away in disgust and said "nevermind" when i told him it was from one piece.

I mean, it's fair enough if you don't like anime but i don't see how the music is at fault here.

From personal experience, I suspect that reaction was probably less "Oh never mind, I don't wanna listen to anime music" and more "Oh never mind, I don't want to listen to you start talking about anime."

I mean, unless you're in high school, then being worried about being considered one of the gross anime dweebs might be the issue.

Either way, though, it's not the medium, it's the fanbase. Anime is one of those things that isn't all bad, but has such terrible fans that you really just don't want to be associated with it at all, like My Little Pony or religion.

The thing about growing up is that you turn your attention inward. You stop caring about what people might accidentally perceive you as and start considering how to better yourself. I think what I'm more concerned with now is not being considered a dweeb but the realization that I am a dweeb.

It was just an example. It could be anything, not only anime. That was not my point. The point is how people are willing to dismiss an artistic product or part of a product only because of the material it belongs to, despite the product standing on it's own independently from it's source. It happens a lot with videogame sountracks as well.

There's totally a place in this world for dweebs.

They tend to sit in front of computers all day.
Either working or procrastinating.
One or the other.

I shudder to think i'll be cutoff from my pc for a week while i go help out at my grandparent's house. There's a lot of work i still need to get done.

I watched Deadpool last night.

It was way over-the-top than what I'm used to, but it was such an awesome movie filled with tongue-in-cheek humor that I adore.

So, my parents took up beekeeping as a hobby. I watched their mentor set up their first two brood boxes. It's like their main hive. You can add Supers on top, which they use to fill up with honey. You can collect the honey from the supers, but need to leave the brood alone. That's their food.
Seems like a cool process. I'm definitely looking forward to the honey.

Their end game is to make gin during my dad's retirement in 5 years, and having happy bees is a big part of that game plan.
Plus, y'know, the environment.
Probably going to take this on as well when I move out the city.
