WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW?

...I was about to say why not make your own game? I mean, that gives you complete control over plot, characters, places and even if it's a small one, the sense of accomplishment you get at the end of it is well worth every effort you put into it. Games don't have to be huge affairs, and I know for fact you're a decent mapper and great with story/character components. I'd like to see what you could bring to the table, actually. It'd be really interesting to see what kind of game you'd make by yourself, BT. ^.^
YELLOW MAGIC WAS A COP, NOT MAFIA?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I should probably keep mafia related posts in the mafia thread but hey this is what I'm thinking about.

It's really interesting and gives insight into how the game actually works. Knowing as much as I do about game creation (even if it's just RM stuff) comes in handy when figuring out what he's talking about when he mentions changing the characters out and what-not. Pretty cool, all told.

Hmmmm…we haven’t had another “Release Something Day / Week” event in a long time, not since May of last year. I wonder if we’ll do another one sometime down the road…??? I actually might have something this time around if we do one.
Also, I’m thinking about never to vote for Australian / African teams in anything to do with soccer anymore. Everytime I want to believe in them, they just let me down...just like the Vancouver Canucks. *sobs*

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

When we did it last year, it was so big that the end result was that almost none of the game releases got noticed in the crowd. None of them were able to stay on any of the "recent" lists, so they didn't get hits just by being on the front page like they would if they'd been released any other week. And even the people looking forward to a certain game specifically had 10 other things they were interested in released the same day.
Really, it was simultaneously a roaring success and a horrible disaster. People totally got tons of shit released, but then I think a lot of them got disheartened by the lack of response and abandoned their projects. That definitely happened to my team and at least a couple other people I saw. And since almost none of the releases were finished games, yeah, that wasn't good.
The idea of Release Something! is obviously one people respond to. Wonder how you could fix that problem.

I was actually aiming to have one this year that focussed only on projects that were already on the go (thus, no new games unless that was already on the cards) and trying to actually finish (or make serious head-way) in said games.
Unfortunately, finding a good time to put it is hard, what with the amount of events already this year. We had RM Birthday, this Indie Event, RMN-mon, Wyrm Warriors and Reviewrim so far and there's a Halloween one planned in October, the December Secret Santa (which may or may not coincide with another Winter/Christmas themed event) and RMN birthday event... We don't want to over-saturate you guys and take all your free time away from gam mak, after all. ^.^
An idea could be a staggered version - people sign up and if there's a lot of people we could divvy them up into a week of work. At the end of that week they release their stuff, the next week starts up and the week after's reviews the released work. So like:
Week 1 - G1 starts
Week 2 - G2 starts - G3 reviews G1
Week 3 - G3 starts - G4 reviews G2
Week 4 - G4 starts - G1 reviews G3
Week 5 - Nothing - G2 reviews G4
Week 6 - Recap

Maybe make a script for the front page that randomly picks three of the completed submissions to show really big to each site visitor, in the large area where the featured games and other jazz go? Basically turn that area on the front page into a giant, temporary, super-visible Random Screenshots section that only shows title pages of Release Something entries. That might be enough, just to do that for three or four days after the event. Then everyone would get their time on the front page.
The actual featured game would still be first, of course. And then the three randomly chosen Released Somethings on the other three flip-screens after it.
We don't really need a Halloween event every single year. You guys could probably give that one a break this year. People who want to make spooky games for the holiday will still do so.

I, uh, already have the Halloween event planned, actually. And it's not horror-themed this time. It's pretty different from past Halloween events.
Not sure about the script. I know Anky and kentona have a hard time getting parts of the site to do what they want without having to either recode areas completely or work with/around the current scripts (thank WIP for that), but we could put that forth as an idea for future events if they can get a script like that to work.
That said, currently July/August is open. Maybe if we do something last week of July/first week of August. Also, just realised we missed RMN's birthday again this year. >.<; June 2nd if anyone wanted to know. 7 years (in its current form).
le sigh
Maybe for the tenth year anniversary we'll remember... :/

Wow, that sounds really interesting! If you guys need any judges for it, I'd like to volunteer. (Haha, even though it's probably way too early for that)

Sorry to hear that Pizza :( Any chance of work with another camp or is McMurray drying up? I've never been north of Edmonton so I know very little of what the situation up there is like.

I am thinking it is FUCKING COLD right now... Stupid winter.
I'm thinking the exact opposite!
This may be the absolute worst place to ask this, but do any of you guys have good tips for online dating?
I have an OKCupid account with an acceptable profile, I think. Typically, I try to message people that look interesting, starting of with a simple hello, pointing out shared interests or making a snarky comment about some aspect in their profile in an attempt to flatter them, though I almost never receive replies. I wonder what I'm doing wrong, and keep in mind I have absolutely no experience with this sort of thing.

Do you have a varied set of interests? Write enough about your future goals? Keep it ever-so-slightly humourous while keeping a balance between self-confidence and self-deprecation?
idk tbh. I tried online dating for like a couple of days before I quit because I ended up drawing direct parallels to the way I've had to impress prospective employers and have job interviews in the past.
